    he's such an interesting person
his words on the surface seem so distant yet there is a genuine empathetic search for some sort of truth
he approaches everything like an experiment like a scientist

Steve is not a political guy and so doesn't think in political terms but of course any film about Bobby Sands will be political. But the way he has shaped the story and image makes the political message so much stronger and memorable.

It’s less political than human. I showed this to people who don’t know anything abt Ireland and it was still just as effective.

If any one seen the film Steve said its not all about Bobby sands its about all who we're involved, his nurse who had UDA on his knuckles committed suicide shortly after the death of Bobby, fantastic film and Michael was fantastic as Bobby.

Jian really hit the nail on the head with his observation, "For a guy who's made a film about a pretty heavy historical incident, you're free of commentary - you want people to take from this what they will." He really struggled with being able to peg this down at the beginning of the interview, but finally realized that Mr. McQueen intends to be very non-descriptive.
