That's so cool! I'm honored! And thank you so much, that's very kind. It was one of the best moments I've ever experienced, I'm so blessed to even have made it as far as I did :)
I can’t believe I just saw you commented on my old video (this is my new RUclips account)! You were a huge inspiration to me when I was doing Forensics/Debate. I qualified to Nats the following year in 2012, and got 2nd place in Expository Speaking. :)
I read this book to my students every year mostly for the great message of wearing your bike helmet while riding your bike. I love your interpretation of the book. I will be showing it to my class of third graders. They really loved the story. Fantastic job!
This book was one of my favorites when I was younger, and this DI made me completely relive the story. I've never send a dramatic interpretation before but now I want to watch some more. You're a fantastic actress and this brought tears to my eyes.
Ahh thank you, thank you, thank you! You're gonna be great- just have confidence:) DI is so much fun & your four years in high school will fly by so enjoy them!
I’m doing a selection for my hair book for my speech this year! We only get 8 minutes and if any of you didn’t know the book is actually 90 pages and this speakers selection was pieces form all over the book re arranged. I’m obviously going to change a lot of it (bc copying = not good) and mine needs to be shorter but I’m using this format as kind of a starting point for mine. This is also the first time I’m cutting a selection myself, I’ve only done pre cut speeches before. This performance is so amazing though, props to the speaker!!
That's awesome! I actually did not do this during my speech season. I had never done Dramatic Interpretation before the National Qualifier and I was just filling in for a girl on my team so I had no idea what I was doing. So I only used this piece at Nationals. But no this piece is not from a play, it's actually from the book "Mick Harte Was Here" by Barbara Park. Hope that helps:) And thank you very much, that's very nice! Best of luck to you during your season! Have fun!
@ethananimation Aww oh my gosh that's so nice. I'm just honored to have even gotten the chance to perform on the same stage as them. It was an incredible experience.
You wanna know something super cool? I live in New Mexico, and my Speech teacher, when introducing us to what a Dramatic Interpretation actually is, showed us this. He used you to demonstrate how it's actually done. I just thought you'd get a kick out of knowing that(: But wow, how did you not win? You should've! This was amazing.
This is very good I just wish everyone didn't copy it. She added her own original inflections in it and so many people copy her exact additions of the piece. Once I see someone writing with a stick im like: "that's not in the script and you are copying the girl from '11- s t o p " this really is good in a simplistic way
I did this piece for Dramatic Interpretation and got 2nd in my State Tournament! It's an amazing piece, and you do it so beautifully! At one of my tournaments I got the compliment that someone thought I did it even better than you and I was speechless (ha ha ha). Love this piece so much!
I definitely think you could handle it! No matter how old you are, you have to feel a connection with whatever piece you'll be doing. So, if you feel a connection with this piece and Phoebe is the type of character you could see yourself portraying- go for it! It helps to really put yourself in that character's shoes. Make the book come to life when you're telling the story. Because that's really all a DI is, in my opinion. Just telling your story. Best of luck :)
:D OMG that was amazing. I sincerely believed you and by the end i has to remind myself that this was a DI. I'm new to speech and debate, and I'm doing a DI at my first competition, in like a week. I hope one day I'll be as amazing as you:)
@erinmariewalsh it took me forever to realize this was you when I watched the Anna August duo! Did it myself last year and it was the most fun piece I've ever done.
I had to use the book :) It's okay to get creative with the cutting you choose or make up, but just make sure you use the book and aren't making up TOO much of your own words. But the reason DI is so fun is because it's nice to put yourself in that character's shoes. I wish you the best of luck!
Sorry my replies are so late; I haven't checked the comments in a while! But I absolutely think you could handle it. No matter how old you are, if you can connect with the piece (or any piece for that matter!) do not be afraid to try it! I'm sure you'll do wonderful things :)
Hey, I was planning on doing this as a drama piece for speech. (is that what you did?) but the problem is,is that isn't suppost to be from a play? or is it a play? we might have different rules? but it would be great to hear back! you did a wonderful job by the way! =)
My coach wants me to do this at our next 3 tournaments and at National Qualifiers. If I qualified, would this piece having been at nationals so recently be seen as an issue?
Ummm I'm not sure they allow that but you would have to talk to your coach and see what they say. In the book, Phoebe is obviously a girl and I'm fairly certain changing the main character's gender wouldn't be appropriate where I'm from but again, that's something to talk to your coach about. Good luck!
This piece and my mother's touch are the worst pieces ever. Every single girl does them and they all sound exactly the same thing. It's so predictable. I prefer more original pieces with pieces cut from literature and plays.
This is one of my favorite DI's ever. Because it get's rid of all the flashiness and leaves you with something real.
That's so cool! I'm honored! And thank you so much, that's very kind. It was one of the best moments I've ever experienced, I'm so blessed to even have made it as far as I did :)
I know this is 9 years late lol but your performance was outstanding! Very emotional and realistic! Well done!
Pig Is that you mick?
😮😮😅😮😮

I loved this book as a kid. Bravo!
Yay! Have SO MUCH FUN! You don't have to compare to anyone, you're YOU:) Thank you very much & have a great season!
Thank you! That's so sweet and so nice to hear. I'm studying to become a teacher right now so that makes me so happy! Thank you again :)
This book was one of my favorites when I was younger, and this DI made me completely relive the story. I've never send a dramatic interpretation before but now I want to watch some more. You're a fantastic actress and this brought tears to my eyes.
i cried reading that book as a kid and you just made me do it again!!
I have watched this over 6 times it's amazing!I will be in debate as a freshman, next year!
Ahh thank you, thank you, thank you! You're gonna be great- just have confidence:) DI is so much fun & your four years in high school will fly by so enjoy them!
Thank you. You did the book so much justice.
ive seen this piece more than 10 times, and i like yours the most! :D
This is just amazing. I couldn't help but cry at the end

Oh my goodness I loved this book, you performed it so well!:) Congrats on 6th! I'm a freshman doing DI and I could never compare.
Thank you very much. Will do! It looked amazing by the way!
I'm going to use this piece for my DI piece, but I definitely won't do as well as you. You're amazing!
I loved this piece, a wonderful thespian you are :)
Wow this is amazing!! Youre an amazing actress! This is my favorite book of all time. It has an amazing message

This is amazing! So raw and real!
@ethananimation Aww oh my gosh that's so nice. I'm just honored to have even gotten the chance to perform on the same stage as them. It was an incredible experience.
I got chills! You're perfect!
I love this sooo much! I think I want to try this for my forensics piece :) Awesome job!
Those expressions on her face are amazing.
This was amazing. I cried.
IM NOT CRYING, ITS RAINING ON MY FACE
this is absolutely amazing!!!!!!! i cried

this was amazing. you deserved first place
This is very good I just wish everyone didn't copy it. She added her own original inflections in it and so many people copy her exact additions of the piece. Once I see someone writing with a stick im like: "that's not in the script and you are copying the girl from '11- s t o p " this really is good in a simplistic way
If you take the book it will tell you she uses a stick. So it's not copying.
Im doing this for prose this year but its my first time actually watching this...i dont copy boiiii..lol..i do it very differently so..👍👌
I'm doing this DI this year!! I'm a freshman. I can not compare to you!! :D Good job (:

That is so sweet! Thank you :)
Im in speech too, and i love this piece. Mines a bit different wording, but you did amazing..
Aww thank you! Yep! I went to Downers Grove South but I'm actually a college freshman now:)
Thank youu!!
*Recorded with a live potato*

I saw this in the final rounds of my very first DI, unfortunately she didn't give this piece the justice you did.
Amazing, I HOPE I CAN DO THIS DURING MY ACTING
:D OMG that was amazing. I sincerely believed you and by the end i has to remind myself that this was a DI. I'm new to speech and debate, and I'm doing a DI at my first competition, in like a week. I hope one day I'll be as amazing as you:)
@erinmariewalsh it took me forever to realize this was you when I watched the Anna August duo! Did it myself last year and it was the most fun piece I've ever done.
Ah yes I loved Anna and August! :) That was seriously so much fun!
ho ho ho
Your breath smells
GET DOWN!
haha good job I really liked this (:
You're so sweet, thank you very much. That means a lot to me :)
It's from the book "Mick Harte Was Here" by Barbara Park. And the cutting I did was just bits and pieces from the book :)
This was the only real "tear-jerker" in that final round. She should have placed much much higher.
Good job!
Thank you :) You're all so kind!
Beautiful piece.
It's so sad, though. ;-;
You are so sweet! That means so much:) I wish you the best of luck- you'll be great! Just have a great time. Enjoy every minute!
Thank you :) you're all too sweet.
I did this piece last year and one first superior and superior plus at every competition
Where can i find the script?
Haley Farmer it's from a book so I took pieces out of the book so they matched this video
Or it is on vault fanatics
I had to use the book :) It's okay to get creative with the cutting you choose or make up, but just make sure you use the book and aren't making up TOO much of your own words. But the reason DI is so fun is because it's nice to put yourself in that character's shoes. I wish you the best of luck!
@skuqem Absolutely! :) This was an amazing piece. Simple and powerful.
I did this for my theatre tournament
Nope! This was at Nationals last year, held in Dallas, TX :)
Sorry my replies are so late; I haven't checked the comments in a while! But I absolutely think you could handle it. No matter how old you are, if you can connect with the piece (or any piece for that matter!) do not be afraid to try it! I'm sure you'll do wonderful things :)
I read this book it's sooo sad :(
Hey, I was planning on doing this as a drama piece for speech.

we might have different rules? but it would be great to hear back! you did a wonderful job by the way! =)
im plannin on doing this for a debate tournament! did you make it up from the book or does it say these exact words in the book?
My coach wants me to do this at our next 3 tournaments and at National Qualifiers. If I qualified, would this piece having been at nationals so recently be seen as an issue?
That was great, also YOU'RE SO ADORABLE. You're from downer's grove south right?
I have to do a six page essay analysis of your preformance by this friday. Do you know of anyone who reviewed it and could you give me the website ?
What could I take out to make it into 5 minutes?
does any one know where i can get a script for this piece? thank you (:
Was this in Indianapolis?
Would it be to inapropriatte to change this to a brother?
Does anyone have the link to the script?
Okay so I can perform this soooo well but I'm worried to because it's overused. Should I go for it or stay away?
Cece Is Da Best I am going through the same thing right now. 😣
@erinmariewalsh I honestly thought you should have won the final round.
Ummm I'm not sure they allow that but you would have to talk to your coach and see what they say. In the book, Phoebe is obviously a girl and I'm fairly certain changing the main character's gender wouldn't be appropriate where I'm from but again, that's something to talk to your coach about. Is this for nfl?
Is this semis or Finals?
i did this and i went to varsity state im 12
does anyone have the script to this

I completely agree! I don't think this is piece is that amazing even when this girl does it. And it's worse now that EVERYONE does it.
you should of got last
