    I would love to do this! I’m a young teacher but have grown a love for helping students with the foundation of reading over this past school year.

    I am currently helping my 7 year old improve in reading. I have learned so much (thanks to you and a few others on RUclips). Now I am thinking about becoming a reading specialist and helping others.

    I'm in my last stretch of my EdS reading. I'm excited and nervous. Do we ever feel ready?

      Congrats!! I think a healthy balance of mostly excited and slightly nervous is ok :)

    Hi! Kathleen. Very informative. Any thoughts on grouping according to ability as opposed to age. Also, when would you recommend either? Always cherished becoming a reading specialist. Right now I'm in an adult literacy engagement.

      I definitely recommend forming small groups based on students' needs. It makes the time more efficient and more meaningful! They can/should be flexible as the year moves on so that as you receive up to date data, you can shift groups around if needed.

    I have thought about it, but with three kids in school still and going to be 50 soon, I think that ship has sailed

    Im interested in being either a English teacher or a Reading Specialist. But what exactly is the difference between both?
    Im more oriented towards a Reading Specialist.

      An English teacher is going to cover more so studying English literature - reading, writing, speaking - in middle school or High School grades. Usually, a reading specialist would tend to work with elementary age students and help them with reading and writing.

    How to Teach learn these spellings
    One
    Guard

    • @learningattheprimarypond
      @learningattheprimarypond  4 месяца назад +2

      "one" is really interesting because of the /w/ sound. I usually don't teach this one with sound boxes since the only sound that really makes sense is the /n/ sound. I would just show students the entire word and ask "what surprises you about this word?" And they they would talk about how the "o" does not make a long vowel sound like it would normally with an "e" at the end.
      For "guard," I'd use sound boxes and show that the "uar" work together to make an r-controlled /ar/ sound.
