Aloha, Yes, these glide bar clamp machines are great. What's nice is that they have hardly any drawback, as mentioned in this video: ruclips.net/video/cDYaO5bUTdY/видео.html. Unfortunately, not all swivel clamp-type machines are created equal. One machine that comes to mind is the Eagnes machine brand. 🤙
Thank you. This is very informative. I also tested with and without the Diabolo. The result without is spot on whereas using the Diabolo is 5+ lbs tigher with my Gamma 6004 hand crank.
Aloha, Thanks for watching! I initially thought that would be the case also with my electronic machine, but here's a video that revealed the outcome. ruclips.net/video/NOwzIP_N-kM/видео.html
Thanks for your amazing videos! would you be so kind in providing a link to the tubing you use?? can I also use it in older racquets that have worn out grommets??
Aloha, Thanks for watching! I have two types of tubing - nylon and Teflon. I bought my nylon tubing about 25 years ago from Babolat but they don't sell them anymore. However, you can get them from New Tech Tennis: newtechtennis.com/nylon-tubing-10ft-nt10ft-tennis-accessories-racquet.html You can also get it from Tennis Warehouse: www.tennis-warehouse.com/Tubing_Nylon_10_ft/descpageALPHA-TUBING.html I'm not sure how stiff or flexible their nylon tubing is, but I prefer the stiffer kind. As for the Teflon tubing, I bought a bunch from Grand Slam Stringers a while back, and they don't sell stuff anymore. You don't necessarily have to get Teflon tubing since the nylon one will probably suffice in most applications. Here's a video where I featured tubing tips and techniques - www.tennis-warehouse.com/Tubing_Nylon_10_ft/descpageALPHA-TUBING.html
Thanks! I saw a video recently with you and Pat Markey . . . I figured out that "Brad" guy was you! It was the video that you talked about your calibrator and needing to get Kevlar strings for it. I forgot to mention on this video and article that Kevlar string is not only a durable/strong, it also doesn't stretch like other strings. I think Pat mentioned that as well!
@@AMstringing Thanks and I've been enjoying doing several videos with Pat. It forces me to keep studying and learning! Happy New Year and I look forward to your future videos!
Aloha Ahmed, Although I haven't used a luggage scale, I don't see the problem with using one if it reads exactly the same. The main thing would be adequately mounting it on your machine to read accurately. 🤙
Great video!! Thanks for the tips. I find myself having issues getting the tension correct at different tension points. For example, I can match 50lbs perfect but 40lbs is slightly off and same for 60lbs. Do you have any suggestions what’s the best way to adjust the tensioner? I also read somewhere that some stringers put the tension back down to zero after they are done so puts less stress on the spring. Is this necessary? Thanks for all your videos, I find them extremely helpful. 🙏
Thanks! I also forgot to mention that another benefit of using Kevlar strings is that it doesn't stretch like other strings. Great question about your inconsistent tension readings! Before I give you my suggestions, is your readings at 40 and 60 one of the following? 1) 40 is low and 60 is high; 2) 40 is high and 60 is low; 3) both are high; or 4) both are low. Also, can you tell me what machine model your using and how "off" are your readings? As for your question about the spring, YES it is recommended that you "zero-out" your tension setting when you're done stringing for the reason you mentioned.
@@AMstringing I am using Gamma 6004. I just redid the calibration like you suggested and looks like I am dead on at 40/50/60. Couple more questions for you….. Do you suggest testing the tension at multiple tension like I did? Is doing 40/50/60 enough or would you suggest going high or lower? Also my crank has the diablo which the Neos does not. I usually string with the Diablo so do you suggest I calibrate my crank by using the Diablo as well? Thanks for your time!
@@andychung7882 Great to hear that your calibration is "spot on." In some rare cases, calibration can be off on the high end and the low end, but not in the middle. I'm glad that you didn't have to deal with that issue after all. Checking your calibration at 40/50/60 is sufficient, I do the same. Hmm . . . you bring up an interesting point, I didn't factor in that some lockout machines have a diablo. If that's the case, you should check your calibration using the diablo. I think it's important to replicate everything exactly the same as how you would tension each string during the string process. Also, an 18" inch length of Kevlar string might not be long enough on the tension head side. I'm thinking maybe 24" would be better. By the way, have you heard of IART? If not, please check out this video. vps.wistia.com/medias/bvnjokinug?media_finished
Silly or not, no worries . . . there's a silver-colored locking lever located under the turntable. If you want me to send you a picture, please email me.
Great channel. What type of kevlar string to you use (Ashway?) when using your calibrator and what gauge ? I have a Tennishead 2090 calibrator and I keep breaking strings when I'm pulling tension for calibration. I haven't tried using the tubing as you've demonstrated on your channel, but plan to do so.
Aloha Nicole, Glad you like the content. I currently use the Prince ProBlend Kevlar, but I've used Ashaway in the past. Were you using regular synthetic string on your calibrator? I'm sure Kevlar with the tubing will do the trick.
Thanks much, this machine so good. I started using new type with rotational bases and it's sucks

Great i just bought one
Is that fishing scale accurate ? Do you have the model ?
Aloha Marcelo, It's a hanging digital handheld fishing & utility-scale made by J Scale. The model is the UltraSport V2-50.
Silly question but how did you lock the neos turntable? I didn’t know we can do that

How often should you calibrate your crank machine?
Aloha, Thanks for subscribing! Once every 25 stringings is a good reference or anytime you take apart and move your machine.
