The Song of Lake Avatahi Nanumaga Island, Tuvaluby NATU Monden Natsuyo

Lake Avatahi is one of the lakes the residents go to wash their bodies every evening in Nanumaga island. 'We grew up bathing in this lake,♪There once was a stone, the lake imerged from it,♪And the stone morphed into a phantom, who travelled through the tunnels under the ground to make all the other lakes in this island♪' This island-mythological song is still sung in this island. I have been staying in remote islands in Tuvalu since 2004.
This is from our (I and my 4 yr. old daughter then) first stay in Nanumaga island.
