  • Lake Avatahi is one of the lakes the residents go to wash their bodies every evening in Nanumaga island. 'We grew up bathing in this lake,♪There once was a stone, the lake imerged from it,♪And the stone morphed into a phantom, who travelled through the tunnels under the ground to make all the other lakes in this island♪' This island-mythological song is still sung in this island. I have been staying in remote islands in Tuvalu since 2004.
This is from our (I and my 4 yr. old daughter then) first stay in Nanumaga island.
Awesome photos from everyday life in remote islands in Tuvalu: / mondennatsuyo
