Great fishing lads shame you didn’t bag a Thornie for the Grand Slam but great fishing! I would definitely say the most difficult to bag. Used to get a few nice ones off the the Barry Points years back. Sand Spit is hell of a mark and had my PB Blonde off there years back 17lb bang on. As you said it, it’s Ford mental in the flood. Rays coming in left, right and centre. Tight lines 🎣
Cracking video again both, have you got a postcode where to park for fishing the sandspit as I've never fished it and looking to go next week, many thanks Rob
Very well done lads. In my opinion the thornabck is the hardest ray to target around the barry area. I only ever catch them by surprise. Just around the corner on the ranny is a good spot for them but the tides would have been too big, and as you both now well Newport area is the place to be for thornbacks! The fishing has been out of this world of late!!
Hi butty, fishing has been incredible. We were in the right places at the right times but it didn’t happen. If it was purely a thornback we were after there were many other options for us around Barry fishing on to mud that had produced well for us. Even the foreshore was an option. Tight lines hope you get In To a few cod over the autumn and winter.
100% agree. Be hitting monknash on the next set of good tides, fingers crossed I can get amongst few fish as you did haha. Keep at it lads can't fault you 👏👌
We thought we would too! They have been our most reliable ray to target but let us down sadly. We can’t be disappointed with that days fishing anyway. Thanks for watching Steve
It is in St Mary’s Well Bay which is between lavernock point and sully island. It only appears over low water on the bigger tides and is a notoriously dangerous place so do your homework if you decide to fish it. There is a danger of being cut off by the tide on the flood and sometimes there are patches of sinking sand. Best to fish it in the day time first if possible. Cheers Tom!
Watching these guys fishing with no sand and also this other stuff for these two bit fish makes me think in Asbury Park just 50 miles from NYC and all these charter boats and lack of fish on most days - LUCKY. Imagine if I had to do all this crap. AP #1 Fisherman. LOL.
I could watch these two all day, great banter and great tips cheers lads
Couldn't agree more.

awesome fishing boys, can i ask what time of year it was, thanks
Hi Kev; this was the end of September. Think we hit it lucky and managed a good few fish.
Great session
What size tide and times do you fish?
Hi Geoff, this session was filmed on some big spring tides. But we do fish neap tides just have to pick and choose venues to suit where we’re going.
Another grate vid lads 👍

Is this beach now accessible via the footpath or is it still difficult to get down
There are various ways to get to the Sand Spit. The easiest and safest (but a fair distance) is the route from Lavernock point
@@BanditFishingUK thanks 👍
