I’m 13 years old and I’m hoping to get a iPhone 8 soon because I’m the only one in my LA/SS that doesn’t have a phone but I do have a iPod but it is losses battery when I’m only on it for 4 minutes. Also there are 4 people in my family and I’m the 2nd youngest so it might be hard for my parents to get a phone for me and my brother. Since I don’t have a phone I’m going to do what many ppl are saying to convince there parents by giving me a phone which is cleaning/ being responsible. I’m going to start tm Dec/1/2017 till Christmas and I’ll ask my family to give me money so that I help out my parents. But I don’t know what my brother will do because he has a Xbox one and iPod and I’m really wanting a iPhone and that’s all that I’m asking for Christmas. I would do the same thing if u want a iPhone it can really help ur parents out!

got mine when i turned 10 or 11, and I think it worked out alright for me, but that's before the social media took over. I only used my phone for calls, texts, games, internet, music and photography. Like a smartphone should be used. But I think that the "golden age" has increased. Social media has a big influence and kids under 12 may not fully understand it, and be able to use it responsibly. 13 or 14 is the sweetspot in my opinion
My daughter is 11 years old. Her father refuses to buy her an iPhone or android. We dont want her to be a zombie. Today, i took her to the park and her classmates were there with there phones out. They were snap chatting and showing off pictures of their pets and sharing messages from other ppl. My daughter felt left out because she doesnt have one. After that I saved up money from chores and other things like that and now I have the iphone 7 plus! You missed one that I find important, the kid can have the parents old phones.
When you are in 6th or 7th grade you really should get a smartphone. Ive had periods of school with no phone, dumbphone and android and iphone. The times with no phone or a dumbphone have been the least sociable times of my life.

I don’t know for sure if I have it but I’m just guessing. I feel like I could never keep in touch with people! Having a phone honestly helps. It makes me feel comfortable and confident talking to others.

So i decided to shoot my shot and ask my Dad, my mum already said yes but everything goes through my dad in our house. So i wrote an email and an essay, as well as attaching this video. My Dad then came into my room and started shouting at me saying that I always give him the biggest headache and if he was to leave it would partly be my fault. He said I am not allowed social media (except you tube) until I turn 19 and no phone until I am 19. This really upset me because I took my time to do the research and I was respectful and didn't argue back. Anyone got any advice? Thank you so much in advance!

I think the earliest a kid should have a phone is 13 or maybe 12. anyone younger than 13 has no need for a phone. no 9 or 10 year old needs a phone. if they have to have a phone just get them a basic one. if they get everything at a young age what will they have to look forward to when they get older.

I say before middle school because middle school is more independent and has lots of scenarios were a phone with data will be needed.
I am 13 years old and I still don’t have a phone. My parents bought me an iPod 5 when I was 8, but got an iPad Mini when I was 11. I haven’t gotten anything since. I am on the Basketball team, and am very athletic. I just don’t understand why they won’t get me an iPhone.
this is my story: I am not allowed a phone (even a flip phone) until I turn 19 and I am not allowed any type of social media (except you tube).
so i am 14 years old turning 15 in 3 months and I still do not have a phone. I am a straight A student and always get high marks. Recently we had assessments online (I live in the UK) and these were my test results, in no way am I trying to brag: RE: 42/42 Science (Physics) : 31/35 Computer Science: 45/45 French: 56/58. I am very responsible and always do my chores even when not asked to. I look after my younger siblings and have never been disrespectful to any of my parents. So i decided to shoot my shot and ask my Dad, my mum already said yes but everything goes through my dad in our house. So i wrote an email and an essay, as well as attaching this video. My Dad then came into my room and started shouting at me saying that I always give him the biggest headache and if he was to leave it would partly be my fault. He said I am not allowed social media (except you tube) until I turn 19 and no phone until I am 19. This really upset me because I took my time to do the research and I was respectful and didn't argue back. Anyone got any advice? Thank you so much in advance!

sadly it won't, my dad reiterated the fact that i cannot have a phone until i am 19 so yeah. Guess i will have to wait 3 yrs and 3 months :/

@@eliannamay7313 i asked my dad this and he said even if i saved it up i wouldnt be allowed either way. Thank you for the advice though. Oh and btw my mum kinda lets me use her phone for my socials like snap and instagram but only for like 30 mins. So im grateful for that. But i would also like my own phone to call and ft my friends without bothering my mum.

I think the earliest a kid should have a phone is 13 or maybe 12. anyone younger than 13 has no need for a phone. no 9 or 10 year old needs a phone. if they have to have a phone just get them a basic one. if they get everything at a young age what will they have to look forward to when they get older.

13 is a good age to have a phone because you are starting to become a teenage and going out with friends and you need a phone to keep in touch with parents

I’m 11 years old and I still don’t have a phone. My mom said “you don’t need a phone,you have a tablet already”. I’m just like “ I do need one”.
I am from India my mom is telling me until you got 96%+ in my tenth grade (in India as marks are locally taken in percentages) in fact she told me that I would give you 50000 rupees you can get anything you want from it. I am now 13 years old. in my area we spoke dogri then the level plus language is hindi and the most high level is english now you can see how good my english is.^_^

You should get your child a phone at the age of 13, I'm 10 so I have 3 more years, but I feel like without a phone I understand stuff better in class than most people so I'm actually pretty much fine
