See, people made a huge fuss and got what they thought was the rightful name reinstated a few years back, but it has always been the Park to me- there was a riding stables there that had to move to West End Farm when the stables were turned into kitchens.....
Does anyone remember five residential caravans with their own front and back gardens on private land after Marford Ford? At the bottom of Sheepcote Lane? And the people who lived in them? Between the river and the farmer's field, where the Cory Wright Way is now, approx 1960 - 1976. I never see any photos of them.
@@Kirritoo Where did you have your ponies? My sister and I used to go to ponies kept on fields near the football ground behind what is now River Park and alongside the river. There was a lady called Ms. Hands who leased those fields. She bred welsh part bred arab ponies there. I believe there are miniature shetlands there now. It was in the 70's.
@@claireseyeviewonredbubble that is me and they are Miniature horses, not Shetlands! I have not had Shetlands now for 30 years. I bought two donkeys the girls used to ride, they came by most days on their way home in winter, or at weekends. In Summer I think they would have camped there if they could! Time Lamb still owns the land, that is Mr Lamb's son, I remember the milking herd but they went when old Mr Lamb died- there really is no incentive to be a dairy farmer these days, the supermarkets offer less than the milk costs to produce!
@@Kirritoo Sorry about that, Miniature horses. I'm a bit out of touch. Were the donkeys called Lucy and Molly? One chocolate brown and one grey? Ms. Hands had a grey part bred arab called Romy. If so, the two girls were myself and my sister! I remember Mr. Lamb, his wife and his daughter Carole. My sister and I fetched the cows in from the fields to the yard and into the sheds for milking and we helped feed the calves which were in the sheds around the yard. Sometimes we helped get veggies out of the field behind the farm on a Friday evening ready for Saturday am. market. We loved helping with the ponies although I'm not sure we were always much help!
@@claireseyeviewonredbubble Yes, Molly and Lucy, I bought Lucy after Molly got lonely being the only Donkey! Then I went into Arabs, had Arabs until 40 years ago, bought some Shetlands, went on from Shetlands to the Minis, I have only Minis now. Are you still in the area/

Where was the riding stables? I haven't been to Wheathampstead for decades so I'm out of touch. I look on RUclips hoping to see it.
@@claireseyeviewonredbubble The riding stables would have been long before your time. They were directly behind the pub, in what is now the kitchens..
