But doesn't that mean that you will also need to have an M2 endorsement on your CA drivers license, and insurance? I also don't want to be speed limited to 30 mph. I don't want to risk impoundment. Did you put the pedal kit on it?

@@addison888 I would advise you to not install the pedal kit with the new 25 tooth rear sprocket. If you do, you will lose all your low end torque. Get the kit with the longer chain that utilizes the original rear sprocket, I think 46 tooth.
The city slicker is sold here in New Zealand as a 50cc equivalent moped as it's limited it 30mph but with a 15 second button press combo it opens it up to 125cc equivalent. So we only pay $160 registration a year, no yearly inspection and no license needed. If it was a 125cc equivalent it would be $500 a year registration, a yearly roadworthy inspection and a full license

As a experienced dualsport then streetbike rider, who is starting to seriously look into electrics as a now older gent, appreciate these reviews.
Zero has other bikes for those interested in motorcycles. Some have twice the range of the FX shown here. The new Zero SR/F has breathtaking acceleration that tops out at 125mph. Lots of fun w/o burning any fossils :)

I realize this video is almost a year old but going forward can you also include warranty coverage and maybe a customer support comparison? I personally feel that this gives you an idea of the manufacturer’s trust and support of it’s product. Disclaimer: on April 8th i will have owned a GenZe 2.0 for 2 years AND will be picking up my Zero DSR-Black Forest (with charge tank option) in May if the country/world is back in business. BTW i have a little over 2,000 miles on the GenZe and love it.
The one piece of information I was waiting for is the charge rate. I own a Genze 2.0 and it takes about 4-5 hours to get my 30 miles from 0. I was hoping the CitySlicker charged a bit faster since I'm probably going to get one as well.

Having had both a scooter and a motorcycle, I wish you would have said something about wheel diameter vs stability. The larger wheel diameter on two of those scooters should make them feel more stable then the scooters with smaller wheels.

I have a Zoom Electric Scooter (Same as the Bloom scooter) and I had the same complaint about the rear suspension when I first got it and started riding it. I found it to be very stiff and the shocks would top out way to easy. I was riding the same position as you are in the video too. But the secret is very, very simple! When riding by yourself all you need to do is slide back on the seat farther, which is nice too, because it's allows for some really nice leg room. By distributing more body weight over the rear wheel and rear coil-over shocks, the smoother/ softer the ride will get. It's like a night and day difference. In fact, I'm not a tall guy, 5'6", but I find that I like riding with my back almost touching the back rest! Doing so gives me a full stretch out on my legs, which is especially nice on long rides. In conclusion, For the cost, in my opinion, the Zoom, (or Bloom) is absolutely the best value for the buck, and comes standard with the most features too.
@@michaelhinchey Hey thanks for your reply! The Zoom uses 6 SLA sealed lead acid type batteries. They are designed to not be removable, as all charging is done onboard, with the supplied charger at no extra cost. These type batteries should last 5 years or so, similar to a car battery. But when the time to replace comes, I plan on up-grading to lithium-ion, if not sooner. The cost of Lithium batteries is coming down each year. There are 3 batteries under the seat, and the other 3 are under the foot pan. They are easy to get to once the body panels are removed, along with the seat housing, and the foot pan. I ride it every chance I get and still loving it. Other than a small staple in the tire, I've had zero maintenance, and currently have 2275 Kilometers on it. I charge it up regularly and it will cruise at a solid 40 KPH. Not quite 30 mph, but plenty fast around town. I've had it now for just over a full year, and I can tell you that it looks as good as it did when it was brand new. I polished all the plastic panels with Dri-Wash & Guard, which keeps them glossy and slippery. The most detailing work is with the wheels, and under carriage. If you mention my name at Zoom Scooters, they may offer you an extra little discount! :)

That is quite heavy but not as heavy as their on board batteries. I also bought the luggage rack and cover. I think for the money it's perfect for what I need it for. I wish it was a bit faster but then it would have to be registered as a motorcycle. PA LAWS about these type of bikes are odd, weird and hard to understand. I wish they read more clear. Just use lead acid batteries for what they are then convert to lithium when the time comes. Its better at times then paying an overpriced premium for lithium batteries.

Hello, I have a question: I am a newbie, how do I make my bike waterproof, I ordered my 52v 48amp battery in triangle housing i need to make connectors as well as housing for the bike, there's no place to find custom ones, my bike will be cube aim pro 2019 29" version?
Not true. There are other Zero models that do support this, but the Zero FX and FXS only support charging from household current (110v in United States). There is an optional adaptor from J1772 (a typical electric car charger connector) to the Zero FX / FXS, but it doesn't actually charge any faster than household current (about 9 hours for a full charge). There is no level 2 or level 3 fast charging option for these bikes; the closest you can get is buying from 1-4 external charging bricks that can all multiplex together to bring the charging time down, but at $600 for each charging brick, that's not a great option. With that said, I love my Zero FX - it's got crazy power, is awesome for dirt or street, and I just plug it in overnight and I'm ready to go every morning.

I have a Red Zoom Electric Scooter, and even after a year I can still highly recommend them. Zero gas, Zero maintenance! I've got 2,275 Km's on it so far. You will not be able to find a better priced electric scooter with this many standard features. Especially, it you live in the US. :)
If you know of any good quality ebikes in Cambodia let me know. I am going to be moving there in July and will be living outside of Phenom Penh. Will be riding on dirt roads and tarmac roads. Driving speeds are moderate because of congestion and hazards. I am guessing the Zero would be the best however I will be passenger riding and some storage would be helpful. Like your channel and promoting ebikes is so important. This is the future!

You should review the electric Flux Moped. While listed as a moped, it is really a scooter. It is more powerful and reliable that low end scooters those you reviewed on this video. It easily cruses at 36 mph and is reliable. They based in Wisconsin and will ship to every state. 100% road legal. No mc license needed. Cost is $2400. I am a very satisfied customer.
Ever ride a emmo.There nice..I got a candy red one. The nice thing about it is the 4 speeds(gears)...u have. 4th being the highest ive got up to 66mph. I still want it to go faster. 85mph would be perfect! And here in ontario you have to have the pedals left on. I absolutely hate them. I feel the pedals can cause more accidents than anything. Especially turning corners.
For anyone reading this. You can upgrade the battery to lithium for some extra cash. Their batteries are gel based. This company seems to be a good group of people that answer your questions pretty quickly. My answers came on a sat. I considered the Bloom, bmw and vespa electrika but ultimately chose this bike over them because here in the usa we are in our infancy with electric scooters. The next 5 years you will see many advancements. #hopingtoagreenerfuture

They have a version that breaks the pack into two removable modules, but it's more expensive and most people say they end up not removing the batteries.
Just to clarify. Yeah the ZF7.2 battery is not removable, but it also weighs 90ib. The ZF3.6 battery option is removable from the fx and fxs models. Cheaper too. However with half the range. But you can add a second battery so... 3.6 + 3.6 = 7.2. So you can get the same range as the ZF7.2. with a modular battery, it is slightly more expensive though.
PLEASE do a top 5/10 video of the best EV’s for $1600 or under! America sucks and doesn’t have too many budget options unless you go to gas 😔 They got things like Honda Grom clones and stuff for super cheap, I wish Icebear made Electric bikes as they’re cheap and look sporty! Yes, Zero offers multiple kinds of electric motorcycles. Maybe the DS would be more comfortable. Powerwise there is also a 11kw version, at least in the European market.
the cord for the zero just laying there loose in the swingarm seems like a very odd and dangerous design!? I mean sure, it feels tight and compact, but imagine the cord coming loose and getting into your weel while driving!
There doesn't seem to be an electric equivalent of the 125cc bike i.e. speed 60 mph. 45 is a bit slow and the Zero is rather pricey. I am assuming these electrics will run all day (or at least as long as the battery lasts!) at max speed and have a much better acceleration than their petrol equivalent. Also regenerative braking would be the prefered system to increase range.
If you buy the Bloomscooter I think you're going to want to see a lot more of Micah in about a year. At that point the lead acid battery is all but guaranteed dead, Bloomscooter probably will have gone belly up and you will need to make a lithium battery yourself.
@micahtoll, @ebikeschool.com how come countries around the world are so strict with their EV laws? Ebikes in particular... Aren't electric bikes better for the environment and help reduce congestion? I believe if ebikes weren't regulated in such a strict way more people would be using them as a car replacement vehicle.

Instead of paying that retail premium, buy a 5kW hub motor and then $4k in batteries! That will give u 100 mile range at 40-50 mph. =D

Just use lead acid batteries for what they are then convert to lithium when the time comes. Its better at times then paying an overpriced premium for lithium batteries.

Hello, I have a question: I am a newbie, how do I make my bike waterproof, I ordered my 52v 48amp battery in triangle housing i need to make connectors as well as housing for the bike, there's no place to find custom ones, my bike will be cube aim pro 2019 29" version?
you missed that on the Zero, you can actually use the electric car chargers and fast chargers with an adapter. no one else has that.
Not true. There are other Zero models that do support this, but the Zero FX and FXS only support charging from household current (110v in United States). There is an optional adaptor from J1772 (a typical electric car charger connector) to the Zero FX / FXS, but it doesn't actually charge any faster than household current (about 9 hours for a full charge). There is no level 2 or level 3 fast charging option for these bikes; the closest you can get is buying from 1-4 external charging bricks that can all multiplex together to bring the charging time down, but at $600 for each charging brick, that's not a great option.
With that said, I love my Zero FX - it's got crazy power, is awesome for dirt or street, and I just plug it in overnight and I'm ready to go every morning.

I have a Red Zoom Electric Scooter, and even after a year I can still highly recommend them. Zero gas, Zero maintenance! I've got 2,275 Km's on it so far.
You will not be able to find a better priced electric scooter with this many standard features. Especially, it you live in the US. :)
Dongfang falcon has done me well. Mine may be 20kw now, but ehhh. They're easy to get to 7kw

If you know of any good quality ebikes in Cambodia let me know. I am going to be moving there in July and will be living outside of Phenom Penh. Will be riding on dirt roads and tarmac roads. Driving speeds are moderate because of congestion and hazards. I am guessing the Zero would be the best however I will be passenger riding and some storage would be helpful. Like your channel and promoting ebikes is so important. This is the future!

You should review the electric Flux Moped. While listed as a moped, it is really a scooter. It is more powerful and reliable that low end scooters those you reviewed on this video. It easily cruses at 36 mph and is reliable. They based in Wisconsin and will ship to every state. 100% road legal. No mc license needed. Cost is $2400. I am a very satisfied customer.

Ever ride a emmo.There nice..I got a candy red one. The nice thing about it is the 4 speeds(gears)...u have. 4th being the highest ive got up to 66mph. I still want it to go faster. 85mph would be perfect!
And here in ontario you have to have the pedals left on. I absolutely hate them. I feel the pedals can cause more accidents than anything. Especially turning corners.

For anyone reading this. You can upgrade the battery to lithium for some extra cash. Their batteries are gel based. This company seems to be a good group of people that answer your questions pretty quickly. My answers came on a sat. I considered the Bloom, bmw and vespa electrika but ultimately chose this bike over them because here in the usa we are in our infancy with electric scooters. The next 5 years you will see many advancements. #hopingtoagreenerfuture

BTW, the battery on the Zero is hilighted so much by the design, I would have been sure it was removable. it's a bit weird I guess..
They have a version that breaks the pack into two removable modules, but it's more expensive and most people say they end up not removing the batteries.
Just to clarify. Yeah the ZF7.2 battery is not removable, but it also weighs 90ib.
The ZF3.6 battery option is removable from the fx and fxs models. Cheaper too. However with half the range.
But you can add a second battery so... 3.6 + 3.6 = 7.2. So you can get the same range as the ZF7.2. with a modular battery, it is slightly more expensive though.

What about Super soco and the Tc Max ? That's a lot cheaper than the Zero which is totally inaffordable.
The Zero is no moped, every bike has his price for what it delivers.

Don't trust storing your cord in the Zero swing arm. I've done that with my Zero SR and it fell out while riding.

the cord for the zero just laying there loose in the swingarm seems like a very odd and dangerous design!? I mean sure, it feels tight and compact, but imagine the cord coming loose and getting into your weel while driving!

There doesn't seem to be an electric equivalent of the 125cc bike i.e. speed 60 mph. 45 is a bit slow and the Zero is rather pricey. I am assuming these electrics will run all day (or at least as long as the battery lasts!) at max speed and have a much better acceleration than their petrol equivalent. Also regenerative braking would be the prefered system to increase range.
I wish someone made an electric Cruiser. Something like a Rebel, Shadow or Vulcan.

If you buy the Bloomscooter I think you're going to want to see a lot more of Micah in about a year. At that point the lead acid battery is all but guaranteed dead, Bloomscooter probably will have gone belly up and you will need to make a lithium battery yourself.

@micahtoll, @ebikeschool.com how come countries around the world are so strict with their EV laws? Ebikes in particular... Aren't electric bikes better for the environment and help reduce congestion? I believe if ebikes weren't regulated in such a strict way more people would be using them as a car replacement vehicle.
