I think we've entered a new era of lenses with such a huge amount of pro level standard zoom lenses. Before it was just the 24-70 f2.8 but now we've got this, the sigma 28-45 f1.8, the sigma 28-105 f2.8 and now the sony 28-70 f2. There is so much choice to be had, you can really tailor your lenses to your specific needs a lot more now than you ever could have just 5 years ago. I just really wish soon these newer lenses are able to bring the wide end back to 24mm at some point down the line those 4mm can really make a difference (I know canon have the 24-105 f2.8 so heres hoping). Edit: I also forgot the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 in the list
I've watched several videos regarding this lens but that the fact that you mentioned it was sharp if not sharper than your primes is really reassuring as that was the only thing that was keeping me back from this lens. I love the 50mm f1.4 art but sometimes its just a bit too tight. I also love the 35mm f1.4 art but sometimes its too wide. I think think this lens would be perfect!
I took this lens hiking in Banff and came back with great pics. I find only one drawback, the bokeh coming out of this lens is not great. When Sigma updates their 35mm primes, I plan to trade in.
I bought this lens and haven’t used it in a client shoot yet…but I noticed when tilting the lens up and then down…it has a little clunking noise…is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
I sold my 50 1.2 a while back and needed a new main lens. I think I am a niche case where this lens makes a ton of sense. I mainly shoot weddings(video only) and have a 70-200ii. I love 24-70s but would find myself around 35 most of the time on them, the random cases where I used 70 were awesome but not worth 2.8. Also I use my gimbal for things such as first looks but overtime shooting handheld has become such a crucial asset when you learn to have steady hands, you can simply capture more and respond faster. This was sort of ranty but buying new lenses gives me anxiety lol I am going to buy it today, so I wanted to put this comment as a stake in the ground so I can follow up after using(theory/reality).
I would never carry around this brick instead of my GM 35 f1.4... 28mm and 35mm kid a one step... and with the 35mm you can use clear image zoom (like FX3's zoom rocker and reach to 52.5mm) also that's a f1.4 2/3 stop extra light.
If we ever get a 24-50mm 1.8, that will be the wedding lens of my dreams. Pair that with an 85mm and it'd be perfect. 28-45 is not quite enticing enough.
I get it, but from 28 to 45 there are just 17mm of difference, so I'm not shure if spending so much on a zoom with almost no zoom is worth it in any scenario, specially because is not only expensive but also big and heavy, a good 35mm is better in my opinion
Yeah, it’s not a huge zoom range, but if it was much more than the lens would be even bigger lol I also own a lens with a smaller zoom range (17-28) and although it’s not as wide of a range as I’d like (16-35) it is still usable.
@@ZacSopakyeah but the change between 28 and 45 is just not as useful as 16 to 35. It feels like it’s just a giant 35mm. 28 isn’t wide enough and 45 isn’t long enough.

@@Andy-bd3tw it sounds like it might be a good option for what you’re looking for. Everything I shot was at 1.8. Looked so good 🤌🏻

Anything in particular that made you feel Ike the bokeh wasn’t good? I didn’t mind it, but I didn’t get many opportunities to shoot in with it.
Nice review brother 🙏 keep it up! Ant from the UK.

It is most likely the focusing mechanism. Once you connect it to your camera and power it on you should be fine.
Would this lens replace your primes?
Already

@@g_lantos I hear that. I still have a soft spot for my primes (even though this lens is really impressive). Sounds like a sick setup!
Bro great video im sold on getting one of these for my camera bag
Side note my 24-70 f2.8 sigma I love!
I appreciate it! Hope you enjoy it!
That 24-70 is incredible!
Amazing stuff, glad I ran into your channel! Also so cool to see what God is up to in your church and city!
