The new type pike flies with a big eye seem to be very effective. They look like a piece of feathered rope that has been coloured. I use mackerel spinners on occasion.
Hello. I have caught many fish in sea and freshwater on hard bodied lures and spinners but never had the slightest touch on a soft plastic and I have tried many different ones over several years. I have mates that are very succesful with them but not me. Lol.
Exactly the sane as me. Had a few sessions with them fox rage before I got in to the fish. Absolutely agree with the lighter jig heads, both the pros and cons. It's great to get out for a few hours but can get a bit demoralising especially on the rochdale canal near me! Sometimes I've just gone for a walk instead 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂 Mate from what I can tell all the northern Canals are tough ! Probably why there aren’t many northern lure fishing guys on RUclips !! However it’s what we have to work with and the challenge is rewarding I guess 🎣 nothing wrong with just being out having a walk if you get a fish it’s a bonus !
I I lure fish the canal all the time and it is one tough cookie to crack, especially in winter. Summer is easy but it can be rock hard in winter, especially when coloured.I have worked very hard the last few years on my lure fishing and I nave blanked twice this week. Don’t give up the water will clear and the fishing will improve. I fish the burscough area so not so far from you. I’m goin on a lake tomorrow, much better clarity .
@@WestysAngling probably. Blanked my deadbait session when there was match fishing almost every spot I usually fish for pike on Bank Holiday Monday. Must have fed a lot fish that day. I didn’t even know it was Bank Holiday Monday lol 😂
May I just ask. Who did win the competition for best answer to when fish leave the edges. You has some great answers so just wondered which one you chose.
Sounds great, thank you for the offer !unfortunately I work weekends, it can be quite hard for me finding time. However hopefully I see you around sometime 👌🏻👍🏻🎣 I could use the tips and knowledge 😂
in my experience buddy its always harder on more colored venues or just after heavy rainfall anyways westy so well done on ya perch...but looking how pale that perch was im guesing its a pretty colored canal...?...anyway those spikeys are brilliant lures but i use em in the larger 12 cm ..redhead! had even chub hit em!...tight lines to you and ya dad....until next time...
