Thanks for your detailed updates. It's nice to know that they at least offer a replacement. This just happened to me and it's a complete nightmare. Hopefully I'll be able to get the replacement as well.
I'm having the same issue and contacted Google customer service. Rep walked me through to troubleshoot but already knew there was nothing Google could do. Issue was transferred to LG. Only option was to send my phone in for repairs which can take 2-3 weeks. No replacement option. Mortified at this experience and not having any solution. Everything was lost on my phone because no way to back up after it goes into Bootloop mode...
so I'm having the same issue and contacted googles customer service but then was moved over to LG to discuss repairing my phone and not a replacement. I asked them about getting a replacement and they said that the phone can only be repaired
jared, how about the data on your phone?? They sent me a shipping label to send it back for 'repair' but I need the data on the phone and this phone has only an internal memory card that as far as I know cannot be removed. Do they mention anything about backing up the phone??
vaibhav mangla mine was not. My warranty expired that October and the issue occurred in December. It's still best to contact LG to see if they are able to do anything about it. hopefully they can.
They offered me a G4 or a G5. And I found out the G5 is the AT&T model, meaning it's still on Marshmallow. I see that as a downgrade. Any advice on trying to negotiate a refund or something from LG?
this just happened to me. what should I do? still have the one year warranty though. im from indonesia and this phone bought in Singapore. please help. LG Service Center in Indonesia wont support it cause this phone not released in INdonesia
Donald Nababan Honestly, get rid of it. If the warranty you have covers this manufacturer defect, then immediately replace the phone with an different phone. Not a replacement 5X, a completely different phone/model. There is not much you can do being outside the US unfortunately. There is currently an ongoing class action lawsuit against LG over this defect.
so sad... thanks for your information. but please could you tell me where should i claim this warranty? perhaps you have the information. i find it very difficult to find
The lawsuit can be found here: www.girardgibbs.com/lg-g4-bootloop-class-action-lawsuit/ Your laws differ than mine. Assuming you have the standard 1 year manufacturer warranty (like here in the US), then begin the repair process here lgmobilerepair.com/request_repair Otherwise you'll have to take it back to where you got it from if possible. The seller should either give you a refund or replace your phone with something else. The bootloop issue is well known by now as it's been reported as early as 2016 October. The seller SHOULD have known about it so I would argue with the seller about a replacement or refund.
shashank mor there is no specific email. Even so, this video is well over a year old and LG did offer some sort of compensation early 2017, but that too has also passed. What I did originally was submit a request here: lgmobilerepair.com/request_repair
I am an Indian user i am facing the same problem but when contacted LG Service Center they said since it is out of warranty i need to pay them 12k Indian rupees and get it repaired and they wont offer any replacement or refund is that true?
I don't know if it's based on the country you live in or if the time to ask for replacement/refund has passed. Since I'm based in the US, it may very well be different. The site I specifically used is: www.lg.com/us/support/repair-service/schedule-repair-continued
Yes I sent the phone as is, no cables or accessories was sent as their directions stated to only ship the phone. Technically you could remove the battery, but because it requires some disassembly to remove it which may have voided any additional warranty, so I left it in. I did remove my SIM card though since I used my old S4 to get by. Since I was shipping a lithium battery though, I made sure the packaging was secure because lithium batteries.
Thanks Mr Cisco. But they are saying now that we can not replace the phone as it is out of warranty. I am just calling LG support center. Any other people whom I should contact for this issue?
Essentially yes. It's damn near impossible to get it to boot once it starts to happen. At the time I made this video, yes replacement was the only option for ME. Some users were able to get a full refund of the device, but I was not given that option despite providing receipts of my purchase from the Google store.
I went to the LG chat. They extended the warranty on 5x for this problem. so I sent it in. They will make you do a factory reboot though :/. So back your stuff up to the cloud first if you can. It takes about 15 days to get it repaired though.
I have not. They received mine on the 8th and the status still says "Repair in progress" and there is no ETA on the status page either. I've been getting by with my old S4.
I finally got an email regarding the repair, I will contact them tomorrow morning. I've updated the video description with a link to the email they sent me.
This wasn't the nexus 5 sequel we all hoped. LG lost a lot in refunds to customers (who bought them from LG) back in November for a similar event and basically cashed out and gave the repairs to repairmen after running out of parts from production. LG doesn't make the OS/updates, Google phones get android stuff first: It's a risky perk. It's worth mentioning that the Nougat Update & Security updates changed a LOT. UI/UX stuff, partitions and file structure, SafetyNet, battery behavior, etc etc. Its a phone-killer. There is no wiping and flashing to an earlier build, your phones motherboard needs replaced if it didn't handle all the pixel-ish system changes correctly in the end. If you want a pretty and new experience for android- you're better off getting the pixel.
> a LG G5. In my opinion an exact replicable of the 5X, Huh? It's not even a 'replicable' (sic). How can it be an EXACT replicable (sic)? Two different phones.
this happened to me yesterday :( I hate that Google isn't doing anything about it. this all happened as soon as I updated to 7.1.2
Manny Ramirez it happened to me today
Philip Ivanov yeah, LG said they were doing full refunds.
Manny Ramirez, hopefully they do this, because this was waste of money....
Beta 7.1.2? Or did you receive proper one already?
B Oo yes beta 7.1.2 and I haven't called LG or Google yet. I got a new phone.

Holy crap. same issue. It was perfectly well until today!
Get in contact with LG for a refund.
Did you have to show proof of purchase?
They do ask for it yes.
was your phone in warranty. I am facing similar problem. and i am not sure LG guys will replace my phone since it is out of warranty.

did you find any solution ?
Veeresh Gogeri I found out that if your bootloader is unlocked, you can't boot into recovery
Veeresh Gogeri f..k man
damn this phone... it happened to me yesterday....are they refunding post warranty period too?
Sheikh Mohd Waseem hey bro have you got your refund
Can you help me with the email address where I should send the email to google or LG for replacement?
shashank mor there is no specific email. Even so, this video is well over a year old and LG did offer some sort of compensation early 2017, but that too has also passed. What I did originally was submit a request here: lgmobilerepair.com/request_repair

Thanks bro my 30k is wasted i have used my phone for 1.yr and 2 months only never go for LG products once again
Yea same here. I gave the replacement phone to my dad and am currently using my old galaxy S4. It's old, but it works.
Why is this happening? I bough my 5x in august 2016 and i am scared that mine goes to bootloop too...:(
manue Manufacturer error. From the reports I read at the time, it's only happening to a small set of users. < 10% of 5X are affected.
Even 9% isn't a small presentage of users
Hi Mr Cisco. When sending your nexus 5x phone did you send it with battery, back plate and sim tray or you removed and sent the rest? Thank you
Yes I sent the phone as is, no cables or accessories was sent as their directions stated to only ship the phone. Bloody happened to me yesterday it did get to home screen this afternoon then went to the google thing again.
Same bootloop issue with my 5x. Ugh.
Same here, dissappointed
Is there a solution for this? my 5X Just did that
I'm having the same issue. Just happened. So is it bricked? Is a replacement the only way?
Essentially yes. It's damn near impossible to get it to boot once it starts to happen.
At the time I made this video, yes replacement was the only option for ME.
Some users were able to get a full refund of the device, but I was not given that option despite providing receipts of my purchase from the Google store.
so I'd essentially have to get a new phone? : please get back to me as soon as you can

I have not. They received mine on the 8th and the status still says "Repair in progress" and there is no ETA on the status page either. I've been getting by with my old S4.
They have received mine on the 19th and the eta is 6 business days, please tell my if you end up getting a refund or a fixed phone.
jared swartz The status still says "Repair in progress", I'm not sure what's taking them as they have had mine for almost two weeks now. :/
yes, mine has said the ETA is 6 days for the past 3 days. I may end up calling LG
I finally got an email regarding the repair, I will contact them tomorrow morning. I've updated the video description with a link to the email they sent me.
