Coffee shops were always strange places to me. However loud it was on the streets, within the walls of a coffee shop it was always quiet with its very own kind of silence. They weren't soundless, but everything sounded peaceful and soothing.
I always used coffee shops to escape from the busy days, to find shelter from rain or to find comfort with some people to share it with. It was a place to hang out with friends, but it always was okay to be alone there either.
This song is dedicated to the very special silence that enjoying a Cappuccino in a coffee shop brings.

I remember the first time I heard this song...over 3 years ago...post breakup, deployed alone to a strange, stressful, and dangerous place (In Africa), and I just found out days earlier that my best friend had ended himself. At that time, I had made a habit of staying up very late so I could try and talk my friend through his problems, and also because I couldn't sleep...I was so tired. I tried my hardest...I stayed up sometimes until 6 in the morning even though I had to report in at 0700 most days. But it wasn't enough. I was numb those first 2 or 3 days, but this particular night I broke down. After drifting off to sleep, for no more than 30 minutes or so, I awoke to a foreign feeling of loss, confusion...feeling be tra yed that I was left alone...to THIS song. After listening to it for about 30 seconds, I started to cry. Quietly, deeply, painfully spasming...but not uttering a sound. I couldn't tell anyone about any of this, they wouldn't have understood, and they depended on me. I had to stay ready. So I kept it all hidden away. To this day no one knows what happened, but that was the 1st, and only, time in my life I ever contemplated leaving. I had the means to do it sitting right under my cot, and the motivation too...Thankfully, I didn't. I haven't been the same since, but I survived my toughest day *sigh* It's been over 3 years and I've never told anyone this, nor will I tell them now. But it feels good to type it all out. So you see. This song is VERY important to me.
this was hard to read, i'm so so sorry for your loss and for all this hardship you had to go through. i'm glad that this music helped you relieve yourself of some of the pain. i'd like to think that i had some part in saving your life, too. you know, once in a while i'm thinking of giving up music and letting go of all this pressure and stress and then i read comments like yours that remind me that my music is much, much more important to some people than i think. that what i'm doing matters a lot. please know that you've moved me a lot and that you're one of the reasons why next time I'm having doubts, i'll put them aside again to continue my journey.

So many people these days are too disconnected... too afraid to hear others problems due to an innate feeling of awkwardness ,an inability, or an unwillingness to help others. I am ok though. I have come a long way from that era. I have changed, but entirely for the better. I appreciate things more now. A silver lining, from my walk through hell. Thanks for responding.
@@psychopompous3207 Sorry about your losses, this song became important to me as well, since I'm going through a breakup myself and she introduced this song to me, so it's def hard to not think about her. This song reminds me of her and all the good times we both had and this song does make me tear up time to time, but I hope things get better from here as time is moving and she is as well. @@JvangLovesTurtles Thank you. All is now well. I've thought about it a lot, I still think about it, and I imagine I will for the rest of my life. But I am at peace with it. In addition to that, I had also broken up with a girl shortly before it, so I know how you feel. It took me about 6 months to really get over that relationship. Time truly does heal. Of note, mine and my exes song was "Butterfly Waltz". I used to get sad hearing that too, but I managed to reclaim it for myself. I thankfully have managed to reclaim this wonderful song too. Edit: Found a thing called melody scanner. It cost money (though there might be a free trial), but it apparently allows you import songs from RUclips and put into piano music and guitar tabs. Check it out and post back here how it is, gotta get back to work.
