    I raise chickens but my wife gave me a cockatiel egg from her birds that she didn't think they were sitting on. Today I wondered my chicken eggs were chirping already but it turns out it was my cockatiel egg it was sitting at the bottom of my incubator no turning no checking it, just left it in there and unexpectedly it did hatch and now I'm watching your videos and going to the store to buy the equipment to hand feed this baby. Thanks for the instruction!

    SOS! If I have to move the chick from their parents immediately when they hatch, and I live somewhere thats usually 95 degrees, do I need an incubator or the chicks will be fine without any additional heat? Please advise.

      The eggs need to incubate around 98 degrees F. it would take much more heat and you're to that point.

    My cockatiels just laid 4 eggs...They have been in their cage and box for about 8 days...what do I do?...

      Sounds to me that they are doing their job...sitting on the eggs. Mt subjection would be to get ready to have baby's. we always hope that the parents will feed them and take care of them, however they may not. That's when you need to be prepared to take over the feeding process. I have videos going into details on this very thing. Keep me posted on what happens with the chicks.

    It’s winter now, and one baby just hatched, mom is doing a great job, but is it enough to keep the baby warm? They don’t let us get near them, but we are keeping an eye. They’re keeping her warm and Feeding it as well. Im just concerned if her body heat is enough to keep baby warm in this cold weather. Thank you

      Newborns need to stay around 98 degrees.

    I'd love your opinions on when YOU would remove chicks from the parents? What are signs of bad parents? Or incapable parents?

      That's a great question. 1. Roughly two weeks. 2. Do they sit on the eggs, once hatched do they feed. You really just have to keep an eye on them daily.

    Around how many weeks should they be before putting them in a cage for the day. Is 6 weeks to early?

      I think that would be fine. as long as your home is not too cold or drafty. I always want my birds to be fully feathered before I do this. Introduce them to the cage a few hours at a time.

    If 3 babies are 4days -1 week old, what temp would you start them at??? And what humidity would you start with? I have the SAME incubator u have! Btw

      At that age I still have mine pretty warm. 93 to 95... in that range. That's what works for me in my climate.

      @@2TOOS I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there is no specific humidity lvl. The only thing I can think of, is that if you live in a location with very high humidity, I'd be worried about it getting too high in the brooder.. and keeping it down. ❤️
      Again, not an expert, just from what I have found from my own research.

    Why do some people tell you to incubate Cockatiels at 99.5? But you’re saying 98? Is 99.5 too hot?

      My daughter put two of her cockatiel eggs in the incubator with a bunch of chicken eggs, not really thinking they’d do anything. To our surprise, there was a tiny baby cockatiel in the incubator two days ago! The temp was set to 100 degrees for the chickens and so far, baby birdie is still doing well! He’s made it through two nights now so lm thinking we might actually be able to do this

    I have 4 new babies. The parents are doing a great job, however I am worried the nest is getting to dirty, can I clean it? I am keeping all my birds in a room, temp of 75-80 . Currently have 4 adults cockatiels and the 4 babies. I also have a lovebird. Any advice as to taking care of them the best way.

    I was given a batch of eggs from a lady across town. I hatched most of them. Is there such a thing as failure to thrive for some of these babies. I had some that were 10 days old and almost as small as the a new born. And the other 10 day olds were 10 times as big. Then eventually after 2 weeks the tiny birds died. They came from super small eggs. What could I have done to assure that they lived. Anything?

      slowly start bring that down a degee every three days. but keep a close eye on them. these guys can easily dehydrate with too high of a temp. kevin

      The incubator and brooders we use all have digital style thermometers that regulate the heat source. We have other videos that show the incubator and brooder in more detail.     My quaker lays a lot of infertile eggs even though I never provide nesting materials. Last year she laid 18 eggs, and 27(!!) this year. She is paired with a male, and they seem getting along well, but she never produced fertile eggs. And I don’t know what to do with her egg laying..

      This is a hard situation. Sounds like one of two things. One of the pair are not capable of producing or they're not mating at all. It's hard to get them to stop laying eggs. and some birds just want to mamas. I worry about her getting egg bound laying so many. she needs lots of calcium in her diet. maybe a supplement! let me know how's she's doing. Kevin

    Hi. I have 3 baby cockatiel since 4 days they were fine at beginning 2 days ago one of ther was thrown up the formula yesterday same for other too and there was a strong wind that night, suspicious they got cold. And i started to use my brooder and temp is 30-33c.. There ages is around 20 days im uploading there video and if u could help me i appreciate it. I started to give them medicine doxycycline mixed with formula. And about VET i live in north iraq blind man knows much better than VET HERE 😔

      sorry for the late reply. I think the brooder is the best thing for the babys. when i find my babys ill I always put them on heat. Learned that from a Vet 30+ years ago. Let me know how they're doing.... Kevin

He was 65 gram few days ago so slim and on the edge of death and today hes 75 gram still not willing to take handfeeding amd after force handfeeding formulabhe throw up most of it and i used some Aple cider vangar and it helps the vomet but i don't know how to use it like how many time ad dosage

      @@cindyhiggins4383 Every bird will be a little different. I have some right now that are two weeks old and I'm still getting up and feeding them. You have have to get to know your bird that your feeding. some will hold the food longer so you can go longer in-between feedings. Remember, you only want them to go completely empty once a day.     Hello my dad and I are raising and incubating cockatiel eggs. Today we woke up to our incubator having 64%-70% of humidity level. I read online that 50-60 percent is the ideal temperature. But is this okay for the eggs?
    Another thing too we were worried because one of our embryos in the egg seemed to stop moving. The chick inside seems to look okay and progressing but we are not sure if the humidity level being at 64-70 percent is what affects it. Please let us know when possible thank you

      That's a bit on the high side. But, i don't think this would be the cause of a bad egg. Higher humidity has more of an effect on hatched baby's.

      Another thing I wanted to ask, is it normal for the embryo to not move in the egg? Recently we noticed this and it apparently still have a view veins and blood vessels and we can see the chick inside but it hasn’t been moving

      @@Bird.Squawk thank you, we checked on him now after 4 days and have concluded that he did not make it. we did however had two chicks hatch today.
      We have the exact same incubator that you have (the big styrofoam one), and we wanted to know if you suggest using it as a brooder and leaving them in there for over 24hrs, or move them out in a homemade brooder with a heating lamp?

    I need your advice!!! My baby African grey hatched 3 days ago and the yolk didn't draw in all the way so now a little bit hardened and sticks out his stomach is this gonna be a major issue in the future or will it just fall off eventually?

      Without seeing I can't answer this. To be honest Ive seen this go both ways. My best advice would be play it safe and see an avian vet. Keep us posted on what happens. Kevin

      The temperature will change depending on the age of the chick. New hatchling will stay at incubation temp of 37.0 for a few days to a week, then the temperature can very slowly be decreased as the chicks grow, get older and get feathers.

    Have 2 green cheeks and there about 1yr and 5months they had there first 5 eggs and everyone was infertile why? They have plenty of good food calcium there really good pets not mean she sat on them the whole time even though they were duds what happened you think? Too young or just the male missed his mark. Need some advice from a breeder. Thnks

      First thing to check the gender. May be both are female. Happened with my breeding couple once. If it’s male and female then check if they are mating and observe that. You will surely get some clues. Use wooden perches instead of plastic. All the best.

I have dna sheets on both and they are male female also i have wooden perches and they eat the best plenty of whats needed nutrition wise this is why i was so shocked and bummed out when there were infertile. Now that you mentioned it about watching how he mates he was realy sideways looked as if he had trouble hopping on the saddle but was constantly going at it.

    What about the humidity levels? I was told that I need to monitor the humidity level, but I don't know what humidity level to keep the baby I'm gonna get shortly at, much less how to keep the humidity level up to whatever it needs to be inside a brooder.
