When the City Center in NYC as part of their Encores series doing classic broadway musicals recreated this show they brought back Julie Newmarket in her original role of Stuperfying Jones. In the film Jerry Lewis makes a cameo appearance to demonstrate her ability to stop men in their tracks
My older brother and sister had a Sadie Hawkins dance in their high school. It looked like fun to a 9 y.o. We didn't have it by the time I got to high school. I don't know if I missed out.
The whole movie has a stylized comic strip look to it. It is supposed to look like a cartoon drawing not a photograph. Besides, it would be unfair to make professional dancers risk injury by dancing on an uneven surface.
can anyone please tell me why 6 women who are having thier husbands "beautified " in Washington DC at the beginning of the movie ( about 36 mins in) are entering the sadie hawkins race?? that just doesnt make sense
The choreography for this song is incredible! The dances must have been exhausted afterwards!
Where I lived back in the 70s. Sadie Hawkins day was every Friday, Saturday night at Hawaiian Gardens
I was a Dogpatcher in a Li'l Abner production once and chased fear-crazed bachelors with a butterfly net during the Sadie Hawkins race.
Cool!
Wonderful! I grew up reading the comic strip in our paper! It was funny, even if it was on its last legs!
I was a Dogpatcher, too, in a high school production! 😁

Julie Newmar truly is 'Stupefyin'!'
she looks amazing.
Legs for Days!
Perfect casting, but so was Stella Stevens as Appassionata von Climax.

Sadie Hawkins Day every November 17th.Less violent and bloody than THE PURGE,but equally as terrifying.
The maidens probably spend a whole year in training for Sadie Hawkins Day.
They did 😉
Just for the record, that's Valerie Harper in the orange dress and white hat
Some set designer really goofed this entire sequence. It's supposed to be taking place OUTDOORS, yet the race is being run on A STUDIO FLOOR.

They're Man Hungry!
A young Valerie Harper at 1:23 to the far left! Anyone else notice her? The one in the orange dress?
yes. look for the song: put em back. on you tube. she is featured.
Francesca S. Thanks for the tip!
The girl in the pink dress at the other end of the line is Beth Howland who played Vera on "Alice."
Can't we see the full movie?

That drove me crazy too. It was one of a few plot holes in this movie. Plus Moonbeam Mcswine was too lazy in the comics to be in the race.
has anyone seen anybody run like that
You didn't put a hood on somebodies head just to leave with the seven brothers. How is anybody supposed to know how tall I am. NB
I'm sorry, but the "bombshell" who supposedly stops men in their tracks isn't as lovely as Daisy Mae herself 😊
