Thanks for the beta on the first pitch.. Funny thing is that I saw myself in your video- that's me and my son (he's in the red hoodie) coming down after the climb while you are on your way up!! What are the odds of that awesomeness- I live in Missouri!
Very impressive! Climbing down that back side was literally the scariest moment of my life! It got extremely windy up there and without ropes, I was afraid I'd get blown off. Watching this brought back the feeling of terror I had 15 years ago!
Hey, wow this looks super fun. I've never been to the Flatirons but I'm looking it up on Mountain Project -- do you know the name of routes you took for the ascent and descent? I'm super curious. Thanks for sharing this awesome video, I hope that kid isn't still stuck on the ledge!
This climb is 5.6, which is about the boundary between scrambling and climbing for most experienced climbers. So, most climbers probably wouldn't solo it, but it's also not any particular feat to do so
He trail ran up to the 1st flatiron… have you ever done that hike? I’ve seen tourists unable to even walk the entire thing. High altitude, with a TONE of elevation gain. I’ve soloed the 2nd flatiron and the parking lot to the top is a drastic elevation gain. So I take it that you just run, and climb up entire mountains at a resting breath rate? 🙄
Yes! Thank you for including footage of the down climb. You are a rockstar.

That's awesome! When I was editing the footage, I thought your kid was laughing at me b/c I had a go-pro on my head : ) thanks for sharing!

The guys at the top seemed pissed to see you Free Solo their proj.
Awesome video! I just did some scrambling on the flatirons the other day, but watching the footage of you downclimbing still made my hands sweat 😂 😂
This is such a cool video. Bummer he only ever uploaded two videos because the content is awesome.
That looks incredibly steep.
I did this a few years back while visiting Boulder. It looks way more peaceful without a blizzard going on.
That’s crazy, motivation to face exposure
Great video dude. I want to climb it to when I visit boulder, but I don’t want to freak out like the guy at the beginning of your climb 😅😅
Awesome stuff! Can't wait to get over and do this in the summer!
@wonyakomenuras1247 It went great! Did the four of them in a day! Was very tired. Can't believe it was seven years ago... Christ
climbed this so many times.... never knew there was a down climb off the back side
What model are those La Sportiva shoes? Love their shoes, and these look nice!
Bro what shoes were you wearing here to get that good of traction??
Going down seems twice as freaky as going up.
Did this one today! Fun climb!
Yo can you take me?
What would you rate the down climb?
Dope climb brotha
That’s not the normal/easier way down is it? Wanting to this in July but that down climb seemed harder than other videos.
Looks way scarier with a gopro than when you're actually on it haha. How does it compare to the second flatiron? Easier/harder/same?
significantly more challenging
Harder, 1st and third are steeper’s entry class 5
Much harder than the route everyone takes on the 2nd (Freeway), but imo it's slightly easier than the summit route on the 2nd (Free For All)
Mad Lad!

So, in the climbing community, is it generally not that strange for people to free solo this? Because a fall would mean certain death.
exactly what i was thinking. i saw this on a “things to do in colorado” list and it said it was light climbing. nothing about this looks light.
It’s not light so scary

I’ve climbed this roped. I would not solo this.
The only one that most people solo is the second flatiron, most use ropes on this, however there are still a good amount of people who don’t
Sick!
Word!
nice beta
Nice free solo. What is the grade? 5.9?
5.6
how hard is that downclimb
It really isn't too bad, jugs the whole way
It's a classic climb but I hate go-pro videos like this!
I dislike it when people breathe so laboriously during solos it gives the impression youre not fully comfortable and that makes me uncomfortable
He was moving quickly, and the approach hike up in itself is a good solid workout. Clearly he was precise, and comfortable.
@@christopherInzano seemed like a run of the mill mouthbreather to me, but we can agree to disagree.
