Tuning in from across the world from you at approximately 25 minutes into your videocast, first our hearts and thoughts go out to the terrible weight of having someone a hostage or having lost a family member from the 7 October attack. Equally, all life lost on the Palestinian side has broken hearts. What has struck me in the last few weeks is how we in the west are satisfied, like you two gentlemen, to be simply talking and reporting about Israel having to defend itself from incoming missiles, rockets and the like instead of helping an ally with our military might if necessary to put an end to this atrocious experience that must have all Israelis shell-shocked to say the least. Who can go to sleep this night in Israel feeling 100% safe from another attack? The Iron Dome is fine, but it only placates one for a small amount of time before one realizes how absurd it is in the first place to have to have an Iron Dome in place! It suddenly occurred to me that the thing we---and by we, I mean the west, should be demanding whoever is sending in the bombs and drones and missiles and rockets to stop it immediately. The Israelis are our brothers and sisters---like the Palestinians, Iranians, Lebanese etc., but we should be helping Israel by demanding a halt to the daily missile and drone attacks and if the people who are doing this continue to do so, then I firmly believe we must tell them in no uncertain terms, we will make them stop to the point where they can never do it again. What country in the world would not react if missiles were being rained down upon them 24/7? This would accelerate the peace process, because once the incoming ordinance was ceased and Israelis could begin to live a more normal life, then it would be more on the negotiating table to hammer out accords on how to live together in peace in the volatile region. Yes; this might be viewed as a declaration of war, but it would be surgical strikes on where ever the launch systems were located. It would change the face of the conflict in a heartbeat.
