This is destined to be another classic, on par with the Cirrus Preflight and your "Rental Fleet" videos. I may be biased, but I think this is one of the best looking airplanes you have featured in your videos ;-)

@@JustPlaneSilly Mooney pilots are thick skinned. We are used to hearing how Mooney's are cramped and other comments from pilots who have never flown one.

I can testify that it's tough getting frisky in a Mooney. My girlfriend and I joined the Mile High Club on a trip to South Florida in the early 1990's.
We got it done....but barely.

Brian, I come back to this video a few times a year: MOOOONEY, you can twist and turn knobs the whole flight if you want to! This does not have enough views! IMO this is one of the best series you've done.

Ok, just when I'm trying to breath again after nearly pissing myself laughing over that line, comes this one: "All your radio calls gonna be smoooooth as butter, baby----yeeaaah...." If you know and love the Mooney at all, I think this video is the best comedic tribute ever. Makes fun of the airplane's strengths and weaknesses. Dude, this was funny shit.... Thanks so much for making my day! This makes me want to buy that Mooney as my first airplane more than ever!

Its a sweet looking tail. I like the mildly reverse wing sweep as well. Probably the strongest wing spar in GA too.

@@asiasmells71 there have been a handful, but all of them have been flutter-induced tail separation from guys dropping out of heavy icing conditions at 300+ kts
There are actually two cases where the plane was subjected to over 10Gs and the pilots survived. Both were thunderstorm encounters. One of them didn't notice any damage until after he had already flown it again, and noticed some rivets were missing and the wing skins were wrinkly in places. The other guy had to go to the ER after landing for internal bleeding, and the wings were reportedly visibly damaged.
Both cases, Mooney examined them and determined that severe G loading had occurred. The worse of the two was estimated to have been exposed to 13 Gs for 1-2 seconds.

I’ll take it! I learned to fly at freeway airport (W00) which is also a Mooney service center. Yeah, it’s pretty much a 2 seater but they rock! I was never able to lean the one I flew enough to achieve 3 gallons per hour but 180 knots works for me!

Just Plane Silly, I am a IT professional as well, with my own small business. 20 clients and growing. 25 years experience. I started in the 90’s when Windows 3.11 came out connecting business computers to share one printer and documents.
I've never flown a Mooney but have seen a few out at the airport, as well as similar planes that also have the tail on backwards. Does that mean that you have to reverse the rudder inputs or there an aftermarket conversion that can make the plane easier for fly for "normal" pilots?
Mooney tail is oriented correctly, everyone else got it backwards...

So the fin is like that because the pilots always leave the pitch trim in full nose up to stop them diving into the ground. :-)

Anyone who likes those planes never had to work on one. The early Mark20C's - when you took the cowling off - you saw a sheet metal box with 4 rocker box covers - inside was an engine. You had to pull the engine if you ever needed to change a prop governor. No Thanks!
