  • In this Science (Chemistry) video for Class 9 in Hindi we explained Rutherford atomic model. This is a topic from Chapter 4 -'Structure of Atom' of NCERT Science.
    Ernest Rutherford suggested Hans Geiger and Ernest Marsden to conduct an experiment which, today, is known as Alpha Scattering Experiment.
    After that experiment Rutherford concluded -
    (1) The positive charge and most of the mass of the atom is densely concentrated in extremely small region. This very small region inside the atom was called nucleus by Rutherford.
    (2) The nucleus is surrounded by electrons that move around the nucleus with very high speed in circular paths called orbits. Thus, Rutherford atomic model resembles the solar system in which the nucleus plays the role of sun and the electrons that of revolving planets.
    (3) Electrons and the nucleus are held together by electrostatic force of attraction.
    This atomic model is known as Rutherford atomic model.
    But this atomic model has drawbacks -
    (1) According to electromagnetic theory an accelerated charge radiates electromagnetic radiation and loses its energy. Revolving objects have acceleration and electrons are negatively charged, hence revolving electrons must radiate electromagnetic radiation and lose energy. Thus, orbit must shrink and electrons must spiral into the nucleus. Calculations show that it should take an electron only 10 -8 s to spiral into the nucleus. But this does not happen. Thus Rutherford model cannot explain the stability of an atom.
    (2) Rutherford model does not say anything about the electronic structure of atoms, i.e., how electrons are distributed around the nucleus and what are the energies of these electrons.

    Sir if we will look according to Bohr's model it says that negitival charged electron rotates around the nucleus if (➰Aplha)particles are positively charged then why alpha particles are not attracting with the negetvely charged electron because postive and negetive attractes right then why is it not attracting sir ???

      @GAURAV 9TH B Makes sense also it can be that alpha particles is already attached with the electrons and other alpha particle are then free to go

    • @tech_xplorer_shekhar
      @tech_xplorer_shekhar Год назад +7

      Good question, i hope you will understand my explanation. Alpha particles are attracted by the electrons . As there is much empty space in atom so there are few electrons are present in atom. The direction of alpha rays slightly changed due to the attraction, and also alpha particles have high kinetic energy so electrons can only tilt their path .

    • @QueenMedusa-1-btth
      @QueenMedusa-1-btth Год назад +4

      Bro reason ya hai ki electron and proton ki sankhya atom me equal hai
      Isliye atom neutral hai
      Or alpha particle positive charge neutral ko attract nahi kata hai

    Sir, if Rutherford was expecting most of the Alpha particles to bounce back after hitting the gold foil then why did he give the following famous statement,
    "This result was almost as incredible as if you fire a 15-inch shell at a piece of tissue paper and it comes back and hits you".

    • @edupoint.secondary
      @edupoint.secondary  3 года назад +4

      Someone was expecting X.
      Experiment ke baad result aaya Y.
      Aage jab wo baat karega to Y ke baare me hi karega na.
      Toh fir aap kahenge, "usne Y ke baare me baat kiya, to iska matlab usne X ke baare me socha hi nahi tha."
      Kamaal hai dost !!!!

      E. Rutherford experiment:
      *Had Thomson's model been correct, all the alpha particles should have passed through the foil with minimal scattering.
      *Geiger and Marsden observed was that a small fraction of the alpha particles experienced strong deflection.
      As you said at 7:30m, E. Rutherford not expected to "rebound" most the alpha particles.
      That's why he commented of firing of 'shell' to a tissue paper. Alpha particles are very faster and heavier than gold atoms layer.

    Sir, In Cathode Ray experiment I want to know that was cathode ray visible or invisible. In my opinion It should be visible without any Flouscence material because When hydrogen atom electron loses energy it should radiate energy in form of light. Same as In neon light gases are filled and same in lightning In the sky Ionized nitrogen gas electrons loses energy ⚡. Also according to static charge theory Ionized gases should raidate energy. Hence in my. Opinion no Flouscence material required
    So sir please would you tell me What is right answer was it visible or invisible. Please make a detailed video on this Topic With New terms As you can.
