I love how Stan and his band could sing A Capella in such a perfect pitch. Stan wove such beautiful sea stories set to music. A truly gifted performer. and it was such a tragic loss that he was taken from us so young.
I’ve been listening to Stan Rogers for years, and I love when I randomly encounter another great song I somehow never heard like this. It’s wonderful - I’m so happy Stan Rogers existed.
As mentioned, I first heard this particular sea shanty on Assassin's Creed IV, which introduced me to a whole range of sea shanties. Learning about Stan Rogers after a documentary about the Northwest Passage and seeing he did this was a great feeling.
I acc came across this song when making a sea shanties playlist, and as ive always been a huge Assassins Creed fan, i figured the pirate one must have had sea shanties. Turns out, they were a fundamental part of the game, and they have like 2 full playlists. I came across Leave Her Johnny by Sean Dagher, and then eventually the Stan Rogers version came on, and I had already loved Stan Rogers because i bought a CD in Nova Scotia because he captivated me. so yeah long unnecessary story but i like it :)
Haha, sometimes it's nice... it helps me realize this man was "a bloody workhorse" and his music reached all the bars and brothels across this country.
It's in my will that this is played at my funeral....

One I haven't heard before. I love that voice.
Wow this is so much better than any other cover I've heard.

Stark: "Had enough?"
Steve Rogers: "I can watch this all day!"
There must always be a Stark in Winterfell, and a Rogers on a Halifax pier.
Lord thundering Jaysus , who would thumb this down . Ye's must be deaf , what ?
rest in peace
i love the women's voice
Heard this on Pandora. It is most excellent.
Me too, and I agree.
Ooooh I know this song
Johnny to his more-experienced crewmate: "What brand of soap works best with saltwater?"
Crewmate to Johnny:
Johnny to the captain: "What's the type of togglable switch characterized by a long handle?"
The Captain:
Capt. Kenway sent me.
WordsmithVG somebody does not get out of there moms basement

+WordsmithVG I think he's talking about you.
Stan Rogers sent me hoss
I'm just saying what I'm seeing.
