I wasn't into them in 2012 like I am now. It is fun to look back in them in a different era and compare to them to now. LOVE the new album and thanks for sharing this so so long ago
Hung out with the band for over an hour when they opened for Billy Talent. They didn't even tell me they were in a band, they just wanted to be regular dudes for a bit. Love them now!
There is not much I wouldn't do to sit down with this guy and have a conversation with him or rock out a few chords together. Its a relief that there's still this type of artist out there.. Real artists rather.
What I truly adore about Brian is that you can feel the emotions behind his words, especially during acoustic performances, such as these. Handwritten is definitely my album of the year so far. It's perfect.
For me hes the best songwriter of his generation but thats coz his songs relate to me. Just my opinion, and seen as im 20 hes counts as one of the best song writers iv heard, is voice blows me away too
That's my favourite part of the video. I mean,I've always wondered how is to be a famous person and he just answered me! I've always been wondering that and know I know it :) Brian is really amazing, have no words to describe it!
He could sing, or more aptly, perform. The unplugged set is pure brilliance. In my opinion though, Fallon and Ragan our the current great American treasures of songwriters and performers.
i feel like fame turns what you love into a nightmare, going from just being a reg dude in a d.i.y. rock band living it up and your first taste of success to having random people everywhere wanting to pick your brain would get awkward, putting a record out for a major label is like a campaign of stress, labels burn people 24/7, after work i want to sitdown for a hour and come back to earth, its obvious here he has better things to do, imagine playing the same song 7 times a day it gets old.
Cobain changed music, changed pop culture (even before he was dead) come talk to me when BF does the same. And this is coming from a HUGE TGA and Horrible Crowes fan.
while I can respect your response, I have to disagree. the music press did not write his songs, dress him or sing for him, party for him, take drugs for him. not saying Kurt invented the word grunge, he hated that, but he changed the music scene. not that Brian Fallon is not great. I am a huge huge fa
that's not true. Saying Brian Fallon is to good to be even compared to Cobain is crazy. Don't get me wrong though Gaslight is one of my favorite bands.
he was a brilliant songwriter, but lacked talent on the guitar, lacked the ability to actually sing (he just yelled), and he was a self loathing junkie. I do agree that he revolutionized music, he paved the way for alternative/pop punk to take over.
listening to his answers makes me think shitt, this dude does not want to be here so he is giving a smug answer to just about everyone, a few times he warms up to a question..........i know the feeling, its small talk with a computer.
Both are incredible musicians and should "NEVER, EVER be used in comparisons". "How dare you". You and the other 18 fanboy posers shouldn't be listening to Brian as you clearly do not understand music...
Maybe he's just tired of being compared with the Boss, even if he still appreciate him much... that's my opinion. Brian's got to have his own career, not to follow Bruce's one.
You dont need to be the greatest guitar player or singer to be awesome. Look at Green Day or Sex Pistols, would Tom Petty have won American Idol? Brian is Amazing.
I kind of agree here. Cobain had new and interesting ideas that helped change alternative music for the better. But he couldn't play guitar very well and wasn't much of a singer.
buy a harley shirt.......johnny cup cakes is the next ed hardy in the boston area, every hipster wore them for a few months then they all stopped wearing them, then it trickled down to everyone else that thought it would be cool......idk i just hate brands that charge $30 bucks for a shitty t shirt, id like to be making that money but yea fubu, afflictions, ed hardy, johnny cupcakes, lrg, then theres me with blank shirts maybe a band shirt here and there :) im sure brian got paid to wear that
I (Kevin) don't believe in fate but... but for some reason Mac's question always stuck in my head and made me laugh. A few months later I saw a guy with a project called Dogs On Main St performing at an open mic in NYC. We talked and then I learned that he was THE MAC. Haha. Not a huge deal but I thought it was cool. We're best buds now and our two bands tour and play shows together. True Story.
This interview is actually terrible. I am the biggest Gaslight Anthem fan ever and I cried endlessly while I was listening to Handwritten for the first time when it came out (on this date). I have all of their songs and their demos so no one bash me for saying this. This is Brian's moody side and a little bit of his pretentious side. When I watched this live I found it so off putting, he has given much better interviews than this, I can't stand his answers.
Also, the way he talks about the radio makes me sad. All you hear on there now is complete shit. I can't listen to the radio for more than 5 minutes before I have to turn it off. Not like it used to be.
If you want to talk specifics, then Brian is a pretty sloppy guitar player and doesn't really do that well on the vocal side when playing acoustic songs.
I wasn't into them in 2012 like I am now. It is fun to look back in them in a different era and compare to them to now. LOVE the new album and thanks for sharing this so so long ago
I'm 45 & discovering new music all the time. Being in your 20's just means you have double the amount of great music you've yet to find :)
that was one of the most honest interviews I have ever seen....you can see why the music is beautiful
Hung out with the band for over an hour when they opened for Billy Talent. They didn't even tell me they were in a band, they just wanted to be regular dudes for a bit. Love them now!
+andrew valle That's just so cool! I never knew they opened for BT. When/where was that? :)
+xAnNixBillyTalentFAN in London ON. Great show. Rise Against opened as well.
I love how speaks so honestly, it means a lot to me
I had seriously given up on today's music... until I discovered this man. It is nice to know real artist still exist.
Stumbled upon this by accident. 1st time I've ever heard of him & like what I hear.
There is not much I wouldn't do to sit down with this guy and have a conversation with him or rock out a few chords together. Its a relief that there's still this type of artist out there.. Real artists rather.
he just changes the song so much, so good, this guy and his band, have given the world hope that real music still exists,
It is - from the first song to the last. Emotional and perfect. You can feel the passion and the honesty and love in his words. And voice.
I just started watching this and it took about a minute to start crying. This version of 45 is beautiful!
This man is just glorious!!!
Amazing humility! He talks about having a regular what-you-and-me-have job. Go brian!!!
Here to keep this going cos it Deserves it !
What I truly adore about Brian is that you can feel the emotions behind his words, especially during acoustic performances, such as these. Handwritten is definitely my album of the year so far. It's perfect.
I didn't expect him to dedicate a song to me. It honestly felt amazing hearing a song from one of my biggest musical influences.
Wise man. Humble, we need more men like this.
great video couldn't watch it that night.i woudn't get a picture all night
Who would of thought Brian would be doing live stream from his house because of COVID. His home shows got me through alot of bad times.
It's getting me through teaching during a pandemic. I'm so glad I found his music. It gives me hope.
For me hes the best songwriter of his generation but thats coz his songs relate to me. Just my opinion, and seen as im 20 hes counts as one of the best song writers iv heard, is voice blows me away too
i love this team sorch when i was eighr year old i hope the fashion times is forever
That's my favourite part of the video. I mean,I've always wondered how is to be a famous person and he just answered me! I've always been wondering that and know I know it :) Brian is really amazing, have no words to describe it!
he is absolutely amazing
thanks for posting this
I love this man.
TGA best band ever!!!
His voice. Oh my.
Not just an amazing musician: his advices are something wise!
remember watching this live, songs for teenagers is a perfect end to it
He could sing, or more aptly, perform. The unplugged set is pure brilliance. In my opinion though, Fallon and Ragan our the current great American treasures of songwriters and performers.
Wow, just downloaded it, that's great. Thanks for the tip
Anyone could give me a song list?
So good, glad I can call him a fellow nj native.
legendary
Thanks!
this is just way too fucking good. Brian's a serious class act.
"Repeating albums is cheating your audience." What a great line
getting high to his version of "Songs for Teenagers" is possibly one of the most peaceful experiences i've ever had.
Love the T-shirt. Anybody know what make/brand it is?
Brian Fallon.
Russ Massey.
So Eddie Vedder is a huge influence. Makes sense why I like him so much. Both are very true and honest to their music.
so fuckin true. living legend...
Anyone know how I can get an audio copy of this version of Blue Jeans? Can only find out how to rip the whole video, but just want that song
I LOVE YOU MAN!
Does anyone know what his neck tattoos say?
Mr.Fallon + Mrs. Fallon= Brian Fallon
but did he actually answer what is his favourite song?? im not a native english speaker and didnt get it properly :)
Brendan Obrien = amazing producer + musician
he looks so tired, but hes still a beautiful man
Yes download a free track editor and use a you-tube converter to convert the song to mp3. Then edit the track to your liking. Simple as that.
Why not? The new album even has a Nirvana cover on it...
How is call the last song?
i feel like fame turns what you love into a nightmare, going from just being a reg dude in a d.i.y. rock band living it up and your first taste of success to having random people everywhere wanting to pick your brain would get awkward, putting a record out for a major label is like a campaign of stress, labels burn people 24/7, after work i want to sitdown for a hour and come back to earth, its obvious here he has better things to do, imagine playing the same song 7 times a day it gets old.
Cobain changed music, changed pop culture (even before he was dead) come talk to me when BF does the same.
And this is coming from a HUGE TGA and Horrible Crowes fan.
Even the Ghost were jamming to The Gaslight Anthem
Kurt Cobain + Bruce Springsteen + Bob Dylan + (???) = Brian Fallon
Last night I dreamed I met him
You do know they covered a Nirvana song on the latest disc...right?
Kurt Cobain was an awesome singer. Plus, Brian loves him so why would it be a bad comparison?
Well, they covered Sliver on handwritten so... he may dare :)
the most coolest people and he doesn't mention Bruce Springsteen. Something happened between them two? Maybe he was disappointed by Bruce?
It´s allright by Bob Dylan
while I can respect your response, I have to disagree. the music press did not write his songs, dress him or sing for him, party for him, take drugs for him. not saying Kurt invented the word grunge, he hated that, but he changed the music scene. not that Brian Fallon is not great. I would empty my wallet to go to the "Dont Be A Jerk Fest"
A castle in the U.S is just an old house :P
Don't Think Twice, It's Alright by Bob Dylan
he was a brilliant songwriter, but lacked talent on the guitar, lacked the ability to actually sing (he just yelled), and he was a self loathing junkie. I do agree that he revolutionized music, he paved the way for alternative/pop punk to take over.
how can any1 hit the dislike button on this
The name of the game should be "appreciation" and not "comparison"
Nah, he's just kidding in the answer for that first questions. He writes all his song about me, clearly.
43:06 -ish they left the sound of the computer on and the 'you've got a message sound' comes. kinda amateurish..
listening to his answers makes me think shitt, this dude does not want to be here so he is giving a smug answer to just about everyone, a few times he warms up to a question..........i know the feeling, its small talk with a computer.
joyce manor!
I wish he would sing "drugs" instead of "love" though.
seems like a really nice guy the kind u could go have a pint with and talk crap all day
@23:30, realest shit.
Sometimes Brian Fallon's face looks a little bloated (like here) ... other times it's more chiseled and handsome. Wonder why?
a bit right. ha. thats probably just his persona.
Kills it as usual....
I wish, Brian as my boyfriend
You dont need to be the greatest guitar player or singer to be awesome. Look at Green Day or Sex Pistols, would Tom Petty have won American Idol? Brian is Amazing.
Johnny Cupcakes, I believe.
frank is one lucky kid i hope he is doing well with his music
I kind of agree here. Cobain had new and interesting ideas that helped change alternative music for the better. But he couldn't play guitar very well and wasn't much of a singer.
39:46
I wish I was Frank....

Mac after Brian's answer: ".....sooo that's a no to coffee and a smoke?"
I (Kevin) don't believe in fate but... but for some reason Mac's question always stuck in my head and made me laugh. A few months later I saw a guy with a project called Dogs On Main St performing at an open mic in NYC. We talked and then I learned that he was THE MAC. Haha. He seems kinda angry.

Boooooo you!!
Kurt Cobain? Are You kidding me? :|
No talent? He pretty much single handedly revolutionized rock music and killed the 80s as far as music and alternative style is concerned.
If you want to talk specifics, then Brian is a pretty sloppy guitar player and doesn't really do that well on the vocal side when playing acoustic songs.
