  • Join me on a visit to the Gagosian’s Grosvenor Hill gallery in London to see the Friends and Relations exhibition featuring works by Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach and Michael Andrews.
    This exhibition takes inspiration from the photograph taken by John Deakin that captures the four artists at the Wheeler's restaurant in Soho in 1963. Timothy Behrens, the fifth person in the picture, is only represented in one of Freud’s portraits at this show.
    Portraiture lies at the heart of this exhibition.
    Curated by Richard Calvocoressi, this exhibition visualises the connection and differences between the artists’ practices, their influence on one another and also showcases portraits of themselves, each other, as well as their friends, family members, intimate relationships and offspring.
    17 November 2022 - 28 January 2023 at Gagosian, Grosvenor Hill, London

    Thank you for making this. Excellent show! The camera work, especilly the close ups so we can see the brushmarks and all the indications of the struggle to make the artwork. Stellar!

    I like your calm shooting hand and that you take time for details💅, you don't talk too much and meditation music is a great choice🙏, only the reflections of the glazed canvases are distracting😵‍💫(find better angles), you make my favorite RUclips gallery shows👌

      Haha oh yes these reflections! Definitely going to try to find better solutions for that ;) also hoping to find a way to reduce the flickering gallery lighting. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

    Gorgeous presentation ! I love the way different paintings are shown. Sometimes you give us a close up view where we can see actual painterly brush strokes. Thank-You so much !

    Fantastic video! Which was your favourite artwork?

    • @omni_naomi
      @omni_naomi  Год назад +1

      This is a hard one, but I'd say maybe the portrait of Francis Wyndham by Freud (8:08). This one feels especially dynamic with the various textures on the skin and the puckering effect on the seams. Did you have a favourite?

      @athenaartfoundation Год назад

      @@omni_naomi wow, yes, what a good choice. And such a different use of the paint texture compared to 'Head' which you show straight after, a fascinating contrast. Our favourite might be Freud's Interior with Plant, because of the artist's reflection in it. Freud really was such a dynamic painter!

    Great set of artists.. loosely called the London Group. Found music a distraction
