To anyone criticizing, that's definitely an older mature stag, passed his genes along. Pretty darn good shot, ethical the way I see it. Also looks like it's New Zealand, so there aren't supposed to be deer there anyway, they are technically an invasive species. People brought them there. Just like hogs in the USA. Elk, whitetail, and even moose were brought to New Zealand specifically for sport and to feed people. Speaking of, Its also for food. Sorry but not everyone eats chicken nuggets frozen.
You find one of the most magnificent specimens ever seen by humans, and all you can think of is to KILL it?? I’m a gun enthusiast, and I’m no tree-hugger… but come on!!
I agree , Hunting is a personal experience. I find it a little distasteful recording the shots and deaths of wild animals. . Cows, pigs, chickens, fish, all for education.
Most people don’t realize that the tags hunters pay for to hunt this animal goes directly to wildlife conservation. That’s how park services get funded
In some places yes, not in New Zealand (except the Fiordland wapiti ballot), this was shot on a private estate, all the money went to a private company.
Very nice stag good view as well my dad went over in 2018 and got some monsters with his friends... I wish I was there right now can’t wait to be there nice job👍🏻🦌
For all those who are ranting, this is animal is not wild and was purpose bred and managed for the sole purpose of being hunted as a trophy. Not a single one of you has the right to critize unless you are living in a cave somewhere living off wild berries and denying yourself from any benefit of modern civilization including medical treatment of any kind.
Why do I see so many people hating on this hunter yes it may be easy for the man to kill that beautiful stag with a long range rifle keep in mind he’s old and probably couldn’t pull back a bow strong enough and have the strength to hold it steady to make an ethical shot and give the animal least amount of suffering possible! There is nothing wrong with this video it was his choice and his right to hunt that animal me personally any I think red stags are to beautiful to kill how ever I hunt white tail and every animal I take we eat everything and get a healthy meat that comes at a cheaper price not only that but my best memories have been hunting with my dad. This is true for most hunter not all but most so please stop commenting about the dislike button or to stop eating animals. P.S How did you get a fresh spawn like that it took me 2000 stags before I got a great one unfair!
Dude. Humans have been hunting since the beginning of time. The existence of our species will not be determine by a "beautiful" animal that is objectively inferior. Anti-hunting people are so self loathing.
Being a hunter for decades, for me there is absolutely no doubt, this is not a wild animal, but a product of careful breeding, special diets and loads of artificial hormones. Alltogether it results in monstrous antlers, the animal can‘t barely carry around. In their first years in the farm (or clinic ?) the antlers are cut off to allow an almost normal life for the stag. In the last year they are left and the animal is set free for a few days or weeks, to make a client the feeling of a hunt in free nature. New Zealand hunting farms are famous for this.
Hunting can do many things for example keep them at a steady population and they don’t just go out there and kill as many as they want they have a limit to how many you can kill every season
If they used the meat, or utilized the Stag's fir coat somehow, then I would be alright with this. But if they just framed the antlers and threw out the rest of the carcass that just ain't right.
All of you are fucking idiots, no meat is wasted for a mount, the mount is basically just the hide, what kind of people think that meat is involved in taxidermy clearly y’all don’t know shit
While I'm not particularly into hunting, especially trophy hunting, as a Wildlife Biology major I'm alright with this. This stag was older, he had been through many ruts, notice the scars inhibiting the growth of his fuzz on his rump, and also his, ya know, millions of tines. This stag has been able to pass on his bloodline to many does, he has bred many times I'm sure. Had this been a young stag who had maybe one or two breeding seasons I'd be more upset, as right now, Bighorn sheep are having a problem in America where hunters are taking the males with the largest horns with disregard to their age and how many seasons they've been through, therefore causing the males with smaller heads to win the rut and mate and therefore causing more billies to be small headed like their fathers prior. It also took a single shot to take him down, the stag didn't suffer, so another plus from me.
RHINO 54 Lol putting words in my mouth. Females generally arent killed because they raise the young and ensure populations can grow or stabalize. You are more than welcome to kill as many white tailed does as you can because the population is so massive over the entirety of the states. Same with your squirrels, quail, and water fowl, etc upon the seasons arrival and as long as you're meeting within the bag limit, I really don't care. My statement had no correlation with killing something based on its sex but its cool that you took it that way I guess, way to assume that I'm some crazy feminist. 😂
Its New Zealand. The Red Stag are not farmed raised they are a free range invasive species. Also no scientists think they will get smaller for every giant taken many more survive. Also a stag of this age has already sired dozens of fawns.
Y’all are so childish dawg. The old man went on a hunting trip and got a kill of a century and y’all are telling him to kill himself over it, pathetic that’s more meat and a mount of a lifetime he got out of it before he died like cmon that deer would’ve died anyway it’s not like he fucking nuked the place to kill it, y’all need to grow up. Let people enjoy what they like doing in life.
People need to stop saying that them killing this animal is so terrible. First of all, they eat the meat from the animal, so it’s not like it just goes to waste. Second of all, hunting is more ethical than raising cattle in a factory because the conditions for animals there are just terrible. And third of all, they can keep the antlers and even all of the skin to make a full body mount if they want to because it doesn’t affect the meat at all, they can still eat the meat. So please educate yourselves on hunting before you comment stupid and stuff like that and if you don’t like them hunting the animals why tf are you watching?
