Connections I managed to achieve a perfect solve in forward rainbow order. I actually saw the words without apostrophes because that's what WERE and CANT made me think of , and then I saw two others. I was afraid it was a red herring so I didn't lock it in right away. After clearing yellow and green I was confident then it could be a category. As I type, Connections Bot still gives this a 3/5, with a 69% solve rate with 19% getting the perfect solve. My guess pattern was 1 in 178. Mini Crossword, I agree it was tough, what allowed me to break through was DREAM TEAM. I then remembered it was Clara Barton who founded the Red Cross. I didn't know 1 down as Mind Meld and I thought I knew Star Trek well enough at that level. I was able to work around it. I think I got it done in around 4 minutes.
Exciting Connections! It was a cliffhanger for me too. I have read some philosophy of Immanuel Kant and it made sense but it's spelled with a different letter. I don't know all the details of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory but I knew that EGO and ID were definitely its major components. The only issue was, which one of BEING, CHARACTER or SELF to remove. On my last-chance guess, I determined it was all a red herring and I should remove ID. But it took me forever. Stupid anecdote: I can explain BA and KA of the ancient Egyptian mythology much better than Freud's EGO and ID. Scary Mini. Maybe the trees are conscious but if they are not ELKS, perhaps they could be ENTS? 🙂 2:02 for me. Nice quick Strands saving for the adorable interruptions. I've never built the scaffold before in hangman. You draw it before the game starts and get 6 failed letters before the person is drawn and you lose. Your way sounds far too easy, how could anyone lose?
I made the same first mistake but then I removed ID because ego is closer to the other words than ID is and I figured only one of the Freud terms would be part of the category if they both weren’t
Connections was rough, got the Mini in 38 seconds so seeing you struggle so much was a bit of a surprise, Strands was relatively easy getting the theme pretty easily and getting the Spanagram pretty quickly after locking in some words then having a mini struggle figuring INSTANT out
FYI, the NYT Tech team has gone on strike today after months of notice and attempting to negotiate. The union has asked the public to not engage with the NYT Games (or cooking app). "The union said Tech Guild workers’ main concerns that remain unresolved are: remote/hybrid work protections; “just cause” job protections, which “the newsroom union has had for decades”; limits on subcontracting; and pay equity/fair pay. "
Instead of going on strike, maybe they ought to fix the UI issues. For example, in the Mini, Alt-Left does not work: you need to hit F11 to exit full-screen mode and then use the browser buttons to return to your index page. And there is no dark mode on half of the games and most of the landing pages.
@@finlandtaipan4454 Maybe by striking they will be able to secure more resources needed for faster and better improvements. Also, I believe it's the entire 600-person tech team, in charge of all digital backend systems. Cooking and games are a good ask of people because they are user-facing but not a critical source of information for most people.
