man i had ordered all the stuff to do it for like $60 but then resumed the vid and he said "now this is why you dont do this" and refunded my orders, not trynna have my chinstrap come off mid game lmfao

You could also use a lighter loctite on the visor clip screw. Purple loctite would stop the screw from backing out
If I put lighter loctite on it won’t it be hard to get the camlock off if for some reason your league doesn’t allow this?

i’ve done this on my f7 but i used actual screws an a lock washer and it hasn’t loosened in like 6 months

@@mikeyenriquez1262if you take the screw that comes with the strap to a hardware store you can find the matching screw size and thread size. Then just buy a longer version.
Screw size is 8/32 x ½ long
loctite on the thumb screw and take a thin piece of rubber and sandwich it between the two, might limit the movement or just add more friction.

i just used a washer on the thumb screw and the pivoting isn’t that big of a deal once you get use to it
A little clear fingernail polish on the threads should sufficiently stop the knob from backing out.

I get what he’s saying about the cam lock system pivoting due to the f7 not having the same design as the speed flex but a normal buckled chin strap will pivot regardless because of the design so I don’t see that entirely being an issue. And as for the screws coming lose I’ve had the normal buckles on any helmet come loose and separate from the t nut on the back
Good points! The cam-loc function on the speedflex really just keeps that chinstrap super secure, compared to installing it on a F7 helmet.
you can use a different screw instead of visor clips
i have been interested in building a cam lock type system that is compatible will all helmets. if this is something that green grid iron would be interested in building aswell please reach out! great work love the videos

0:06 could you use a small lock washer inside? Also, the clear fingernail polish idea sounds like it would work as well. I assume this would work on most older helmets if you were putting one together for display only?
The lock washer still wouldn’t hold up during game use. Constant on and off would make the cam-loc housing to move BUT for display use, it’s totally acceptable

Is there a way to punch holes in the end of a sportstar chin strap to insert those rubber retainers to use on the Cam-Loc? I want to switch out my Riddell harcup for a XD Victory TRex but I do not want to use the buckle system 🤔

Hey I’ve been wondering, can I replace the quick release twist clips on top of the F7 to just a quarter turn clips instead? I like the looks of the quarter turns and it helps fit visors better I feel

Have you tried using a tiny rubber washer between the cam lock and the helmet to help prevent movement? not sure if that would work, but wondering if you tried it

If you use the same screw that tightens the face mask sides down it will not spin as much I’ve had mine like this for 3 years of semi pro

Yes! They're pretty tricky, but you just have to pinch them and fold them in half, and they should pop back in!

Cam-loc chinstraps are made to be compatible with the Riddell SpeedFlex and Axioms only. You can try to make it work like we did on an F7 in this video, but we do not recommend it.
Can you put one on the riddel victor I or will it do the same an move around?
It can be done, but yes, there will be some give, as the Victor I doesn't have the housing for the Cam-Loc system built in.

Buckle screws work great as an alternate to visor clips!

The cam-locs will only work well on the SpeedFlex, since they are not meant for Speed helmets.
Me and my friend did this and our cam lock’s didn’t move we used the border screws instead of visor clips

The cam-locs won't fit on the Vicis Zero2, since it is technically only compatible with the SpeedFlex.

Why not just cut into the F7 shell to recreate the square hole? Seems like that’d solve the problem, right?
It would, but we could never tell people cut their helmet. Also, it would void the warranty.

Yes! It's not going to be as sturdy as it would be on the SpeedFlex, but it can be done!

Probably, yeah. Make sure the screw doesn’t stick out into the interior of the helmet

Would this work on the regular speed helmet?
Cam-Locs are built for SpeedFlex helmets, the Speed helmets don't have the housing to fit a cam-loc so it probably won't work

Might sound weird but wouldn’t hot glue or super glue possibly fix that
Definitely not hot glue, but I think super-glue would make it more stable. Just not super reliable

Can you use this on a speed?
You could try, however the cam-locs only fit well on the speedflex.

In theory you could, but it's not a great choice for durability or longevity. I'd recommend any of the other options shown in the video.
