Tariffs are paid at the point of entry to the US, by the importer. The supplier (China) pays nowt. That cost is passed on to the consumer by the importer. It is a Sales Tax on consumers. Tariffs are nothing more than a huge tax on American companies. Relocating manufacturing jobs to the US will take years, assuming it’s even possible. In the meantime, Trump’s tariffs will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices. That cost is passed on to the consumer by the importer. It is a Sales Tax on consumers.

Because the EU and China were driving up the value of the dollar, everything we were importing became cheaper. Not just imports from Europe and China, but actually imports from everywhere. All imports were entering the U.S. at substantially lower prices.
This meant when we imported products, we were also importing deflation.
This price result is exactly the opposite of what the economic experts and Wall Street pundits predicted back in 2017 and 2018 when they were pushing the rapid price increase narrative.

Not true, major tariffs will force companies to come to the USA and create jobs and boost employment and the economy and products will become better quality again and yes slightly more expensive but I’d rather pay twice as much for something that last 10 times as long as. In the end the USA will be better off and the tariffs that companies pay will boost the money that the government brings in so our taxes can go down or be eliminated all together if done right.

Tariffs are nothing more than a huge tax on American companies. Relocating manufacturing jobs to the US will take years, assuming it’s even possible. In the meantime, Trump’s tariffs will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices. And wages to be paid for American manufacturing jobs will be significantly higher than those in China, Mexico, etc. That’s a good thing, but are Americans prepared to pay the cost of Trump’s vision for the US economy?
