@@RalphMayhewPhotography I am wondering if using a laptop to receive as above, if the laptop can bluetooth output to a speaker at the same time like a PA system? Or can the receiver be connected into a speaker directly?
Thanks Mate for showing me that this mic can be used with computer. (This is the thing I badly need to see and I finally found in your video) and I love your presentation Hello from Your Far Neighbour Indonesia
Hi, I just bought it and I used your code to do it. Thank you for the video, thank you for the discount code. Good luck with the channel. Kind regards from Belgium
Do you happen to know the answer to these? 1) Do these record in separate channels when recording video on a phone or action camera? 2) Does it also have the option to use your internal phone or action camera mic while using the Tx? 3) Can you store internally into the Tx as it is transmitting? I'm mainly interested in using these for recording the kids skiing on my Insta360 X2. I did this last season with the Movo wireless mics, they did okay but it did start cutting out if the kids got too far away from me, probably 30-50m behind me.
I don’t have the unit anymore as I have it to someone in need. But from what I recall: 1) nope 2) nope 3) yep. I am getting another one soon so I can check if you like. 🤷🏼♂️
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Thanks! #3 is the most important so I'll probably buy it to try it out. Other tests I've seen put the Ulanzi at a greater range than the Neewer, but with worse noise cancellation.
Hey Ralph, a great review of the Ulanzi. Very well done and a BIG thumbs 👍up. I don't suppose you would know if the TX (microphone transmitter) will work directly with the Insta360 Ace Pro or X4 with out using the RX unit? If not no worries. Again cheers and thanks for taking the time to make the video. Much appreciated.
Hi Ralph, thanks for the video. Question, I have read that transfer speeds from mic to PC via USB are awful, any feedback about it ? Thanks. The main reason I have ordered them is to have a backup file on the mic, as last video I did shot, I did not plugged correctly the TRS cable, and lost all the audio.
How frustrating is a non fully plugged in trs!! I feel your pain. I’ve had a few people ask. Personally I’ve not noticed it but when I get home (I’m away for a couple of weeks) I’ll do a test. Sorry I can’t help you out sooner.
Thank you for the great review! Quick question. I saw you have to use the receiver to turn on safety mode. So when in safety mode, is the safety track recorded onto the storage of the transmitter? Put another way, can you use a safety track using just the transmitter? Or do you need to use the receiver along with the transmitter?
Yeah, my question was maybe a bit confusing. Sorry! I guess I'm wondering if just one transmitter records both the normal track and safety track onto the transmitter's storage. Or do you need to use both transmitters for the safety track feature (one recording at normal level and the second recording the safety track)?
Thanks for this vid, I actually have these already and I don't love them but mainly because I've had multiple corrupt files so far! When recording directly into the mics themselves, I tried to get a refund but the customer service was atrocious 😅 I have to use them again this week so fingers crossed they work properly this time around lol
Ah mate. That sux!! I’ve not heard of that before. Maybe it’s your model. When I encounter this with a mic set up I try to record through the TX as well as on the RX. so I have a back up. Even if it’s just on the phone 🤷🏼♂️
is the reciever required to be connected to the camera in order for it to record? I just left an event, I even had safety mode turned on. The RX doesnit connect to any of my PC's, it only shows charging mode and is not recognized as a data device. My two transmitters have recording, but of none of me speaking.
The RX role is to be plugged in to receive audio and give it to a recording device. The TX (I think) can record into themselves. If you press the record option.
What issue specifically are you having? If you turn the unit on (not just pull it out of the case) plug it in and find it as an external device. Open it up and drag your files onto your computer it should do the job. You can then import them from to your editing software on your computer rather than relying on the connectivity of an external device. I use this approach with my DJI audio as it’s far less reliable than the U-mic.
Great video. I haven't found any video that 1. Test the mic with a lav connected to it. 2. Test the mic in a noisy environment with lots of people talking in the background.
The reason people don’t test with labs is because it all depends on the lab quality (and other lab factors) Not only the mic. I guess I didn’t test with lots of other people in the room as I wouldn’t use it that way - thought never crossed my mind. I’ll see if I can do a short on it though 👍
Hi Ralph another great video. I am an amateur photographer and would like to make some videos. I am not sure how to add/combine audio "in post" so if I plugged the receiver into my Panasonic S5ii, would the audio be "matched/baked" on to the video? ie when I play the video it will all match up automatically ? Sorry if this sounds silly but as I said I am very much learning at the moment!! Keep up the great work, your way of explaining is very easy to understand thanks Ralph, from London UK
I didn’t have that issue with the Ulanzi. I do have that issue with my DJI set up. To solve it I separate the audio and open it in a program call wave pad. I then amplify the audio up to just before it cuts off the spikes and then imports it back in. That works well for me and wavepad is free, or at least was when I go it.
Yooo! Thanks for the discount code! I got em shipped for $90 Aussie from the link you provided! Took about 3 weeks but if initial impressions are to go by, they are worth the wait. Just a quick question, would mono, stereo or safe be the recommended settings? And should I lower the volume on the mic on my Sony ZV-E10 when I attach it? Cheers and more power to your channel! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
That’s epic mate 👏👏👏 stoked to hear that. Honestly I reckon it’s about experimenting. Safe mode is ok, but not 100% full proof. You gotta experiment with your set up. I’d encourage half an hour of experimenting and a pain free test of your experience :)
nice review, lots of features for the price, sooo close to buying but to be honest, the internal mic just doesn't sound very good. of course could plug another one in, but I also do sound recordings (more than just speech) I'm going to need a better mic and higher audio depth than 16bit. Besides this, sometimes when the audio file splits, it remains silent for 1-2 seconds. A total disappointment with this Ulanzi product.
