You just need to copy the client file to another computer, open FTview directory specify location then point that to the computer hosting the HMI application then reboot & run the client. To copy the client, navigate to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\RSView Enterprise\SE\Client Copy the client...Copy/paste not cut/paste Repeat...Copy/paste Then place the copy to the new computer or if the computer is on a network them pass the copy of the HMI client to the other computer using the network path. To specify the local directory on the other computer use: Specify FactoryTalk Directory Location C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Rockwell Software\FactoryTalk Tools\Specify FactoryTalk Directory Location Make sure the Computer hosting directory server is set to the HMI server. Then reboot & run the client
So basically they have a slight advantage over using descriptions because they appear with the tags in the instructions with more than 1 tag ..? I find they make for a nightmare when cross referencing on occasions
Cross-reference the alias tag. Simple & easy, use a notepad on Windows for important tags or aliases. An easy trick to use while searching. Also, alias tags are used to make programming easier.
