Children's Author Michael Rosen Reveals His Moving COVID Hospital Diary

The barn team is excited to receive a special guest, children's author and poet Michael Rosen, who is indebted to the NHS for saving his life. Michael hopes that bookbinder Chris Shaw can repair the daily diary kept by nurses and carers during his 40-day induced coma at the start of the pandemic. This modern spiral notebook is his only record of that time, when he was isolated from his family. The diary was used by hospital staff to keep Michael informed of daily events. When he was finally discharged from the critical care unit, Michael received the patient diary as a gift. Along with the notebook, Michael has brought a bundle of letters, drawings, and notes from his young fans, which Chris is now working on to create a more fitting tribute. Even the usually eloquent Michael is momentarily speechless at the thoughtful artwork.

How kind of the nurses to take the time to do this so that you have some sense of what was happening during the days you "lost."
I would have thought that he would have took the Diary and cards and turned them into a leather bound book!
It may have been his goal to preserve the actual book the nurses handled.
