Sarah's family was related to the Fountain family. He was the pharmacist at the store by the Pearl River. I grew up there. Best place in the world. My parents, grandparents are buried there. Looking forward to joining them.
According to my CD this song was written by Sarah Peasall. A very fine song it is too. However she never lived there herself, maybe she knew someone who did? A once prosperous town it went into decline and in 1961 it was sold by the state to NASA and then it was destroyed apart from the cemetery. You can read about it here; freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gtusa/usa/ms.htm
