As a writer who actually tries to work hard on telling stories, it really bugs me when audiences are willing to forgive shitty writing just because it involves LGBT+ characters. If they really want better positive representation of such characters, shouldn't it be in stories which are actually good?
Thank you! I’m writing a story which involves several LGBT characters, and their sexualities are central to the story, but I’m almost tempted to give up on it because I worry people will just ignore any flaw it may have because of “diversity”, and I won’t improve as a result.

Though I have found certain things that people were not generally fans off, and I enjoyed it. My example turned into a "review" of a franchise the spanned the PSone and PS2 era. One example that sticks out is the PS2(yes that long ago) Sequel to the PS1 Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. . .LoK: Blood Omen 2 (I loved the Soul Reaver games, even SR 2 even though combat between temple puzzles(Which while not as fun as the first one, I enjoyed.) was essentially pointless, the series had an amazing story, and the voice actors brought the characters alive. The Series really needs a Reboot, well not so much a reboot(There was almost a reboot, but it was canceled), maybe a remaster(with some changes to some of the gameplay, but the story intact.) Anyway Blood omen 2. Shitty Camera, so-so story(compared to all the other LoK games.), it was fun to play, even the gameplay mechanics definitely needed polished. I think it was shoe horned in to the series to introduce certain things into the game for Defiance, and to give some other characters some more screen time. . .Trying not to spoil anything in case anyone wants to delve into the PS classics. Defiance is by far the best of the franchise, and the series came along way from it's gameplay in blood omen(1) with it's a birds eye view Baulders Gate-ish type of game. . .Wait why am I writing a review of the LoK franchise. . .
This isn't progressive, it's pandering. And "progressiveness" is the only reason anyone could like it, because the actual writing, the stuff that matters, is so awful. 2/10.
Especially if you don't understand that writing has forms which require both to used in specific ways and not simply inserted anywhere you want because it won't work.
If LGBT people are mainly only receiving praise for being LGBT rather than their work, what's the point? I can't help but feel it hurts people on both sides somehow.
sharon MD yeah I agree!!! It just makes everyone think all LGBT people are forceful violent sjws who demand attention. Like come on the majority of us just want to live our lives, these people are giving us a bad name
I see it as a double edge sword. These poor writers will wear out the emotional and financial aspect, and eventually sink into the unknown. Meanwhile fresh, well thought out, and multidimensional characters will be made. Their stories will be epic, and the thirst for said stories will be a welcome relief.
It does. It makes our work have a limit on quality. For example, as a gay man I appreciate Steven universe for its depiction of lgbt things. But it’s hard to bring up how it has issues with racial portrayals without getting some people defensive. These shows are important but they aren’t all we are. In fact, I’d hazard to say SU or High Guardian Spice are a drop in the sea that is my personality. I want lgbt content. But I want solid lgbt content.
If all I have to do is flaunt something as personal as my sexuality and my sexual identity then I should make a movie. Seriously, this is getting out of hand. I don't want people to give me praise for something as personal as that. I want to improve, both as a writer and a person. Let me improve and let my work speak for itself.
David Lopez You wouldn’t like America Chavez. The character is so unlikeable and the story barely follows it’s original plot. It keeps bringing up the fact that her parents are gay (yeah, cool, they’re gay. What does that have to do with the story? Why bring it up twice?)
David Lopez as a gay man, I think the way to make lgbt characters that “don’t shove it down someone’s throat” is have it feed into things. Who they love, their home life, and give it the same flair or mundane quality how you would portray heterosexual characters and their relationships. But making characters into “I’m gay that’s me” only portrays the very, very annoying and stupid slice of the lgbt population that is so uninteresting that their sexuality is all they have going for them. It’s a real personality. But I think most LGBT people would agree that those kinds of people, who think being gay makes you a 10/10 individual, are idiots.
Imo, it's okay if you wanna mention your character(s) as a gay, lesbian, etc. As long as it plays a crucial role in a story. If it doesn't then just don't mention it because it's pretty much unnecessary.
If the story was kept the same accept without them being trans, bi, or in any relationship other than friends, then no one would care. Literally the only reason anyone gives notice is the glbt stuff and that's it.
"...Scott Pilgrim art-style..." Dude, Scott Pilgrim is like Salvador Dali compared to Kim & Kim's art-style; At least Scott Pilgrim is appealing to look at.
Electric KoatHanger yeah as a Scott Pilgrim fan got a little offended when he said that lol SP has a really appealing, simplistic but kyoot thing going on. Whereas this looks like an LGBT page on Tumblr threw up
Yup. Brian has a style, a style that I can EASILY recognize and call out his name when I see it. There is nothing I can connect to the style in his book other than 'This is something I'd see being praised on Tumblr'
@@tingpekang1087 if I remember the story correctly, the emperors new clothes tells a story of a naive emperor who wanted some new clothes to show in to his people. One day a mysterious man came to the palace claiming that he can make the finest and most marvelous clothes the emperor will ever set eyes upon, but he requires precious gems and fabrics to do so. The emperor believes him, provides with materials and a room to work in, and orders guards to make sure no one enters the room. When the man finally reveales his work to the emperor and his advisors, they only see an empty clothes hanger, yet they still act as if they see the robes because the man claims that these clothes are so fine that only the wise people can see them, and neither the emperor nor his advisers want to be seen as fools. (Correct me if I'm wrong) SJW stories are similar in a way that you're called an anti-LDBTQ+ if you think that the story is awful (at least that's how I see it).
Here's an idea. Make an LGBT character and NOT make their sexuality the only thing about the character. Same thing goes with any race, don't make the character's race the only thing about them. It's not that hard.
Also, it is offensive to most of them because they didn't give the character any other trait and is as bad as making overly edgy stereotypical character. But they are call traitors for expressing that, and claim they're against when they just a character with more traits and personality.
It's so annoying when people of the lgbt community devote their entire existence to highlighting the divide between them and historical "sexual normality". She made an entire story just to sell gender and sexuality like a product with clearly no experience of writing. There are far too many people like it and it's just putting a bad name on everyone quite frankly
I can kind of see why they didn't give any explanation to Kim's transition. Obviously it's the writer creating a fantasy world where she'd like to live in, where Trans people are viewed as completely normal. Just like a hair color, or skin color, or fashion choice. The story refuses to go into details, since there's no explanation needed to explain why someone has blonde hair, or brown skin, or prefers to wear jeans. This would work actually, since it's a made-up world, and the writer can create whatever rules her world abides by. It doesn't, however, warrant any praise for the comic as a great piece of work with Trans characters, since these characters bear no real resemblance to their real-world counterparts. But of course, they'll praise away anyways.
Here's a concept, that I made up on the spot, for having transgenders in a story. On an alien world, unrecognisable to our own, there was a hive mind of sentient insects that populated the planet's surface. The insects have three positions of gender: Males, Females, or Drones. The latter being genderless. All Insects begin as Drones. Should a perticular drone prove its worth, they are given permission to mate and undergo a metamorphosis for becoming either a male or female; however this offer can not be refused.
ianmaluk1 Cool idea, but that's been done before, except it was with just humans in some type of weird dystopian setting. Can't remember the book though, that was years ago.

I'm lgbtq & there is no good representation of characters in any form of media. We actually talked about this a few minutes ago, me & my bud lol. Even if made by "lgbtq"( I don't believe they're a trans women. They don't care for themselves. They have the money to look better. They never really go into the deep meanings and feelings of transitioning , even in real life. Every single thing screams of wanting attention & not being a real trans.Fake lgbtqs make it hard on real ones, they are the ones who seem to always want attention . People don't know im gay until they ask me. Since, you know my sex life. I ain't going to scream "I FUCKED THE SAME GENDER LAST NIGHT" to the world. Like. Ew. Gross. Media should portray them as normal people, not having issues, or screaming their gay all the time. Just " they happen to as well be gay." -response "oh that's neet."
But like, why did the character(s) have to be labeled as trans aside from representation/brownie points. Kim & Kim are 2 girls, done. Build character from that, badda bing badda boom, reveal that character is trans. That’s how you make a character, if you throw out everything all at once, it plateaus the character and makes them boring...
Or the Emmys, or the Razzies. Goodness are there any long standing high profile awards that are actually worth a damn? Even the Nobel Peace Prize has had some incredibly questionable decisions (and I am not even talking about Obama)
GLBT.... i like that much better than the current alphabet sequence. This story just sounds cringey to me. I hate how people like Mags get work based on nothing more than Trans affirmative action. Maybe i should start taking advantage of being bi and just demand advantages in life myself. I'm also black, so maybe i get bonus points. :P
I just call it HBT instead of LGBT because Lesbian and gay mean the same thing (only difference is lesbian means gay woman), so just replace those two letters with an H for homosexual.
Well you see people are stupid someone had the balls to say "homosexual is a slur" as a bisexual I was like UM no???? Then they called me homophobic because I said "it literally means attraction to the same sex". Like shit, sorry I didn't realize i had to advertise the fact I'm not straight first.
As a Bi man with a Transgender girlfriend (lol so the guy version of these characters.), can I say I appreciate you, thank you. Don't gives us handouts for being "queer." Just give us a fair chance at it, how patronizing is it when they just hand it to you. Your biggest accomplishments given to you by an advantage. Also the selling point shouldn't be that the character is queer. Why do they make need that to repusent us. Just make them a bounty hunter or whatever who happens to be queer. Feels so underhanded and lazy when it is your selling point. Then we get crud like this to repusent us. I feel your criticisms are more than fair but well needed.
@@xenxander That doesn't mean we should act like gay and trans people don't exist. Also you are using "your type" to other me. We are literally like anyone else and watching a show with a gay lead or character should not be that deferent than one with straight people. outside of love interests. Most people these days get that. But I am guessing your problem is that they have representation at all because.... They have smaller numbers? Why should that matter? Let's face it though, that is not your problem, your problem is gay people having a presence at all in entertainment all together.
@@saar7294 Really I am the problem? Because I want more than a hollow character with more than queer as a personality to represent me? Because I am willing to call it out as cheap, gimmicky, and 1 dimensional? Because this is really doing a big favor for us? It is not.
@@devillass6025 If you're used to Junji Ito levels of artistry in your comics/graphic novels...then yes the art in this comic is fugly garbage...mediocre at best...
The art is pretty good, I feel like you just want to insult the book itself and are just grasping at straws. The artist was paid to draw it, it's not their fault if the plot was bad.
As an...artist? Well...in a way...i think the art is prettt neat...if i were to buy this..id buy it for art and reference..the colouring is kept simple..understandably because of many pages..but its still beautiful..its not unique...but its good enough...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if you're writing a gay character, then don't make them a gay character, make them a character who is gay. Unless it's a comedy, then go nuts.
It's strange they never make trans characters actually look trans. It might be a sign of the warped view the ones who aren't feminine at all have of themselves.
I was going to say, "If the story is good then who cares about the politics!" But scratch that argument. There was no story. Just jump cuts due to laziness.
So the main conflict between kim and their dad is that the dad has a habit to call kim a him... alrighty then, zuko's entire life is now irrelevant, clearly you didn't need an actually good reason to hate your father.
I actually am, and like my story is about people who fight storms that form into the huge beast. Some of the heros are gay and bisexual but that's not the main focus of the story ya know.

If Will Eisner was alive, he'd blow his stack over this hot mess. I don't mind transgender people working in comic books, but, like women, minorities and anyone who isn't a straight white male, there has to be a sense of fucking competency or the quality of the comic book suffers. Sequential illustration is a form of storytelling where words and pictures are in sync. Unlike TV & film, which are restricted by time and budget, comic books can be read a certain pace. What Visaggio did was pissed on the rules of that and he'll claim transphobia if someone points that out. I'm afraid that we got a bunch of mentally ill, bubble children in the comic book industry, and that's not helping it at all.
Forget even the politics lets just dive into Ted Turner. Was Captain Planet good? HECK NO! (so bad its good maybe). All its worst episodes are the most preachy ones. It even had TWO episodes on overpopulation! Giving awards for politics is just terrible.
I agree. The Eisner award has been tainted by whatever fool who wanted to promote this individual's story. It would be ONE thing if amid all the shameless normalization and wish-fulfillment there was a link to the real world. It could be to bring the trans issue of realizing their objectification and pivoting by false-trans people for example. And that this issue was presented in a creative manner in the plot of the story. Instead we are treated to a pressuring yet hollow, "Tell me I am normal AND invite me to your strait party at the risk of your personal agency or I will tell everyone what a BULLY you are!". Dream ON!
This frustrates me. The story has potential, the characters look great, and the world is interesting. Yet she doesn't elaborate on ANYTHING. Here I am, struggling to get an audience for my stories that I actually put EFFORT into, being physically _exhausted_ after a writing session despite still only having a few supporters for my Patreon, yet here's someone who writes a story, chickens out at the end, and gets *rewarded* for it?! All because she's a transgender writer?! Yeah, okay.
As a transgender writer herself, this actually hurts a lot because it makes me afraid to publish my work. It makes me afraid that I'll be somehow connected to these idiots and I'll get a unfair advantage and people who constructively criticize me will get silenced. SJW agendas don't just hurt the people they put down, but the ones they put on a pedistle.
When it comes to non-straight people, I use the term HBT. Homosexuals Bisexual Transexual Got about 90% covered there and anyone who disagree and say I should add more is just not worth my time.
I think the only way to stop this madness if for fans, press, awards shows to stop rewarding bad stories, and validating them with praise and encouragement. It promotes the mindset in the horrible creators that they made a great story because so many people are telling them how great they are and pandering because they have some sort of "marginalized identity," which is really just code for the panderers having the soft bigotry of low expectations. Then any legitimate criticism they do get, they just dismiss because those people are just bigots. I really don't care who you are, I don't even care what your politics are, if you make a great story I will read and enjoy it. If you make trash, and try to push your politics on everyone, that will not make a great story...and as such it should not be getting any praise.
It kind of happens. The largest proponents of how terrible videogames are... flat out do not buy games, do not buy games when they are "progressive", do not buy them when they are not progressive. The loudest people who would praise this comic? They certainly aren't the ones who will buy it. Though it isn't always "Low expectations" sometimes people expect it will get better later, that is how it was for me with the Jem and the Holograms comic (and no... it didn't get better)
So... The story ends when daddy pays the rent. And what happens next month? A new adventure begins? After all rents are usually due on a monthly basis, and if they had problems this month, they're likely to have the same problems again and again. Come to think of it, perhaps the real message was that the Kims have to grow up and get, well, a REAL JOB. One, you know, that enables them to PAY THE FRAKKING RENT. And with that renewed attitude, they would start living in the REAL WORLD.
You know when I started writing I always felt that having a decent amount of characters showing bi-sexual tendencies (or just straight up being just that) even if not prominent or really an issue, was something that'd be unappealing because too many people just wouldn't want to follow an author's saga of different stories like that. Now I feel like I'd easily get published and make tons of money if I just straight up made everyone identify as something different right from the beginning with no effort to development the "why" and just go ahead and take anyone who has a slight bisexual tendency and make them scream "I like men and woman and everything in between it's me deal with it" AND repeat that line for at least half a cast of characters. Did I just figure out the key to being a millionaire?
Lgbtq characters? That's great. Just don't shove it down our throats. Different art style? Well that is okay and we all have our own tastes... Good story? Okay... I mean... Lets just go back to the art style.
"This is almost as bad as when Caitlyn Jenner won the woman of the year award when she had only been a woman for like 30 minutes" This reads like a Family Guy skit
A good comic that could be classified as SJW is Saga. I love that series and it has LGBTQ characters, and they are likeable. I also love the fact that the author is trying to make a story that could never be truly made into a movie or tv show. Not even HBO would touch some of the shit that happens in that comic.

I dunno - I just find that LGBT sounds better than GLBT, because we get the only non-ending with -ee letter out of the way first. So it's much balanced to say LGBT or GBTL, instead of putting L in the middle. [takes of hiss linguist glasses]
Honestly, I used to be one of those hardcore SJW people, but then I started watching videos like this that discuss such social justice from another point of view. I still support transgender people and other social justice, but I'm able to see both sides of the discussion. I've had people tell me that those who oppose social justice are opposing transgender people's very existence, but I've been able to see that is not the case. Sure, some oppose social justice, but it is not as vile as many would make you believe. Never listen to only one side of an argument, as it makes you susceptible to propaganda. Always listen to people and speak your mind. We can't reach a good consensus or result by ignoring one side of an argument, but if we come together and reach a compromise, we can usually find a good middle ground.
So essentially, the creator did a horrible job ripping off Utena, managing to completely ignore the character and plot devolpment from Utena. A+ , would ignore again.
also Utena was about more than gay stuff, namely deconstructing shoujo and fairy tale tropes and showing how screwed up the characters from those stories are
If Star Trek Next Gen was created today instead of being a socially awkward engineer who worked hard to get where he was and faced the adversity of being blind in an age where such disabilities were incredibly rare, Geordi La Forge's entire character would have been "I'm Black." He wouldn't have been friends with his crew-mates, he wouldn't have had interesting hobbies and an actual personality. He would have been written by an SJW who was claiming that no show had ever before featured a black character and that would have been all you would hear every episode. And that would go for every single character. The 60-90's made great strides in fiction, from television to comics, in telling actual stories about real people who happened to have differences. The stories weren't about the differences they were about the people and the situations they were in. Today's SJW writers and artists are incapable of telling the same stories that were done better decades ago because they are only driven by their hatred of what they consider "normal."
This is what is so interesting... If you compare the OLD Star Trek to its new Movie remake you can see the sheer difference between them. The old one is progressive while the new one is "Progressive", so "progressive" that it must show off how "progressive" it is at all times. How will you know Sulu is Japanese if he doesn't use a Katana? How will you know Uhura is a strong independent woman unless she tells you she is? How will you know homosexuality exists unless we make George Takai's character gay? and yet funny it does nothing with this.
Uhura is the one that bugged me the most. She is Spock's Girlfriend, a way of giving her fake importance, which feels like it goes against both their characters. They make her "Strong and Independent" which means she is not only loud about it, because the movie thinks the only women worth a damn are, but the movie never does anything with this... Even if you LIKED new Uhura, the movie isn't going to do anything about it. Yet the part that makes me the most angry is that people fell for it! I had to hear on and on about how "Progressive" New Uhura is and how "Regressive" the Old Uhura was.
A possibly interesting Sci-Fi element she could have put in - You have Bi-Kim who likes men and women. What if in that world transitioning is so easy you could just pop in the gender shop for an hour and pop out a different gender like a barber shop. Trans-Kim could keep swapping between Man-Kim Woman-Kim. That would at least be an interesting What-If Sci-Fi element
Lmao an years later there is a series about a black girl and a trans man who cant pay rent and now have to do some shit to pay for it... Totally original
I don't like the art. It looks like a parody of a kid show. Spiderman, deadpool do comedy, hell even iron man and batman but you don't see lazy art. I really don't understand the hype if the story is shit, so is the art. I buy comics mostly for the art but with this idk what ppl hype about.
Whenever I'm pitched a book or film and the pitch leads off with, "This story features LGBT characters," I tune out the rest of the pitch. I then ask them to pitch again, and start with the story. Pitch the story, the characters will follow, and the reveals of the character, whatever those reveals are, will unfold in the story.
Am i very stupid, or this story its a clusterfuck of ideas that go no were and its impossible to follow? because thats how i fell i only got the basis of the comic but everything else i dont get it.
Writing stories or comic for the sole reason of representing LGBT characters and not giving a backstory is LAZY and horrid writing at its finest. If, writing institutions reward writers for Laziness and mediocrity, then what's the point in being nominated for a reward or even receiving a reward.
Thank you for giving up time you can never get back so we don't have to. I saw this while out shopping with a friend and was supicious. It had all those accolades but the shop owner said he couldn't give it away. If you have great stories in you please share them!
I watched this video because I had just seen another of your other videos and liked it a lot, and I was a bit curious about this despite the title seeming a bit off-putting- I've reached a point where any instance of SJW makes me fear some kind of opposite extreme reaction. But this video pleasantly surprised me. You gave an extremely even-handed review, and your points on identity politics were interesting, and it was great hearing a callout for an "SJW" book that really made sense. Yeah, having a world where identities unconventional for us be the norm can be an interesting setup, but if it isn't natural or isn't explained in an interesting way, why are you doing it? Because it doesn't actually enrich the landscape of stories featuring underrepresented minorities. And neither do these underdeveloped or awkward angst fests where it's just "boohoo people don't get my identity" and other characters patting them on the back instead of telling the actual story of the identity and what that is to the character. I've read books and played games that changed the way I thought about people, identities, and ideas. But things like this, things that are minority for the sake of being minority, they don't do that. Something mediocre like this is definitely something to someone, that someone being a person who just really wants to see action heroes more like themselves. And that is fine. But things like this shouldn't win awards, because they don't deserve them. They don't push forward what they claim to and they validate laziness and mediocrity. So I guess what I'm saying, a year after this video went up, is thanks for writing a review that actually addressed the problems instead of raging about how "feminists ruin everything" or some flat, underdeveloped strawman position. Gives me back some of my faith in humanity.
That's the same reason I like Just Some Guy's channel - his reviews are fair and he doesn't automatically label something as bad purely for having SJW elements.
I've been giving thumbs downs all evening. Finally an intelligent channel. Thank you, thank you! I can't believe the writer compared this to Tank Girl!!!
Wait, your a guy dating a guy. You transition. Then date a women. What? Why? I can write a better story then this. At least the characters won't be 2-dimensional.
and from the sound of things, just some what I can gleean from the panels, Kim didn't even transition for legitmiate reasons. the way its worded in her big speech there, it sounds like she just transitioned on a whim. that MAY not be an intentional thing on the writer's part, but yeeeeaaahh that doesn't sound very trans to me. It sounds very belittling to a trans person's plights.

Drugs and cursing don't make you a bad ass, I'm just going to say that.
Especially if you don't understand that writing has forms which require both to used in specific ways and not simply inserted anywhere you want because it won't work.
Be like Dante, he doesn't need to do drugs or swear excessively. He just needs to kill enemies with a motorcycle.
Take away the bad and blam.

Yep
If all I have to do is flaunt something as personal as my sexuality and my sexual identity then I should make a movie. Seriously, this is getting out of hand. I don't want people to give me praise for something as personal as that. I want to improve, both as a writer and a person. Let me improve and let my work speak for itself.
If the only personality traits of your character(s) are is that they're LGBT you need to stop writing/making characters thanks
I don't mind if they lgb whatever, but if it's constantly shoved in my throat, no thanks.
Akiera Tsuna A good example is Yuri on Ice. It has a bit of romance, but it mainly focuses on ice skating.
If the story was kept the same accept without them being trans, bi, or in any relationship other than friends, then no one would care. Literally the only reason anyone gives notice is the glbt stuff and that's it.
Jacob Sullivan The story is also a rip-off of Cowboy Bebop
Or Agent Aika. Word by word is the first season.
Or they could be trans and bi, but it won't be the main reason or purpose of the story, or an excuse for certain aspects/ situations in the story.
Jacob Sullivan truuuuuuuuue
Roark The Half-Orc If they were bi and trans and it was just ignored and wasn’t made a big deal out of it’d have a chance to be better.

The entire SJW movement is one big example of The Emperor Has No Clothes
That the best description of the SJW community i ever read.
I would give you more then 1 thumbs up if i could.
So right
How so?
(Correct me if I'm wrong)
SJW stories are similar in a way that you're called an anti-LDBTQ+ if you think that the story is awful (at least that's how I see it).
My mom was a big fan of the Ellen show. However after she came out of the closet and the show began to focus on lgbt issues my mom lost interest.
Already done, just play The Ballad Of Gay Tony.

John Glue maybe he's a trans man, in this case he isn't THAT evil ;-)
Wait, wait, wait, what are these "fans" you speak of?
I was thinking the same thing!
That trans Kim stole that guitar idea from FLCL.
Also, word by word this is the first season of Agent Aika
Tania R that's what I was thinking
Her bisexual friend, with all the stars on her, is most likely a character 'inspiration' of Stevonnie from Steven Universe.
And don’t forget the plot is ripped from cowboy behop
Nah son. That’s El Kabong. ruclips.net/video/010aaw1Ajo0/видео.html
Is it a fantasy world? I mean, the fact that daddy has to pay for their bullshit is pretty real.
I don't mean to sound narcissistic or anything, but this makes every one of my stories look like masterpieces
If your stories have actual endings then they are masterpieces by comparison.
That sounds cool af!
ianmaluk1 Cool idea, but that's been done before, except it was with just humans in some type of weird dystopian setting. Can't remember the book though, that was years ago.
i’m giving it the trans stamp of approval. particularly if one of the drones would prefer to remain nonbinary.
Change the insects to people and the planet to a ship in space and you basically have the anime "Knights of Sidonia"
Wasn't there a Lloyd in Space episode that had a species like that?
I can't remember which Kim is Kardashian and which one is Jong UN.

I agree. The Eisner award has been tainted by whatever fool who wanted to promote this individual's story. It would be ONE thing if amid all the shameless normalization and wish-fulfillment there was a link to the real world.

Sueprjail has better lgbtetc represnetation than this hog shit.
Visaggio got an award just for being transgender? That Kind of reminds me of how Black Panther had gotten 3 Oscars just because they had black actors & actresses.
She hates her dad yet he's the reason for her having *Another* roof over her head?
Blasphemy
Why does every single speech bubble seem to have cuss words in it. I'm not saying I don't use profanity, but using it every sentence is just trashy
I dunno - I just find that LGBT sounds better than GLBT, because we get the only non-ending with -ee letter out of the way first. So it's much balanced to say LGBT or GBTL, instead of putting L in the middle. [takes of hiss linguist glasses]
Well... as a writer this gives me hope. If shit like THIS gets published then I might have a shot.
You sound like a levelheaded, reasonable person. I wish we had more people like you in the world.
so youre an abhorrent progressive? oh great
This needs more likes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Awards don't mean anything anymore.
Well it means something to a generation that has been given Gold Stars and Trophies just for showing up at school with a #2 Pencil.
The thumbnail looks like Diavolo/Doppio fan art
I sense a JoJo fan, awesome.
Wow, her run of the Transformers and Visionaries comic lasted just as long as the original Visionaries run of 4 issues.
That's not out yet. It was her Kim & Kim comic that was 4 issues.
I know I'm 4 years late but: Magdalene....that's a man, right??
Maybe
Yes
Came back to this video 2 years later and it has 279k views. More people have watched this video than read Kim and Kim.
Actually this art style looks like one of those random webcomics that just come of as ridiculous.
So essentially, the creator did a horrible job ripping off Utena, managing to completely ignore the character and plot devolpment from Utena.
A+ , would ignore again.
also Utena was about more than gay stuff, namely deconstructing shoujo and fairy tale tropes and showing how screwed up the characters from those stories are
@@sarafontanini7051 Ah yes.
The horrible trope of turning into a pink convertible.
Vroom vroom.
I'm fearing that's what Star Trek Discovery is going to be and I don't like it.
Just Some Guy That's what I highly suspect as well. I have no interest in it and I'm a huge Trek fan. Everything is tainted.
Never seen a picture of Mags before and oh shit I can see why D&C calls her a man in a wig. Mean but accurate.
5 o'clock shadow. And someone needs to explain about eyebrow plucking.
The Eisner Award is meaningless.
Shame on you for conjuring images of Chris Christy into my mind!
You're right. Overreaching desire to make everybody like themselves
Ugh. That photo of the author killed my appetite for the next several years.
This hurts my soul
Your a breathe of fresh air.. I love your commentary... please continue.. it’s so important... thank you Just Some Guy..
LGBTQLMNOP lmao
Up down left right hold a and press start lmfao
Thank you for giving up time you can never get back so we don't have to. I saw this while out shopping with a friend and was supicious. It had all those accolades but the shop owner said he couldn't give it away. If you have great stories in you please share them!
*"SHE"*
I come up with better adventure plots during my day dreams, wheres my award??
Well, if there's one good thing about this comic, it prompted a video that added 'LGBTQLMNOP+*#^v[HOLD A][START]' to my vocabulary.
