So much for anything then... 😂😛 I agree. This is stupid. Way too expensive from the get go, and then a super expensive subscription for something that is only going to get minor changes over time.... At least with music streaming you get more music than you could possibly buy for that money and, for now, that's also true of netflix (although the quality is not always good). But for an app that's not going to change how the device fundamentally works? Nah.
Thanks for giving the most detailed overview I have seen of the device. I have seen a lot of ads for it on other channels, but nothing that really went into the details like your video.
My wife and I have had ours for over a year, and it has absolutely changed everything! We got in before the subscription model so I can’t speak to that, but when we upgrade to a king sized bed we will 100% buy it again!
Just a note. You said the you can change the settings from 0-10 and that it’s not temperature based settings. However, you can change the 1-10 to degrees and Fahrenheit in your settings. Thanks for the review, I like mine and traded my TV subscription which I never use.
Hard pass. That subscription is absolutely completely and utterly unreasonable. So is the buy in price. If it was maybe $6-700, it sounds like a cool thing. But what was it? 2.5k PLUS 170 a year. No.
You’d pay the same amount for the mattress with just the subscription price alone after close to 15 years; and that’s assuming the company is still in business. It’s fucking insane.
Sleep, is the number 1 recovery tool and the number 1 health promoter. I would justify 500 for a single mat with smaller unit. No need for metrics because i have the same metrics on my Garmin.
That's true! Though, the Eight Sleep utilizes the metrics to automatically adjust your temperatures throughout the night and learn your body over time.
The dockpro is still expensive (king is $2k) but less (and comes in half sizes so a half king is $1350). I made a comment about it. You wouldn't regret either though! Amazing technology if hot sleeping is an issue for you.
I’ve seen a few of these reviews and this is the best one. Well done Dave. Honest, as ever. The price I find mind blowing, and the subscription on top is ridiculous. That said, I’d try it. I don’t sleep well and temperature is a big factor but there is no freaking way my wife would agree to this. None. Shame, but there you go. Maybe a cheaper alternative will appear.
I actually love my eight sleep. The sleep tracking is super accurate based on how I feel in the morning and the warmth I need to fall asleep disappears so I don’t get overheated and wake up again
If you cancelled half of your subs and stopped wearing 76 smart devices whilst you are trying to sleep then you might feel both more relaxed and more comfortable?... Only playing. Lol. Thanks.
Very nice video. However I hope that in the future you keep your reviews totally unbiased and from my perspective it can only be achieved if you send the review unit back after the test. I would be 100% with you if you, after you tested the unit bought one with your own money. Though, you well deserve to get a nice present and all your regular reviews rock!
We'd heavily considered one for quite some time, but never bit the bullet because we were concerned our cats might accidentally puncture it. If the v4 is cat proofed we might consider it. We do have the BedJet and have been using it for years and it's a good compromise. Like you, we notice it's gone when we travel (in a bad way)!
Great review - thanks. I'd be really interested in your Garmin/Oura Ring sleep stats before and after getting the Eight Sleep. Did they improve across the board?
I have my pod 4 on order but I'm wondering if the app will work for my partner and will she be able to control her side if she gets the app too? Thanks
All companies that force you to buy a product and after that monthly pay to acces your data is a HARD pass for me. It is just corporate greed and I am sad that some people actually agree with this type of marketing. Watched the video for the channel.❤
The high price is one big negative, plus the necessary subscription makes it excessive! 👎 Natural ventilation and occasional air conditioning will have to do the job until these guys begin to lower the price and do away with this brazen subscription!
I'm sending my Pod 4 back. Contrary to the marketing there's nothing 'smart' about it at all. You simply set the temperature (+1, -2 or in Celsius / Fahrenheit) for 3 phases of sleep overnight and it simply holds it at that temperature. The 'autopilot' doesn't adjust the temperature to what your body needs according to your sleep stage, it just adjusts the temperature to what YOU set it to. There's no guidance on what temperature to set it to so you'll just randomly try temperatures and when you inevitably wake up you'll be cold or hot because it'll always be different to what your body temperature is. My wife and I slept worse with it. And it's noisy. The fan constantly hums all night long so it sounds like you have a tower PC next to your bed.
This hasn't been my experience at all. Yes, to start they suggest going with "0" as a setting as that is sort of the neutral position (zero doesn't mean off) and then adjusting from there to your comfort level. Once the bed learns your sleep habits it will make adjustments to improve your sleep but it does take a bit of time. How long did you use it for? In terms of the sound... Mine is relatively quiet. I can hear it when it's heating/cooling but it's certainly not loud by any means. The new Pod 4 is supposedly quieter... I plan on testing that soon. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@ChaseTheSummit We tried it for a few weeks during the 30 day trial period. We initially tried the 'zero' setting but it was too cold some nights and too hot on others and kept my wife & I awake. We double and triple tapped the pads on the side to adjust temperature and woke each other up each time we did. We waited the 7 days that autopilot is supposed to 'learn' about us expecting it to then automatically set the temperature, but no, you still have to do it yourself. Support were very responsive but ultimately they literally said "The best way to find a temperature range that works for you is by trying different settings". I.e. it's just random! After a few weeks (and before the 30 days) we gave up, turned it off and have now returned it.
The sad thing is, people probably are buying it. I don't think the company will stick around for long mind. Their goal is to generate a load of short term income, make the company seem amazing, then sell it off and down tools. By then, everyone who wants one will have one, half the people will stop paying for it, because it's just waaaay to expensive. And the company gets shut down. Oh, and there will be perfectly servicable, much cheaper options out there. Maybe ultrahuman will make one for $500 with no subscription... Haha
This isn’t advertising. As mentioned in the video it’s a review after using the product for over a month and the pros and cons from my perspective. Yes, it’s very expensive but it’s also change how I sleep and my wife loves it. If it’s too expensive for your budget don’t buy it… it’s that simple!
@@ChaseTheSummit 100%!! I have one of those competitors you mentioned (still water cooled) but if someone uses AC then this is better environmentally. It can also replace AC fully like it has for me. Plus my productivity in the world is so much better with a good night sleep. Great review!
First of all, I'd pay anything for good sleep. But . . . this and the subscription plan seems like a lot. Great review as always.

I saw a couple of complaints of that on reddit! Did Eight Sleep replace yours?
