I remade this video after 5 years because 1- the scores and rankings have shifted greatly and 2- Woz never took up my challenge to reclaim the crown. Maybe he has reached 999,999 but just never told anybody. The original video crossed the 10,000 view mark on the day I took it down to replace it with this remastered version, so add 10K to the view count for an accurate total. And no, I've never seen any other Apple movie besides Pirates of Silicon Valley.
I didn't remember having seen this video before, I like that you're such a perfectionist to take the time to make this remasters, I love these anecdotes, and you're right not to watch more apple movies, because Pirates of Silicon Valley is the only enjoyable one, the others look like commercials of several hours
It’s funny to look at now because the ending especially is framed as Microsoft being this giant monopoly which is/was true but with Apple as it is now, it’s just funny
Him flipping his name backwards was the same thing Stevie Wonder did with his instrumental album "Eivets Rednow". Great album and it makes me wonder is Steve took inspiration from that when he he did it as well.
@@GTV-Japan Even as a Stevie Wonder fan, I didn't discover the album until 4 years ago. I listen to it on the regular and it's one of his best. I hope Wozniak is portrayed in the upcoming "Tetris" biopic coming up, which I'm looking forward to, especially after watching a documentary on it recently. You do great work, GTV. Keep cooking, my friend ^_^
Legend has it Bimmy Ralphenstein later became the Infuriated Video Game Geek after his Contra record was found to be achieved through use of a Game Genie. Cheaters never win!
True story there was a fan letter someone sent to Nintendo Power with a high score done via game genie and the magazine busted the kid cold in the reader section! Forgot the exact issue but it was shortly after the GB genie was out. Thanks for watching and speaking of watches my $400 watch is telling me I’m out of time 🍏
This is such a random episode that I didn't know I wanted. That's why your channel is so special. The great narrating voice + taste of nostalgia + investigating obscure facts of my favorite games - it just presses all the right buttons.
Jobs was the one who started Wozniak on the path of designing the Apple I, to be fair. Came over and told him about these brand new “microprocessors” coming out and then Woz brought out his terminal he invented to go onto ARPAnet and put together a local computer to connect to instead. That was the Apple I. And yes he went on to make the Apple II which you can trace back a LOT of video game history to. Dragon Quest? Inspired by a classic that debuted on the Apple II, Wizardry. Same with Final Fantasy. The creators of both series were inspired by it. And then he quits Apple and becomes a school teacher. Dude is probably the most down to earth “guy responsible for huge changes in the world”. I wish I had him for like an uncle or something. Not for any possibility of money, but because he seems like he’d be a fun uncle to talk to as a computer geek. Who just happens to kick serious ass in Tetris.
I love both versions of this video. The history is very interesting and your style makes it even more worth the watch. To me, Tetris is the best video game of all time; and Tetris Effect Connected is the best version of the game. Great work, as usual.
Apparently the guys who eventually founded EGM descended from twin galaxies because some of those guys formed the National video game team which lead to getting into publishing as a way to self promote that ended up making those guys insiders. Maybe I should look into that more. Would be interesting despite mister hot sauce ruining the legacy🍏
wow, yeah I believe it! can't believe I'd never heard this story before. oh yeah when I brought up 'us festival' in the 'yume kojo' episode that was steve's brainchild of an event! (pretty sure the side tent with the technology stuff had a bunch of apple computers and consoles of the time like the 2600) I figured he probably played games at least a little bit, but had no idea he was huge into gameboy tetris and submitted scores to nintendo power!
Part of the US festival and others he had after were live satellite broadcasts to the USSR and east Germany which is probably how he got on Gorby’s good side. He helped bring the wall down in his own way!
I only know about the "Us Festival" from a Simpsons reference, where he also has never heard of Apple Computers. This aired before they'd regained popularity from products like the iPod, so at the time it made sense that Homer didn't remember Apple.
It’s very odd being an old time Apple fan who lived through the disastrous clone era and the return of Steve to see the rebirth and iPod and iPhone mania and now all these people have iPhones who were never along for the whole ride.
Wow, I was really surprised by this video and how Steve Woz managed to be on the top of Nintendo Power for 15 years. PS: I also learned that either in this video or in the Tetris video documentary from Gaming Historian, Mikhail Gorbachev will somehow always be involved in some way with Tetris.
Gotta pay your photographer! Think about it. Someone wants a picture of X but it doesn’t exist so person Y tries to make it happen therefore providing a service. It’s only fair that the work gets compensated. Had it been something in the 100s, I might have just passed on it though 😂 thanks for watching 🍏
Yeah certainly but I did want to revisit the topic. Originally I had hoped it would somehow encourage Woz to retake the title which would have been cool. Especially if some minor RUclips video was the catalyst. But then it just never happened. Doh
I remember going to a screening of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in 2001 on or around the night of release, and the previous showing was letting out, so we sat there through the credits. I found a name so strange that I read it aloud and was like, "That's an odd name, 'Haywood Jablome'." Realizing what it really was after saying aloud, we all started cracking up. However, someone must have caught this, or something to that effect, because if you watch the DVD version (god help you if you're that desperate for entertainment) it certainly isn't in there.
6:40 Re Metroid 2, it says “Don’t waste your time looking for extra power-ups”. Ok, but how are you supposed to beat the final boss without all the extra missiles?
You think if Wozniak ever said "Evets Kainzow" out loud, he'd return to the dimension from which he came? Also, I thought the all mighty trash heap was Marjorie. The trash heap has spoken. Nyeeeehhhh.
I’d that’s true then my multiple takes of the recording did some crazy damage! Wheels the trash heap is a funny reference I do mean it quite seriously that people these days are trained to run to Google for any little question rather than thinking about it yourself or talking it over with someone. I remember bull sessions at work and school where you could have fun talking about stuff like those but nothing was ever provable.
@@GTV-Japan Jobs seems like a real scumbag. Jobs hired Wozniak to work on that Atari Breakout game he was given a bonus by Atari, and Jobs just kept the money and didn't let Wozniak know about it. (He eventually found out about the bonus and felt betrayed.)

I’m glad you see it my way! It’s kind of funny because it was presented in a way that Apple gets taken over but who really had the last laugh?
POSC is easily the best "Apple" movie, no need to view any of the other ones. Although, the Aston Kutcher one isn't too bad, just really romanticized.
It’s funny to look at now because the ending especially is framed as Microsoft being this giant monopoly which is/was true but with Apple as it is now, it’s just funny

That is indeed an amazing story. This man is a legend, THE legend of Apple.

One of the weirder funny stories out there. I mean who’d have thought it?
The Woz was the best part of Apple Computer, they lost something after he left as chief engineer. Great video again salary man!
It is very true! It could not have been created without him.
Steve woz is kinda cool. Saw him at the first ever silicon Valley comic con a few years ago.
Every time I hear you say "Evets", it makes me think of Yvan eht Nioj.
