These instructions are perfect. I'm waiting on the part and as a female, I feel confident that I can fix my own washer. The technician had already milked me for $100 when I told him this was the problem. He came back and wanted to charge me $300 extra dollars. I politely told him no. DIY

Danise Jackson I agree with Danise. I had the same problem with my LG and was able to replace the valve in 15 minutes. It took longer to clean the lint behind the washer than to replace the valve. I went ahead and replaced both the cold and hot valves while I had the washer torn down. Good video. I probably saved 300.00 or so like Danise. The two valves I purchased were genuine LG parts and cost about 68.00 for the two. Good job!

I had a professional assess my washer and was told the part was obsolete. I put up with the additional time it took to wash a load of laundry for almost a year. I decided to research the issue prior to buying a new washer and dryer and this video saved me a lot of money. I purchased the inlet valve for less than $15.00 and it worked!! Thanks!

Thank you so very much for these instructions! My husband and I got the part in less than 24 hours from Amazon and our washer is working again. While I have total respect for repairmen in general (as there are many repairs I have no business handing) it's nice to know that something as simple as this can be done by the homeowner.

This video was spot on! Our washer flooded our laundry room and bedroom. I found the part locally and husband followed easy video instruction. Fifteen minutes later washer was up and running with no issues. Note the part was $50-$60 range online but couldn't get it until a week later. The only local parts house that had it charged $95. So decide if you want to save money and wait for laundry to pile up. It was worth the extra cash to get washer running. At the very least we saved $$ on a technician service call. Excellent video!

Very helpful! Was able to replace the inlet valve on my own. Replacement part on Amazon was approx. $35. The broken inlet valve was causing the washer to continue filling and then would overflow out the loader. The only trouble I had was getting the top of the LG unit off - 10 year old unit. I needed to use a pair of gardening gloves for extra leverage which did the trick with a little 'umph'. Would recommend having both a wrench and pair of pliers handy.

*** FLOODSAFE HOSES *** Make sure you also check the hoses. I had these Floodsafe hoses that worked in isolation but would "collapse inside" when connected to the washer. Replacing the hoses and keeping the old valves was the real solution for me!!!

  • @williamhartman1239
    @williamhartman1239 9 лет назад +6

Helpful tip for correct reassembly is to number each coil, it's wiring connector and hose on the clamp On the old valve before removal. Remove the old valve, number the new valve on each coil exactly like the old one and match up numbers on the hoses and wiring clips for fool proof reassembly.

And for any repair on any item in the house your smartphone is your backup.
Take an initial photo of the current setup.
Use some painters tape and number each item - as you mentioned - as painters tape pretty much sticks to anything and comes off easily with no mess..
Move something - take a photo.
      Makes the reassembling easy as.

This video only addresses the cold water inlet valve, not the hot water valve. If my LG washing machine (almost identical to the one in the video) is leaking water into the drum when not in use, how do I know if it's the cold water or hot water valve? Is it only ever the cold water side that causes this problem?

hi, I have a WM2688HWM - randomly after a good working wash cycle we can come back to the washer and find standing water when there was none earlier. We haven't timed it but it seems like its at least an 1 hour or few hours and the washer will have standing water. Also, it doesn't do it every time. the water seems clean and I drain it every time using the drain line and filter removal and a bucket. I'm thinking its the cold water valve as this is clean water and its happening way after a cycle??? does this sound right? for the price of the part online, its worth a shot for me and I don't mind buying and trying this if it maybe the culprit.thanks in advance,-J

I turned it on and it was working fine for about 5 minutes then generated an FE code. does anybody know what could be the problem . the washing machine seems to keep filling and emptying and doesn't go into the next cycle. I read somewhere online says I have to replace both the hot and cold water inlet valve. is that correct?

    • @repairclinic

+Robyn Keller I could be a bad water inlet valve. The other possibility is low water pressure to the appliance. Low pressure will allow water to get through the valve when not in use.

Steven Lefebvre You may be observing the rinse function of the washer. You are saying the washer takes too long to complete a load or it is getting hung up in spin? That would be a motor speed or control issue and not a water inlet issue.

After putting hoses back on the new valve and putting clamps in place attach inlet hose and pressurize lines for a few minuets and check for LEAKS, I left mine attached and under pressure for 10 min. No leaks. Installing defective dripping valve can cause damage to other components costing more.

I ha an LG Washer, Model WM2688HWMA. I recently replaced the bearings which also involved replacing the rear outer tub, the old one had cracks around where the seal should go and would not allow it to snap into place. I did clean the inlet valve filters while I had the hoses off.
Within the first couple of days, we had an FE code which sounded the alarm and we caught it in time to avoid problems.
Today the front door on the washer burst open with water going every where and lots of water still in the tub so I figure it over filled. There was no alarm though.
Question(s), what should I check, the inlet valve(s) or the water level control or all of the above. Or just replace these items? One thing, the top hose (largest one) had a different part inline than the original which was mushroom shaped.

DO NOT BUY the cheap knock off valves!! Only buy original LG parts.
