The Megane looked nicely balanced through some of the trickier, bumpy corners. I agree with the others that the driver of the Megane seemed to know the "green hell" better and that is always an advantage. I can drive the track in my mind knowing it so well, but when you don't know it perfectly it pays to back off a little because it can really bite you.

The megane is well known for its cornering capabilities but the Porsche pulls away so obviously in a longer straight. Anyway i think the cars are in two different leagues. Not that far away but different nonetheless. I think any non biased motorhead will agree.
Well done for keeping up with the more powerful Porsche. Both of these cars are beautiful and very much driver focused. Are both vehicles stock standard? Love the Renault.

You can say that about any car. the fact is, if both cars are stock (with exception of tires), then the Megane won that battle. The Megane driver was almost toying with that Cayman. Truly great driving.

Je te trouve (un an après) un peu dur, si tu avais les moyens de te prendre une Porsche, une Mercedes, une BMW, irais-tu chez Renault? Sorry guys. It is true, a Megane is much easier to drive quick. But the Cayman R just played a bit with the Megane for fun. The driver of the Cayman R held the record for street legal cars on Nordschleife for several years.He knows the track better than 99,9% of the drivers and had a lot of fun playing with this megane.Also had a passenger onboard and gave him a nice show ;) He was probably smiling as the Renault passed him.He drove relaxed to let the Renault keep up.
Very nice driving. Also Cayman did good job blocking,but it is clear that Cayman is bit stronger so it is very difficult to overtake on a straight line,anyhow good driving both cars...
The Porsche drvier isn't bad at all, but looks like they might not be that familiar with the track... then again, it takes about 200 laps before you even begin to know the Ring.

The cayman was faster in some straights yes, however the megane showed superior cornering ability. If that is chassis or driver capability of either machine or driver it cannot be fairly commented on without a test of both cars with the same driver. I think you would find on a wider track the renault would pass and leave the cayman far earlier but with all the traffic slowing them both down it was far more difficult. Slipsteam is not good for everything, braking for example..
RENAULT SPORT & PORSCHE are the both same builders in theirs categories of sportcars and supercars : Not the most powerfull cars in the start of a race but always the 1st in the end ^^
But its fun to see how while the Porsche is struggling trough corners, Megane seems to go trough so smoothly and with ease, and its FWD. It clearly has much more grip than Porsche.
Der Megan kommt so viel besser durch die Kurven. Das liegt ja wohl auf den Reifen. Lob an den Fahrer sehr gut gefahren. Wäre interessant ob der Porsche mit gleichen Reifen dem Megan wegfahren kann.

I keep watching this video over and over, I am looking to buy a car for track, and hesitating between those 2 exact cars. I see on the other hands some videos of stock Cayman R at Nurburgring doing 7:53 in traffic... But this Megane is so close for 20K Eur less that I really don't care about the brand or the fact Cayman R will be very collectible... really hard choice! :)
Put a powerful engine in a car is easy for all builders but build a real racing car great in all points few of racing builders know made that like Renault Sport! Although I agree the megane is a fast car (I have one) with an equal good driver the cayman will be faster as well.

Der Megane ist mit einem 6 Gang Schaltgetriebe und mit Serienleistung (265 PS) ausgestattet!
Es gibt den Megane auch nur mit dem Schaltgetriebe!
