- Fico has a long waiting list since its opening in May.
I’ve tried to walk in or called on actual day but to no avail.
Today’s lucky and I got the first seating.
This is likely one of the nicest restaurants along East Coast Park, as it is a standalone structure with a fantastic seaside view.
Fico serves Pugliese (South Italy) cuisine, which is more rustic compared to what we are more used to.
I’ve had such when I travelled to South Italy.
The baked Tomino cheese seems a must order as it is baked cheese, think hot and oozing.
This is wrapped in pancetta and baked with rosemary and evoo.
The San Marzano Tomatoes Focacinna is its signature. I don’t really like fresh tomatoes but this is sweet and good.
Between the white ragu spinach pasta and beef ragout pasta, I opted for the latter (even though I was contemplating the more unusual former. It wasn’t too salty or heavy so it was a good choice.
Desserts, I knew I wanted burrata gelato. I was thinking of pistachio cannoli or amarena cherry Zeppole and I chose the latter. I’ve tried cannoli and I didn’t really enjoy them. And I was v happy with my choice. The gelato is nothing like the usual cheese ice cream. I feel it’s really like fresh burrrata served with vegetables as a starter, as it is almost tasteless and not sweet at all. The flavours come from the strawberry tomato jam, sea salt and evoo. I highly recommend to try this.
