It's amazing what you can do when you combine Hard work and talent, This movie had such a small budget, yet it's so powerfull and moving, a lot of studio's nowdays could take a lesson from this.
Saw this in the early 80s on Channel 4 in the UK. This and various other animations were shown as part of a thirty minute time slot. Out of all the ones I saw, this stuck with me the most and wondered if I would ever see it again.
Early on, the Soviets developed a frequent use of film without dependence on dialog. It was a deliberate use of film as a language independent, international media. The classic in this area is "A Man With A Movie Camera", which is quite a city life documentary.
In war, nobody wins. I wish our countries' litany of various leaders would learn this lesson. The people who decide a country will start/go to war aren't the ones who fight & die in them (usually, post-medieval era).
Finally I fount it in RUclips. I love this animation since I see it. You don't need russian to understand, in a War, no one wins. GRAET and SIMPLE. 2 KUDOS Yago

But main things told about America in Propaganda had much truth in them, like the many homeless, the large poverty and crime rates. This was mostly unheard of in USSR (not saying there were poverty here, there was, but not any homeless or beggars. And crime rate was very low), so people didn't really believe in this either. So you can't say it was all lies.

Sorry, but life in Soviet Union had many advantages, and was of relatively high quality (compared to rest of world, also West) until the 80's, when it began to decline. Of course freedom, democracy etc was lacking, but Soviet Union was advanced in other aspects of social life.
Now, about the nationalized education in America, I'll have to admit that it's one thing that's lacking a bit as of now. Most of my good education comes from reading on my own and talking to people that were educated back when it was much better or from private schools.
Now with the second. The Soviet Government would not allow their people to leave the borders of the country to see the world for themselves. They were trapped in a cage. A rather large cage but nevertheless a cage. The Berlin Wall is a perfect example of this. People are not meant to be trapped like animals in a zoo. If people want to leave a country and go somewhere else to either work or live a new life, they they should be able to do so. The Soviet Union didn't allow that.
Lol. Who makes iron curtain? Stalin? You serious? Then who makes embagro on Kuba? Castro? Who burns Reichstag in begging 30s to arrest communists? Communists?
First let me ask right up front, could we keep this a civilized debate and not decend to deragatory name calling? (Not that you presented any evidence of such a thing but it's just an up front request) It's funny that you immedietly ask what was bad about the soviet union during the years that Stalin wasn't in power because I would really have a lot more to say about the sins of the soviet government (say shooting their own men for retreating). It doesn't fall under what you ask but it's bad.
Flashmikko, tell me how S. Union (post 1956) was bad. Tell me why Communism is bad, and what the Soviet government did to it's people which was so bad (post 1956) and why it was worse then what other nations did. To me you sound like you base all your knowledge on the (famously bad) US school system.
It was desperate time, and similar to German orders to shoot anyone who retreated during 1944/1945. But I agree, it was barbaric order by Stalin nonthe less. PS. Education in US is pretty much sub standard compared to most of the European ones. And there is still this bias versus Soviet Union, like there was in Cold war.
Soviets given ruthless orders to fight? It is our propaganda because we cannot imagine fighting without orders, a what situation would entail that. USSR was being invadED in WW2, not invadING, which is categorically different. Stalin wild be almost an Angel if forced to compare to Hitler. Even with NATO supplying to Ukraine and firing since 2014, Russia is again the victim and Washington the aggressor. Why? When Germany is invaded, or US is invaded, you will find that the leader doesn’t need to give orders to fight, and we have so little experience of it.
Tbh, I think you have good purposes, but you are biased against USSR without your will. Sure, like I am against US. But don't lecture me about USSR, I know many people who spent good years there, (and many who didn't either). What bad things in USSR, were simply lack of democracy, bureaucracy and often lack of goods you want to buy.
Now, on to Communism. The main problem that I have with it is that it doesn't work. I admit that it's a beautiful dream but it's something that humans are not set for by nature. Humans want to succeed in something and do much better in something when there is a personal initiative to do better. Let's look at the soviet animators for instance. No matter how well poorly their films did, they were always paid the same as the next animator. Where's the initiative to do well? There is none.
In war, nobody wins. I wish _all_ countries' litany of various leaders would learn this lesson. The people who decide a country will start/go to war aren't the ones who fight & die in them (usually, post-medieval era).
