    Dropped my phone yesterday. And it now had a crack running in the glass from the top right of the phone to the bottom left. Everything still seems to be working. So I'm in doubt if I should replace the front of my phone. Even though in the video it doesn't seem too hard, I wonder if someone like me who isn't that technical and a bit clumsy when it comes to finer movements, will get it done without causing even more damages.

    Good Morning. I see a common error in many technicians, which is to connect the screen with the battery connected, that usually burns the screens. It is advisable to disconnect the battery and then connect the screen. The iphone have boosters that make the screens functions with approximately 24VDC. It is just an advice!

BUT - You have to give the guy some credit. He DOES know what he's doing. Aside from the ESD strap, he did the repair, he was well organized, he used the right tools, and he demonstrated it quite well... Perhaps, he just didn't wear the strap to make the video easier to record.

    • @richardvaughan25
      @richardvaughan25 7 лет назад +8

      Static bands are for discharging static electricity that your body might have accumulated due to friction. These static charges can be accidentally discharged onto the fragile components in PCB and small electrical parts on cellphone internals, rendering unusable. In order to work, they need to be connected to ground so that the charges flow to the ground and you become electrically discharged.

    • @jtaylor8606
      @jtaylor8606 5 лет назад +1

      @@diddykong7354 You can buy original screens. The real reason he's doing it is 'cos labour is so cheap in the far-east that's it's a viable business model over there.

      @@jtaylor8606 um original screens that are new are from the companies that make the phone themselves. refurbished is using other oem parts to make one refurbished part. for instance, a screen with a good glass but a non working LCD or OLED screen put together with a working LCD or OLED screen but has a broken glass.

      Its done everywhere in China. There is a whole market for broken screens and refurbishing them. There is also industrial tools to do them in bulk.

    A few questions. Why did the Polarizer and Backlight have to be replaced? They were not damaged. Also I cannot log in to your website to check parts prices, always saying wrong password even after resetting mine.

      Hi, friend. For Polarizer, to remove is quicker than remain it. For Backlight, we just want to show the backlight replacing process to the audiences.
