Hoping to get a response. I enjoyed the part 1 of transplanting old azaleas (which I want to do from my grandmothers home place). Before taking this on, I would love to see the part 2 and hear about the transplanting success and blooming that took place the following spring. So far, I haven’t been able to find part 2.
Hi Cindy!! Thank you for your comment and for asking about Part 2. We moved before we could make a Part 2, so unfortunately there isn't a follow up video. We can tell you that each plant did start to regrow from the VERY hard pruning they received and had healthy leaves. They even flowered, just a little bit, that next spring. @@SpokenGarden - I live in south Central New Hampshire which is zone 5 but on the cusp of zone 6. Being in zone 8, you could have beautiful Azaleas blooming almost all year long. They are called "Encore Azaleas". They are hardy to zone 6 which is why I decided last year to experiment with them. I bought two plants and kept them in a large pot all summer. Well they bloomed like a machine until frost in November. I planted on in the ground and the other I took in the house for the winter. I covered the one I planted in the ground with bubble pack for protection. When I uncovered it in April as the weather warmed up, I was please to see that it was still alive so that encouraged me to buy six more plants this year. I planted all of them including the one I kept in the house last winter. Now I will see how many survive the winter this year. But my point is that with all the beautiful Azaleas you already have, they only bloom for about a week or so, then you're left with only a green bush while if you planted the Encore Azaleas, you'd have nice blooms all summer long, right up until frost and they come in all the different colors that regular Azaleas come in.
Guys....so cant grow them here in El Paso....I'm a very experienced gardener but, Azaleas 😔...... too hot! very difficult to maintain acidity and an evenly moist soil
