Does taking more gear on a camp make it more enjoyable and comfortable? Or is it best to go UL / light / ultralight? I packed loads of gear for this one to see if more gear means more fun!
This was the maiden voyage for my new 8.8R nature hike sleep mat and my flames creed down quilt too. Look out for separate videos on these!

The only thing missing is a 72” tv and a hot tub 👌🏻🏕️
The TV was out of shot 😆
@@DaleyOutdoors I knew it
Watch the match !
And a glamorous assistant to change Channel, keep you company in the hot tub, and cook your beans 'n' sausage supper! 🤣👍🏻
Sometimes it's fun to go all out and camp in luxury. Outstanding job. Cheers
It sure is 🫡
Thanks for posting! Considering a unit like this for mid-winter power loss. This was helpful.
No problem! 🫡
And there's me umming and arring about whether to pack a 357g hot water bottle on my last bikepacking voyage!
Daley sure knows how to camp in style 😃
I ALWAYS take my hot water bottle. It's a must have and completely changes the experience for me❤
@@TimelordUK I've recently been converted, and it's now a must take item on my packing list. You're so right, it's a definite game changer!
@@johnvine5731 I know! All this talk about R ratings and £190 for this and £200 for that...TAKE A HOT WATER BOTTLE!!
I car camp and soon to really start ebike camping with a trailer and at my age 63 I like as much comfort as possible but I always take too much kit. 😁 Having leccy for a 40w leccy blanket is becoming an essential part of my kit along with my 300W power station. 😜
I saw you had to move the tent around to find a decent pitch Nen, maybe this problem could be reduced substantially by camping in the back garden? Less chance of near or wolf attack, good foraging possibilities in eg the house fridge, and in a worst case scenario you are closer to a landline in case you need to call the coastguard.. 🤣👍🏻 BnS!
Landline? It’s nearly 2025 man.
@@DaleyOutdoors I had forgotten what a landline was for a minute, lol
Be careful with those pillow lock tabs... they can scuff your sleeping bag material if your pillow disengages during the night
Hi Ben, At first I thought Ben has gone a bit mad! A electric heater, toaster and kettle! Then I thought Premier inn without the £75! Cost! Then the penny dropped no mini bar😢😢😢😢! If Premier inn doesn't have a mini bar just play along! Then I thought surely that trolley could carry a dozen or so tinnies along side the mini power bank! This video has been a eye opener to the possibilities of camping without hiring a camping pod or yet! I have a tight arses option! Make the toastie at home wrap in foil tightly and place in a zip fit bag to be heated in a pan of boiling water later then instead of kettle get a good quality flask and fill with boiling water just before leaving for camp! This will free up lots more space in pull along trolley for a 24 pack and your tent and gas canisters! You may be unaware of this but half way through your fantastic video a add came on for a very stylish Japanese watch the type James Bond would wear, Normally £500 but now only £35! I think if you ask the wife nicely it would look great in future video's! Have a great camp xmas😂😂😂! All the best! Mark!
Haha thanks Mark. I need to find that watch!
I wish I could sleep with my glasses on!
😂😂😂
At least you made it into the great outdoors with all that clobber Daley 👍. I'd have stayed in the back garden 🙂
I was tempted 😆
I'm at the beginning of the vid. From your accent you sound like your English, and this is how the English heavy camp. When I "Family" camp, where you bring everything but the kitchen sink. The American version is to fill the back of your full-size pickup truck with equipment. This will include an 8-man tent which holds a queen size air mattress very nicely, a screen tent so you can eat at the given picnic table and not have to share with the local fauna, you'll have at least 2 gas lanterns and at least a 2-burner stove along with your grill. For entertainment we have a DVD player hooked up to a small screen for a movie. Along with several 5-gallon water jugs and a large amount of unmentioned items. This is how Americans "Heavy" camp. yes, no kitchen sink but we settle for a large metal bucket set over the fire to warm up for washing
I’m a wild camping/backpacking channel. This is the “heavy” version of that. What you describe is just called camping in the UK 🤓
Great content mate. Keep v looked at these myself for my van.
Thanks! 🫡
Great stuff, I like the fact you weren't hardcore schilling the power bank and I'm looking forward to the sleep mat review. I looked at that one myself but went for the One Tigris one instead.
Thanks! Sleep mat video should be out this week.
That was a cool vid Benji Boy, I like that tent & all the other bits actually, not for rucksacking, but on a site... Was U in public woods, mention of seeing dog walkers, did they see U & just pass on by...??? I've been sprung a few times, dogs or joggers, don't bother me anymore, probably thought U just arrived on a dinghy... Was looking forward to seeing Ur Panini's & they didn't disappoint...!!!😄😋✔️💯👊
Cheers Kev. I'm loving the tent so far. I was in private woods but there's a public footpath running through it. The panini's were awesome 🤤
I use my Alpkit Pipedream 400 as a quilt. Much nicer.
I like the free movement feel.
Those panini’s looked the dogs 😋
OA5P footage looks good 😉👍🏼
I only had my filming light on the first strength on this one to test the camera out. It did better than I expected 👌I’ll turn it back up s few notches for more light in future though 🫡
@ Excellent, it looked great to me.
When I said about my Alpkit being nicer; I meant as in nicer as a quilt, not nicer than your quilt.
Just to clarify 😊👍🏼
I need one of those carts. Would be handy for hike in sites. Nice powerstation. Could bring the laptop and game a bit. Edit the video in real time. 😂 They are essential for running fans during hot Summer days at the farmers market.
Hey I use my mummy sleeping bag as a quilt, has foot box, just the toggle gets in the way around the top, and the hood but where there's a will there's a way! You've still got that great little Decathlon headtorch! It's so comfy that, I got one after seeing you and Wildbeare with it.
I’ve got two of the head torches. I like it that much I bought a spare in case they stop selling them or change them. Sad aren’t I 🤣
@daleyoutdoors Well, if it's a really good product they're bound it stop selling it....
You'll be doing a Victor Kiam ,Ben . So impressed he bought the Company !
When you carry this kind of weight its even more important to cut off the handle on your toothbrush.
Not for me, 😂 but definitely some car campers dream!
I haven't backpacked with less than 55lbs... needed basically everything for those trips though...
Take both quilts when you test that new mat. It sounds like you weren't particularly impressed, so having a dedicated quilt under you might mean that you don't have a really miserable night.
You missed a trick. Electric blanket.
Damn it.
Doggy doo doo
Thought I packed heavy!!!
I grabbed an Anker power station and a cheap solar panel recently. Its about 10% of your output, but its a lot lighter and cheaper. Not expecting much from the panel living in the UK. 😊
Have you charged it, then emptied and charged it a second time? You may find you get a little bit more power the second time.
I’ve run through it 3-4 times now but have been using different devices on it and not really watched it too closely 🤓
@daleyoutdoors mine charges phones and devices at an incredible speed, and can keep the wifi router running if we lose power. That was my main purpose. I'm definitely not lugging it up the mountains... Clever technology, I think these days we should all have a backup.
Great camp Daley, loved the fake wake 👍
I been waiting in anticipation to see what you'd hauled in since you posted the original pic 😃
We do take a small solar power station when we go car camping (only 600w) and it's been absolutely great for our needs.
Also handy as an emergency back up at home too.
Glad you enjoyed it mate 🫡
What tent is that please
The one I mention and type on screen 14 seconds in 😆
One thing me duck you didn't take me!
Not in a million years would I pay that price for that 😮 stick to gas and a stove
That’s not camping , that’s glamping. I know it’s easier but takes all the fun out of it.
10/10 fake wake
Thanks 👌
Who wears specs all night (if they aren't drunk)?
@@tonysutton6559 I’ll try harder next time 🤓
I knew you had one of those types of power unit in that bag for life 😂😂😂 Do I win a prize?
No.
@daleyoutdoors 🤣🤣🤣🤣
but you forgot the kitchen sink? 😲
It was behind the camera 🫡
You could have saved 2% and done the panini on the heater 😂
True 🤣
Isn't that what hotel trouser press are for?
I just want to see a video with ben using the stove in that hot tent all night
No kitchen sink?? 😂
I kept it off camera 🫡
1200 quid 22 kgs nar m8 this isn't for camping no way 😢
Ultra Heavy Camping Gear, UHC Gear
A new player on the market!!
You're onto a winner there!!!
Quick questions,
What are those pillow lock gizmos, will they work with any pillow and mat combo, where do you get them?
Regards, Wadi
They sea 2 summits own pillow lock system. They only work with their pillows and mats but if you contact them they send out the stickers to put on other mats.
amateur .. you could have brought an electric blanket .. lol
Ben, well, that was kinda sorta like "genre-challenging". You, ostensibly, used and reviewed some new outdoor kit...yet there was something different, even off-key about it. I think I once said, in affectionate jest, that you seem to be aiming to be "the Anti-Messner". Is this perhaps the first video in a new Wild Camper/Outdoor hiker sub-genre, the "Anti-Gear Review"? Meanwhile, back on "Wolf Watch", have you seen that insufferable Luke has scored 100,000+ views on a video about a Belgian outdoor RUclipsr who just died on a cold weather camp (for his channel) in Lapland? Let no tragedy be unwasted for your RUclips metrics!😀😅🤣😂
I saw the thumbnail for it but doesn’t look like my kind of video. I’ll give it a miss 🫡
This only makes sense on YT you wouldn't drag this round in the real world..
Yep. That’s why I said that in the video…
I would.
