In this video I show how I made a Brass Hammer from Penn State Industries’ New Brass Hammer Kit (amzn.to/2GMwpYV) using an Olivewood turning blank. I first drilled a hole for the threaded rod and turned the blank round on the lathe. I used a roughing gouge, carbide scraper, and bowl gouge to shape the handle. After a round of sanding up to 600 grit I wiped on a few coats of Formby’s Tung Oil Finish, let it cure for a few days, and epoxied the handle into the brass head with the supplied threaded rod.
