    It saves a lot of time to just plant them directly in the growing container. I'm getting older and don't want to transplant if I don't have to. Potatoes are one crop that benefit from sowing directly in container.
    Easy gardening & composting is my motto.

    Great idea with good results, but some of the potatoes are green. You need to plant the potatoes lower in the ground and as the plant grows, add more dirt. Also, to avoid bruising the fresh potatoes, dump the container over and separate it that way to prevent peeling the skin of the potatoes with your fingers as you remove the dirt. That’s in case you want to heal them and store the long term. But overall, I’m so very happy for you, thank you for sharing.

      YOUR IDEAS ARE GOOD MAM , BUT ONE CORRECTION PLEASE SOIL IS NOT " DIRT" , BUT SOIL HAS SUCH INTELLIGENCE , ABOVE OUR KNOWLEDGE . ONLY THE SOIL KNOWS THE SECRET OF HOW THE SEEDS PLANTED IN IT GROW AS TREE , AND PRODUCE VERITIES FRUITS , FOOD FOR ALL CREATURES , ACTUALLY WE ALL ARE DESTINED TO BE TOP SOIL . SOIL IS SO PRECIOUS MORE VALUABLE OR EQUALLY VALUABLE LIKE WATER, AIR, FIRE, AND SPACE .

      AND if you look at The Message Bible translation, it says “Until you return to that ground yourself, dead and buried;

    A good way to grow potatoes! You may have needed to keep the mulch on the soil or add more of the rice husks as the mulch disintegrated as potatoes grow better in the soil without exposure to sunlight. There is a guy who covered his soil with cardboard to prevent the sun from getting on to the potatoes! Also there are videos which show persons placing the potatoes at the bottom of the container and adding the soil as the plant grows! It may mean that they get potatoes of different sizes as some potatoes form later than others.

    Why all the extra work of transplanting? It's much easier and no chance of shock to the plants to direct sowthe seed potatoes. Also, you can cut the seed potatoes in half and have better spacing on the plants = larger harvest. (Just make sure each half has some eyes.)

    I don't understand why you would sprout them 1st just plant them in the containers

    • @zareenkhan5384
      @zareenkhan5384 2 года назад +1

      You need to sprout them first to see if they are able to grow later and once it’s sprouted you can grow it with confidence and saves disappointment later, I hope you understand the logic behind it 😊

    From Maui, you forgot the most important part ! What soil and fertilizer, how often ?
    In the Bibel the fertile soil is as important as the seed !
