That isn't going to work... the runout on the shaft is terrible! It's now going to be off centered and will wobble like a madman. Why do these people keep making the same damn mistake time and time again? Take a solid shaft, cut out 50% of it's strength and then ???? thread it???? Then weld the threads? Weld will be rigid, but the threads will flex and then the weld will break and the repair will fail again. This is pretty much a video on what NOT to do on a metal lathe. Alll these dummies are doing is wrecking what appears to be a new lathe. Use a sledge on a new lathe in my shop and you are looking for another line of work. I could not believe my eyes, just WOW. Stopped watching right then and there.
