- Hey everyone, it's been a busy few months but we finally found an apartment in Berlin after a three month long search. We moved in December 1st and have been settling in since then.
How to find a flat in Berlin? Honestly, not much advice here, sublets are quite easy to find but long term contracts are nearly impossible to get these days. We found this place on wg-gesucht and were lucky because the landlords showed the place only to us.

Wow! My now-wife then girlfriend lived on Chorinerstrasse and I lived in NY. I loved all the Berlin apartments but we ended up in NYC. Now decades later we have a child living in Hamburg. This video brings back many fond memories.

I quite like the wallpaper. Something different than all this minimalistic stuff you see everywhere. It's a sublet, in the end youcan live with it. I was suprised that you came across a bit, well, moany and arrogant in this video, not used to that. I think you will get into all of this and feel right at home soon! 135 qm is really BIG.

lol, I don’t mind the green wallpaper (the other one is … a lot!) Can you put peel and stick temporary wallpaper over it? I would try a small swatch and see if it damages the wallpaper at all 🙃

How easy is it to move with Miso? What paper work do you need each time and what is cargo price like? Do you find it is very challenging to find places to live that accept dogs?
For example Airbnb when you first arrive do they allow it ok? Does miso ever have to stay in quarantine?

Okay, so the gardener in me actually kind of likes the white wallpaper with the green foliage. 🤣 The dark wallpaper with the monkeys and animals, not so much. I think I'd feel like they were always watching me. 😱 Might have to get creative with figuring out a way of camflauging it. Ah, well, it's just a temp place.

Why is it so difficult to rent an apartment in Berlin? Is easier to find an apartment or a house (you have a dog :) ) somewhere close to Berlin? Would that be an option? Or it's very difficult to travel to Berlin for work?

Honestly… I'd remove the wallpaper and offer to pay for a replacement once you move out, because that wallpaper is a Zumutung 😂
oooh no that's just trouble, wallpaper is expensive and they might not be able to find the same one again, that really wouldn't be fair to the regular tenants/landlords if they love it

It’s definitely possible :) I’m from the USA and I did long distance with my then girlfriend in Germany. We are now happily married and living together in Germany! It wasn’t the easiest BUT 100% worth it. 🥰

Congrats you guys! It's interesting that it's still a long sublet, but I'm guessing that's how the Berlin rental market is like. The tall ceilings look super beautiful and give great sunlight, altho I get what you mean about having to heat more space. Looking forward to seeing it fully furnished & organized by you two ^_^

I think wood/plywood panels would be really nicety cover the wallpapers! there also won't be too many holes, just as if you were to hang a painting or smth

For 18 months I'd just see the humour in the wall paper (but I live in the tropics so I'm not too fazed by it - wouldn't choose it, but don't detest it). Name the monkeys and say hello and goodbye as you come and go 😂
