You knw, I came home today from office worried, anxious and depressed. I ate supper with my family but was still feeling down.
Athaan went off on the radio and I went to take my wudu. When I was done making magrieb, walaahi I was instantly relaxed and the anxiety, depression vanished. Alhamdullilah. Subhanallah. ALLAH HU AKBAR!!?
We dnt need pills from this dunya or shrinks to read our heads. We need Allah and Deen in our hearts.
May Allah guide the ummah to unit under 1 banner and may Allah guide us all onto the straight path. Ameen
My sister, before Muhammed SAW recieved revelation, he was known to everyone as the truthful 1. And that was before revelation. So that's proof enough
AlhamdulIllah you don't need these medications or psychological help, but many Muslims do, and that's also OK. The scholars have spoken about the reasons for anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues and themselves said that sometimes they require medical treatment.
Just a clarification, the brother حفظه الله, made a mistake when quoting the verse. 3:03
The verse is ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث.

1:00:00 - also very important to mention about surah Abasaa. It is revealed in the early stage of Islam, in Mekka, when Muslims where just a few. If the quraan was written by Muhammed pbuh, he would never use ""Negative Publicity"" against himself that could scare people away.
The quraan is from no-one except Allah swt!
3:03 the verse 6 from surah Luqman 31 mentions : وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الحَدِيثِ
rather than (what the brother Shamsi said) : مَنْ يَتَّخِذُ لَهْوَ الحَدِيثِ

Just a quick correction:
وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن *يَشْتَرِى* لَهْوَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ (surah luqman aya 6)
6: But there are some who employ theatrics (idle talk) only to lead others away from Allah’s Way...

Just on the point of coffee vs alcohol/drugs/even cigarettes, the way I understood this issue is as follows:
Drugs and alcohol can completely cloud your judgement and we are told that we're not permitted to even have a little bit of something that can do that even if the lower dose doesn't do this. Caffeine is a stimulant, it cannot do this. Cigarettes, for example, the scholars studied this issue and concluded it is haram because it has no health benefits, it's harmful, and is bad for our wealth. The scholars don't say the same about sugar or fast food and maybe this is because although they aren't great for us in excess, they are fine in moderation and can at least provide some nutrition (even if a little with some foods), unlike cigarettes which are always harmful. And the origin is that the matters of the dunya are permissible until there's proof they are not. Now, if something is bad for you individually even if it's permissible originally, it is haram for you to have/use it.
