Welcome Everton fans... The response from you lot to my tweet has been electric (they are not happy.) In the original tweet, Branthwaite was pictured alongside some elite centre-backs with some very high ceilings, yet he is the one being quoted for the highest price? Todibo, Araujo, Antonio Silva, De Ligt, Lucami, Tapsoba, Bremer, Kilman, all of the names that were pictured in this post alongside Branthwaite. Today I am going to dive in and show you why Jarrad Branthwaite is not worth what he is being valued at...

Remember when Evan Ferguson was worth £120m about a year ago? Not sure i've heard his name since.
He's 19 and has had a couple injuries , struggled to find form in a disrupted season for him. You writing him off completely is such a social media age thing to do.
Writing off a 19 year old who scored a hatrick ar 18 is proper tik tok behaviour. As is calling him a £120 million striker off the same performances. Let the lad play, time reveals all.
@@patrickmullins7981how did I "write him off completely"? I'm saying while he was playing well just a year ago, everyone was throwing crazy price tags around for him. Here we are a year later and he barely gets a mention.
This is not a dig at Ferguson, I think he's got a good future. It's a dig at people that get carried away by a decent breakthrough season. People get carried away. Same as Neto back in September when he got 8 assists in the first few weeks, people saying we should get rid of Rashford and bring in Neto, prices of £70-£80m being thrown around. He's gone on to get 2 goals and 1 assist since then.
Your response is pure social media age. Over emotional about an emotionless comment. Quick to defend something without even understanding the point. Go dye your hair blue and join a protest.
@@retrorunner984 see my response to the other guy who's comment you copied almost word for word.
@@patrickmullins7981 ok my first reply to you was deleted for some reason.
But basically I said that this isn't a dig at Ferguson. I happen to think he's got a good future. It's about the ridiculous price tags that get bounded about when a young player has a decent breakthrough. One year on, that hype has fizzled out along with his goals.
The video is about Branthwaite, who's had a pretty decent season. But there's no way he's a £70m player.
Your response is typical of the social media age. Quick to get emotional over an emotionless comment without even understanding the point.
Finally someone speaking sense about Branthwaite.. 40 to 50 mil MAX defenders like Silva,Inacio,Todibo,Simakan those are some of the CB that ar WAY BETTER than him !
100%
Only one of those is the left footed CB 10hag loves for his system
Imo, we should go for CBs who play in a more progressive system. Inacio/Diomande from Sporting, Tapsoba/Hincapie from Leverkusen, Hato from Ajax, Scalvini, Simakan (can play CB/RB), Geertruida from Feyenoord. There are so so many options!! Jarrad might develop to be one of the best CBs in the league but the fee demanded and the system he plays currently don't make this signing a sure shot success.
@@TheBatmanWhoReactsNo one’s being bought for Ten Hag’s ‘system’ anymore, mate
He'll never develop to be one of the cbs in the league. @@user-ig1ps2mr2r
I’ve been saying for weeks Branthwaite was a rip off and I’d questioned his decision making and was slated for it in the comments. Nice to see someone actually giving some thought about him instead of just reading and siding with media bs.
Spot on Steve. My dad is 83 on Tuesday. He's been watching united since 1950. He was right off on one when he heard Branthwaite was being linked. He can't stand him. Can't say his exact words on here but he was spot on. I'm sending this to his phone. He'll love how you pointed out what he he's been saying. Well said mate. Never a united player. 👏👏👏
Happy birthday to your dad from me and all real United fans.🎂🍰🧁
Finally someone not falling for the hype
He was on the floor more than on his feet against united at o.t. , he's bloody useless.
Being saying this for ages
Any defender on the ground shows no positional sense. Look at Paul McGrath never was on the ground with last ditch tackles
The fact that we didnt sign Akanji for free and is looking at Brathnwaite for £50mil….
Man united have NEVER had a plan in place for their transfer business for the las 10 years! For club of Man united's stature, it's beyond embarrassing! That's why we've overpaid for flops
And also we sign Varane for 40m when Captain Ramos was available for Free
@@prajyotraikar8553ramos didn’t want to come tho
Annoying because Akanji is also a United fan
You’ll hate akanji at United. City covers a lot of his deficiencies
Absolutely agree! Have been saying this for ages since the links to Man Utd came, and as a norwegian non-english biased fan, he's just hyped up bc of his nationality as you said.
TODIBO 40 MIL
Plays well in a team that looks to play long balls against the press... I thought that was the style we want to move away from?
If we are signing a player just because we need to keep our English quota up ide rather go for Guehi at Palace I recon we would get him for a bit cheaper and he's a solid CB. I like Braithwaite but he's been a bit up and down whenever I've watched him for every good thing he does he makes two bad choices, I know he's young but for that money it's a risky move.
Yes, we have been linked to Olise from Palace but instead it should be Guehi who must be the more prior signing from Palace. He has played for England 2-3 times and looked very comfortable on the ball.
That's absolutely right, people are mixing the 2 things, he is not generational, he is a good young talent, but extremely overpriced. At the same time, if his price tag lowers in coming season, him being young, he'll be a good purchase to any stable team that can give him time to develop.
Liverpool want Guehi and will probably get him.
Tosin Aradabaiyo is available for free btw.
Quality player but also one of the most injury prone Cb's in the league.
@@ILKILO1 hmmm... he's only had 4 injuries since 2018 while maguire had double that in the same period; branthwaite had 6; todibo had 11 in the same period.
@@SneakyB i mean from what I can see here he's approximately missed 1 season and a half out of his 4 season at Fulham due to injury, which isn't exactly the worse injury record I've seen but not great either. I suppose if he did come in as 3rd or 4th choice it won't be as much of a problem
@@ILKILO1 I'm comparing records from transfermarkt by the way.
Should be interesting coming back to this in 5 years times. I think this will be up there with some of Howson classics like "Lukaku is better than Kane" and " We need to buy Koulibaly ". The stats hes looking at mean nothing. Branthwaite is playing in a lower end side in the PL. Where as the other players are playing in good sides in other leagues. So of course there stats are better.
We will end up getting Maguired again😅

@@jimharris1358yeah, in the Gallagher Premiership (as of 2023)
Everton fans backing their own player is one thing, twitter tacticos forcing a narrative to make themselves sound smart to their robotic followers is another thing.
*Tosin on a free is a better player and deal.
Look, he has some traits, PL experience, set-piece threat, and having a homegrown player helps but the main issue is we don't know whether he is comfortable playing on the front foot. Ofc, with his qualities, he could adapt easily like Rice did from West Ham to Arsenal but for the fee we are paying, it has to be an absolute guarantee. All the world class CBs like Kim (€50M to Bayern), De Light (€70M to Juve), Van Dijk (€75M), White (€55M), Laporte (€65M) and many more have gone for a similar range of fee which Everton would demand. So, would it be wise? For eg, Real Madrid and many other clubs are looking at Yoro who will go for €70-80M. Scalvini, Simakan, Geertruida, Hato, A Silva, Tapsoba and so many options are there. The best decision would be to get 2 CBs in the range of €40-45M (like Todibo) and then for the 2nd CB signing, target cheap/free options like Tosin from Fulham. It's not about getting "world class or big names" but it's about getting the right "profile" in. Our recruitment has to be focused on the latter part. Jarrad would make sense if we sell our English players and get some fee for them, like Maguire for €30M and AWB for €15-20M. So, the net spend would be less and our homegrown quota won't be compromised.
If United signs him for exorbitant fees, they’re still making the same errors of the past. He’s not all that.
Brilliant analysis. I had my doubts about Branthwaite and this confirms it. I see him more as in 40-50 range as someone who would be a backup to Licha and also sometimes to Shaw, in case we don’t buy a new LB this summer.
Lucumi at Bologna for the reported 25m is a better deal if we want to use funds better this summer
Totally agree. The moment a young player strings a few decent games together in England the hype begins and players almost overnight are valued at astronomical sums of money. English hype is worse than hype in any other country. Howson needs to send this video to United because we will once again be wasting our money on a player who is going to disappoint. I don't want him even for 30m because I doubt he'll ever be of the standard that we require if we are to return to the top. Big money should only be invested in players who will definitely improve us.
@@shadow_realm47 United is NOT buying. He is 95m now? Tomorrow it will be 100m I suppose. Did you even listen to the analysis presented in this video? Get a mental health check because there is something seriously wrong with your brain.
Finally, he is another bang average english defender. We have been stung with Maguire and Shaw and we don’t need another. Rather we got Ignacio.
To be honest. Only generational defenders are worth above £50m
He is.
Ste, we need this video on Onana. Too many people are inflating his technical ability
oh thank god someone actaully points this out thought i was the only one. never understood the overwhelming hype
I have been saying that fir ages! One game vs Spurs at Spurs…. In ONE game he let the ball go under his foot three or four times! In one fucking game. Just a shitter Fellaini essentially. At least Fellaini was actually unconventionally ‘tidy’ with his touch
Yep. We need midfielders to dictate, not just tackle
Onana in last years champions league final, showed how we he can get the ball to the strikers consistently, city had no answer to him
@@0ijm3409fiwrekjI think they’re talking about amadou not Andre
You could make clips of every single defender in the world making what you think are mistakes. Van dijk is making them week in week out. Everton are just outside the relegation places and they have the 4th best defence in the league. Thats crazy. Not all down to branthwaite but he's a big part of it.
This lads a very good defender who's going to get better. The hype has nothing to do with him.
As an everton fan, If you dont want, we will happily keep him.
Kambwala looks as good as him
I'm so glad you did this video Ste, the 1st thing that stood out to me when we played them at OT is how much he dives in and goes to the ground. People need to stop with the hype over this kid, fucking Maldini? Really? Fuck me
English tax is a real thing as is homegrown registration rule. With United needing to offload mostly homegrown players, they need to take every single opportunity to bring in home grown talent. That's why Branthwaite will be too expensive and that's why we should be bringing Frimpong in.
Not worth paying more than £40m for him. Which means we'll sign him for £70m. BUT Murtough ain't here no more!
naah I'm not selling him for a penny less than 95m. More goals than Anthony :P
That's worrying Ste...
Would be interesting to hear your thoughts about Antonio Silva (Benfica) and Giorgio Scalvini (Atalanta).
Nobody mentions scalvini that boy looks like a legend in the making i don't even know if he's for sale if we can get him he would be the perfect replacement for varane

Exactly ste. Thanks for calling this out. Silva and diomande or todibo are the ones to go for.
I have commented on him about 4 times since this Branthwaite talk started. I didn’t watch him closely but didn’t see anything great in his matched I did see.
I watched the game at OT though. so decided to watch him closely and he was average. Twice he tried to drive out with the ball but miscontrolled the ball and we broke on them.
If he was not English and not playing already in the Prem, he’d be a decent ‘prospect’ buy at £20m. To have this talk of £60m to even £80m (🤣🤣🤣) is just embarrassing
I think it is actually true, he is not worth the hype. Antonio Silva is worth more taking a risk than Jarred. He is bullied easily especially how Halaand exposed him when he bullied him one on one. He is not physically good as Todibo or Tapsoba.
Spot on, for 70M plus you should get Branthwaite and Todibo, with croissant and a coffee change to spare. Also why we connected to a deep playing CB to replace a ... deep playing CB who may be better on ball and in air aka Maguire. Faster and younger, but priority?
Video analysis is a great addition, what would be good is comparing the player to one we're linked to for much less or a player in our squad who's deemed not good enough showing they're better than the target
Completely agree. Names just get elevated for no reason these days.
We'll keep him then, go after another defender
He is undeniably a good centre back. He's worth 30 to 40 million in today's market.
However with the English and Manchester United tax he will end up being 80+ million
Coming after and tearing apart a 21 year old learning his trade in the premier league. Classy as always Ste.
For the price tag we should be expecting a ready quality premier league centre half. The video is justified!
@@Jakeindbox united cant really afford him. City will get him if they lose the league. He's better for Pep's System anyway.
It reminds me a lot of when we where first being linked with Maguire and you heard all the shite about how he was suppose to be elite with the ball at his feet.
The price on Branthwaite will obviously be overblown, he is not worth that much money, but he definitely is a good player, but judging by how people are already looking down on him, people will either regret when he joins some other good side in the league and improves, or if he joins us, will incessantly shit on him the way people did on Maguire even when he was alright, and pounced even harder after the Greek incident destroyed his confidence, and the price tag was the major factor in all this. Also, his PSV stint showed more glimpses of him being good in a more proactive side than what regimented approach Dyche needs to make clubs survive and stay in premier league.
I love to see content creators shouting each other out. Let's keep up that vibe
Now this is what we call a calculated analysis of a player. Ofc he's a good player with a high ceiling but the hype has gone way too far. This is the problem with most PL viewers too. If a player has one good season, all of sudden he's next big thing.
I think he plays backup LB and backup LCB. At LB he'd be the one that inverts into midfield or stays back during attacks to make a back 3.
Wouldn't say getting beat by Cole Palmer is something to criticise too hard as we've seen it time and time again even with Vidic vs. Fernando Torres that was far more consistent of a tearing and TAA albeit criticised a lot for defensive ability (Though it's not that bad) was down on the ground in his first season, remember Rashford putting him on his back vs us but he's grown a lot and plenty can see he could play for any team in the world. Serious talent is Branthwaite positional awareness comes with age and training.
He's raw but there is real potential there
Muppetiers was absolutely convinced he was a serious target, so then I started watching him more closely, and have become more unimpressed as time has passed. I do really like his passing out from the back on his left foot between the lines. That stat is misleading because of the team he is in. I think he's very rash like Bailly just rushing in and getting beaten. He also goes to ground too much. I think there is a player there and some improvement will occur but the 70m price is unrealistic.
Everton have to sell players before July for P&S, so prices might come down for him and Onana.
Incredible research, and Superbly presented - Your points have been well and truly Proven!... Case Closed mate! 👍🏻
Palmer rinsed him , Haaland left him on his arse , English hype as usual . He’s on Harry Maguires level
If Brantwaithe is a generational talent, then football is dead.
Thank you. This is a bench player to me. Needs a lot more time to develop. Goes to ground way too quickly for someone of that size and pace. Stay up man...
Great video, lets have more videos like this of other players were gonna be linked to
Well said! For me, Todibo, Tosin + Lucumi for a combined £65m-£70m is the way to go. Brainthwaite is ok but not at the price being quoted. We need to make value for money signings this window.
Can’t forget how Harland just brushed him off and ran through to score
Absolutely agree with you on this Ste, he's had a good season but that's it
Finally someone addressing this. Hes like a mcsauce defender...
Im sure he has potiential , but he gets caught out soooo many times
Ste is 100% right.
I said on Twitter a while ago that I bet Gareth Southgate was disappointed when he joined up with the squad and saw enough in training to know he wernt ready yet
I’ve seen pundits put him in their starting 11 for England… Embarrassing
Very good video!Better defenders in the championship, Portuguese league and French league that would cost 20-30M!
Hype job as usual!
People forget he's young, English, fast and has incredible potential he's easily 80 mill. The transfer fee especially for young players represent their potential.
City can have him, I'd rather take Tomori.
Kind of agree with you on that Stephen, he doesn't seem a cultured centre half seems more of a modern maguire, he's a good player but he's not the 50 to 60 million. 35 or 40 maybe if we could only get 1 centre half it would be Todibo but Branthwaite is left footed and a left footed centre half seems to be priority for Ten hag
As an Everton fan, please overlook Jarrad and I hope we sell Onana, anybody we can to keep this partnership alive. You can keep Maguire.
100% City and Real Madrid will never buy him. United need to buy world class players if we want to win UCL and Premier Leagues.
100% agree again, if we buy this profile of player then we have learnt absolutely zero lessons from the past 10 years. It's too much money to pay I'm guessing the English tax but let's pay a third of that money for someone equally as good from elsewhere
Gareth Bale and Gary Neville were total laughing stocks when they started out in defense for Spurs and Utd. It takes time for young players to adapt. Only a proper expert like Wilcox can judge Branthwaites ceiling
What some are forgetting compared to other defenders we are interested in. He hasn't played in Europe on a weekly
Fundamentally agree. Know an Everton season ticket holder said he is the only player since Rooney 100% sure will reachthe top, whih surprises me, I think heis reallygood but we don need to spend that ona left cb. Personally think Lukeba better there and a few others for the righ cbwhich is morei mportant.....However, we SHOULD be selling British players, areliterallyonly two we should def hang on to....so we maybeneedto sign some and outside of Braithwaite and far less so Archie Gray, which others are there we havea chance of signing?

The halfway line challenge , i dont see it as a bad thing in itself . .... Part of our problem is because we dont attempt / win that ball....we retreat ...so rather than try & have the chance towin it high and continue in their half , & stopping the potential oppo atack early enough for it to not registerasanything .... weve dismissed that option in favour of retreating & hopefully dealing withit much closer to goal .
Im not convinced of branthwaite either for that money , but that is the aggression i want to see , the mentality to realise that challenge has a big plus side , rather than instinctively retreating ..... Close the hole starts with that aggressive mentality imo
Bro, you said Amrabat is better deal than Rice
United need to show their steel here and not get baited by it. INEOS have the chance to start strong and go down a different path with recruitment.
Branthwaite has £75m-80m flop written all over him. English tax and Everton being difficult to negotiate with won’t help any club, let alone United who are prone to signing players for double their worth.

Sorry but having watched him over the past season every week he is worth far more 50.
John stones cost city 50mil when they bought him from Everton and jarrad is a far superior cb. He’s calm on the ball doesn’t make big errors ever. Positionally he’s always in the right place and is fast enough to recover when he is out of position.
If he isn’t a 70mil plus defender I don’t know who is because the lad is a mountain. Two more years he will be at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
yup, City will make a bid for 95m or 50m + Ake if they lose the league. United will get out priced like usual and overpay for an unknown from league 2.
he can go to city, united need pacy defenders.
His pass percentage is poor because passing from centre back to midfield is absolutely secondary for Everton and I bet my life on him being adviced to just put the ball long towards dangerous areas where the likes of Calvert-Lewin and Doucoure can flick it or then we can fight for the second ball. That and set pieces is the core of how we play. This passing statistic is entirely on the way team plays. The defending clips, fair play, can't really argue with that actually
People see a young tall English centerback playing in the prem and immediately start suggesting he is the next best things. If he makes those mistakes at United, fans will cook him.
I’m with you on this one, purposely watched him a few times because of the links and I just don’t see the hype.
This lad is very much looking like a Rio Ferdinand / Sergio Ramos hybrid - wasn't too fond of him towards the start of the season but he's really shown his welly at the back end. 110% a definite signing to be done.

Finally someone with a voice is saying what i have been saying
Ten Hag likes center backs that have progressive passes
His main strength is his speed, serial duel, i think his style is looks similar to Van de ven. But i agree, more than 50M is too much for him, now we are under INEOS, i hope they could find similar player from other league with cheaper price. This summer we need to be smart, we cant spend more than 50M on 1 player and we need some free transfer player.
I think llyod Kelly and Tosin adarabioyo are gonna free this summer and they are decent player, we need these kind of signing first. Then we sell maguire-lindelof an use the money to buy todibo.
Kelly and adarabioyo are both too old
Everton might be forced to sell him for far cheaper than they want due to their financial situation. He's a class act Branthwaite but no way I'd pay mote than 50m for him. Maybe we could offer someone like Maguire in a swap deal who knows but honestly I'd just buy Todibo, Anselmino & maybe Adarabioyo on a free
nope. City has a pre summer bid in for 70M each for both him and Onana. Both have also had talks with Bayern in January. United is not in the Equation.

Did you watch Cubarsi? That's a generational talent... I don't think Branthwaite is even been considered. Media just loves to link players with United.
He goes to ground way too much, the fact that he relies on going down for a slide tackle just tells me he not suited to a big club. They wouldn’t put up with that shit
Victor Lindelof and Johnny Evans can play 50yard passes into space down the channels... That doesn't make a United CB
When Ste said "I've watched enough Everton game to like Onana, but not Branthwaite", I couldn't agree more
Even Onana is not impressive.
If wer looking at any everton players we have a problem
I saw a picture of him and looks like a player at Manchester United. I hope we don't get the CB Scott Mctominay
Finally, I have been waiting for this. Branthwaite is overrated and overpriced! Not worth more than Todibo which is something around 40M
Remember Maguire was supposed to be elite too? Maybe the most promising young English centre back but nothing more than that
Dental work alone takes off at least 15M.
Todibo £40m and Kelly from Bournemouth on a free, pretty much fixes the defence considering both Varane and Lindelof will probably leave
Thanks to INEOS, overspending will be limited. Plus Wilcox seems meticulous.
