What do you think are some myths & misconceptions about the slow living movement? 🤷♀ I've added my Prawn Linguine recipe to the description too for anyone who wants to give it a go! 🍝 😋
Your reminder about the story of tortoise and hare is particularly true in the current context. Our mind keeps racing all the time. It seems to be on the path of success. But just like the 'hare', distracted focus and burn outs prevent even from achieving our true potential. In the book Deep Work, Cal Newport has described about the growing significance of a slow paced life for knowledge workers. Fast work creates quantity. Slow creates quality. Some of the ground-breaking innovations by Carl Jung, Bill Gates, Jason Benn, JK Rolling or Mark Twain share the common thread of slow and focussed work. Thanks Holly, for clearing this wrong perception about slow living. Most people perceive it a trait of losers or the luxury of the rich, but in reality its a key to sustainable success as well as eternal joy. 😊
Thank you for sharing this! I'm so pleased this resonated with you too and interesting point re the work of some of life's greatest minds. I don't think they could have achieved what they did without the art of slowness and time for mental clarity. It really does bring both internal and external benefits to our lives ✨
The best part about slow living is the work/life balance it fosters. It encourages us to prioritize what matters and eliminate what doesn’t so we can spend more quality time on the most important things. To me, it’s just living more mindfully.
I must confess that when I did not know the concept of slow living, when I had only heard about it superficially, I believed that it was a lifestyle for lazy people, but now that I know it and that I try to put it into practice I have discovered its benefits.
Sometimes I feel like leaving society behind and live in the forests like a wild man like how our ancestors used to live. I just want to prove that humans can live without money if they're one with nature. Giving you all the love and respect from Kolkata India 😊
Thoughtful video! Procrastination is never a good sign, it is a warning sign that something is wrong in our life management. Living slowing could sometimes mean knowing how to optimize our energy to be able to be there in the long term. I love doing creative activities, slow living allows me not to force on creativity to be productive. In fact, I think creativity comes with patience and it is a lifestyle rather than something that work in a fast-pace environment. We feel more productive when I got to the default mode, when all the busyness give room to peace and the survival mode of our brain is slightly switched off. - Althought I know what slow living is, I always struggle with how to apply it in day-to-day life. I have frequent burnout not because I live in a fast pace but sometimes I am very passionate about sport/ self development that it became like an addiction. It's always hard to say I have to stop when I have great sensation. I have been working on my emotional inteligence to delay my "contentment", and knowing how to rest even though I get into extreme motivation.
Thank you for sharing this, I enjoyed hearing your thoughts here! ☺️ I do agree that creativity is so special in the sense of still and slowness it brings. For me, creativity is the epitome of the "flow state" and really highlights the value of focus and patience. It's true though this isn't always possible each and every day but I do believe it's an art that can be practised and applied to other facets ✨
@@lagomholly Thank you Holly! Nicely said, I like your approach! I agree with you 100% that creativity could be apply to other facets. We could use creativity everywhere. There is also room to do something differently even where we do not expect. - Transposing our creativity is such a powerful skill. For example, I like to bring some sport mentality or musical experience when I am thinking. For example I always compare making some innovative tennis shots to creating some great melodies. -Identifying pattern and make comparison help us transpose our skills and as you said, with work it is possible.
Such a beautiful video! I think slow living is so very personal to each individual. It might mean anything from doing meditation/breathwork regularly, to moving to an off grid cabin, all depending on who you ask. :)
love this. I think alot of people have the misconception that you can't try to work a smaller maybe part time job and still live a life with the way society expects you to be
Holly life already goes bye fast enough so if we miss out on the part where we enjoyed everything it would actually be kinda sad but I realize in my own life I can only go so fast before I start missing the things that are important to the experience because I have to feel everything I do so that I feel connected to my story it’s almost like a song that is really simple to play but every time you hear it you love ❤️ it so so much because for what ever reason you connect to it and feel the song inside you…. I sure hope someone has told you lately how beautiful you are & gave you some flowers well I couldn’t take that chance so I wanted to be the one to tell you 💐💐💐 these are the prettiest flowers I could find hope you like them
It certainly does Andy! I totally agree though, music has such a special way of allowing us to slow down and connect with our feelings in the moment 😊 Thank you very much for your lovely words and your support as always 💛
Beautiful video and message Holly :-) I absolutely loved this from start to finish. I'm back from Sydney, completely exhausted, but I had it on my heart to watch your latest video when I got home and properly respond. I saw the most epic metal concert I have ever seen in my entire life (there was lots of fire, dancers, contortionists, etc.) in a sold out olympic arena. Since I've been home all I want to do is slow down. As you went to Canada and came home with some new found inspiration, I came home from this experience with new found inspiration. I saw on stage what a dream looks like when it becomes a reality. It really made me want to reach my dream, and with your advice too, I know I don't need to rush to get there, slow and steady really is the way, and to enjoy the journey too. I met my friend's girlfriend and her son, and this kid has been through so much, but he absolutely loves electronic music. As soon as I showed him my music, he wouldn't stop talking to me and showing me all his music, he was so happy. It was like God was sending me a message through this child saying, "If you reach your dream, you will help a lot of people" even an audience as young as this kid. But I know if I rush to get there, I won't enjoy the journey anymore and may be more inclined to give up. So, coming back to your advice, slow living really is the way, and I think we all need to slow down, it makes life a lot more meaningful :-) P.S. that prawn dish you made looks so delicious!
Thank you for your lovely message Stephen, so glad you enjoyed this and even more so to hear you had a wonderful time in Sydney! ✨ Travelling really does breathe a new lease of life into us and I'm excited to hear you're even more determined to pursue your ambitions! ☺️ I do agree though, slow and steady is the way especially with chasing a dream, as we run the risk of it becoming a chore if not and it's the passion that ultimately forms the dream in the first place. I wish you every luck going forward and never loose sight of the fact your dream can happen! 💛
@lagomholly All good beautiful Holly :-) it's always a delight to talk to you. Thank you for your lovely message too! Means a lot to me. Yes I haven't travelled in quite a long time, it really did breathe new life into me. You're right the things we love shouldn't become a chore, I think when it becomes a chore, like you said, it drains the passion from the pursuit. Thank you for the kind wishes Holly, I will keep pursuing my dream, and I wish you all the best for your dream too ❤️ :-)
Oh Holly, you did make me laugh when you sucked in that Tomato 🤣🤣🤣🤣 lol. You're face was a picture when you went 'POP' lol. Great video as always and I must say that dish looked soooooo yummy, mmmmmmm. ❤❤
I think a useful mindset to have is to think what you want your life to be like when you’re 80 (or more). When you’ve got that image/goal in your mind and you realise how much time you’ve got to get there, you naturally take things more slowly. My vision looks pretty simple but I want to be healthy enough to still be able to do the things I enjoy so my plan is to look after myself as much as possible (eat healthily, exercise regularly, as little stress as possible and plenty of sleep) and just take the time to absorb those moments in life that stay with you ‘til the end. If you’re constantly running round like a headless chicken, you’re only likely to run in the road and get hit by a truck. 🤷♂️
I really love that idea and perspective, that's something I'll certainly keep in mind going forward! 😊 I totally agree, it's all about realising we DO have plenty of time so no need to rush ✨
@@lagomholly Exactly. When you think of the archetype of the wise, enlightened old master living at the top of a mountain, you don’t ever imagine him saying to the young pilgrim who’s made it to the top to see him; “Sorry kid, not right now, I can maybe fit you in for 5 minutes in four weeks time but at the moment I’m up to my eyeballs in deadlines - it’s all hustle, hustle, hustle y’know!” Nope, instead, he’s at peace with himself and the world and moves slowly and thoughtfully through it. I don’t know about others on here but that’s how I’d like to feel when I get to that age. ☺️☺️

I couldn't agree more - life is to be enjoyed as much as it is to work hard and achieve our dreams 😊 Thank you for watching! ✨
I feel so calm after your videos
Thank you! ☺️

I'm glad to hear! It is one of those things you need to give a go to truly understand and feel the benefits, but once you do you won't look back ✨
That pasta looks delicious, I can't wait to try 😋So peaceful and calming ❤
Yes definitely give it a go! 😋 Thank you for watching! ✨

Absolutely, it's all subjective 😊 Living according to our own values and authenticity is truly the key ✨
