Climbing MOUNT FUJI in One Day | Yoshida Trail (富士山: 吉田ルート)

  • I climbed Mount Fuji on the last day before the seasonal closure. Mt. Fuji is opened from July to September.
In the summer many people climb to the top of Mt. Fuji. But, due to pandemic climbers are reduced and I think I like it better uncrowded for the entire hike.
It was drizzling when we started to climb at 9:00am. Took the most popular of the four main routes on Mt. Fuji, The Yoshida Trail.
It was moderate difficulty on the ascent. Took us roughly 4hrs to reach the summit.
The way down was incredible and always my favorite part, though a lot of climbers says it is hard and really painful on the knees.
The majesty and beauty of Mt. Fuji remain the same, and there is no better way to realize it than the experience of climbing it. Must hike for those visiting during the season.
Don`t forget to bring hiking poles and extra water. :)

Yes! I almost punked out towards the last bit.🤣 There was a trail you could turn back down the mountain, and it was so tempting.. but again, I'm so glad I finished because I would have regretted that decision for the rest of my life because that view at the top brought me to tears it was so beautiful. I'm definitely doing it again, but I'll be in better shape next time.😊lol. I was not prepared the first time.

I actually never considered climbing Mt. Fuji without seeing the sunrise. I'll be in Japan beginning of September, I might finally do it.
Update: I managed to book a hut and climbed overnight in the first week of September. I think it would have literally killed me if I did it in one go :D
6 hours to the 8th station hut of which it rained the first 3, another 2 to the top and 5 hours down. 30 Minutes into the descent I was contemplating just staying up there forever.

Hi thank you for the wonderful sharing. It is always good to take reference from your channel. Perhaps just one comment about the colour grading used in most of your videos. It make the footages very dark whereby perhaps it is best to shown the nature best in its most vibrant colour. Anyway keep up the good work. Cheers..

    • @Martin_Edmondson
      @Martin_Edmondson Год назад

From the Yoshida route it will take about 6 hours (give or take, depending on your fitness) but the last few hundred meters can be really crowded and can take a lot longer than you might expect. Particularly in the hours before sunrise.
Get to the top too early however and you have a cold wait for the sun.
I would maybe leave at about 9pm, and be prepared to wait. Or you could see the sunrise from the way up.. As you are above the clouds it is the same thing.
Weekdays will have less crowding/traffic jams near the top. Weekends can be horrendous.

Nope, going back down you have to take the path used exclusively for descents. Be careful at 8th station junction (Shita-edoya hut) not to take Subashiri trail. Always check the sign board and follow Yoshida trail. 🎉
***If you go down the Subashiri Trail by mistake, you cannot get back onto the Yoshida Trail. Also please note that there is no direct bus from the Subashiri Trail 5th Station to the Fuji-Subaru Line 5th Station. If you go down to the Subashiri Trail 5th Station by mistake, you will have to take a bus or a taxi to get back to the Yoshida Trail. The ascending Trail and descending Trail are separated.
