Very good video. Your recommendations for preventing this sort of thing from happening to others sounds good and should be part Carnival employee training. And info should be disseminated to all cruisers via email. And, available on their website. Anyway, looking forward to your future videos. thanks, and Go Cubs, charlieV
So sorry this happened. It does seem like a problem that can be fixed with some new coding on the check in system. Your suggestion to send a notice is also good, and a pop up notice on the page where you put in your passport (along with changing to a 30 day check n). Regardless, this definitely needs to be changed.
Hope Carnival does the right thing. They need to put a prompt in the check in that send an error message if your passport date is not within the parameters. It’s not that hard their I.T team can do it. Carnival has plenty of money from when people lose their deposits. Please do better Carnival. I’m so glad you put them on blast because I’m sure other people have been in this situation and didn’t have this type of platform. You have 50 on Carnival, I would like to see you cruising more on other cruise lines. Cheers to you Coach, you handle it with grace.
thats shattering. im australian and im so sorry to hear of your troubles in our beautiful country. i hope that one day you will come back over here and give us another chance :)
I’m so sorry what happen n so happy u took responsibility. But ur right…. There r things that can change n I sure hope they do. We all live n learn so they should too. Thanks for ur great videos!!!!
Hi Coach! I’m looking forward to your next broadcast. Is there any new information regarding your travel issues? Any updates from Anita about the cruise?
Wow this situation 💯 sucks and I sincerely feel for you I can’t imagine if that happened to me I would go crazy since I always travel solo. I agree with everything you said, there should be emergency information available, we’re humans we make mistakes and bad situations do happen.
Thanks for the comment, I think they’re making progress and I’m told my situation has upper management looking into helping cruisers more in relation to travel docs/checking in etc
Although your responsibility, it doesn't seem like it should be that hard for the cruise lines to throw up a warning when you put your expiration date in if it will be short.
This is definitely a conundrum because the rules for every cruise/country are different. Even if Carnival does change procedures it is still ultimately the cruisers responsibility. People should not rely on the cruise company to check all 6,000 people on their cruises. Also, how about people entering wrong passport dates and then getting go ahead. There is no easy answer.
As you mentioned it’s our responsibility first…. But for the first time in about 60 tries I did something wrong…It happens.. And any added measure to help the cruiser is not only obviously good for the cruiser but just as good for the cruise line as it makes them MORE profitable and LESS profitable if they don’t…So again makes more sense to help than not to help…even though as I pointed out probably multiple times it’s the cruiser’s responsibility first for sure
All countries have different immigration policies. Austraian immegration knows their laws but are not fluent about all other countries' rules and laws. I'm not as well traveled as you are, but know the 6 month rule applies to many countries. When I was planning my cruise, I would have applied for a new passport if it expired less than a year from when the cruise started.
Yeah I was playing with fire and got burned…I knew the 6 month thing too…what was stupid was thinking I was 7+ months out when I was 4 days shy of the 6 months But again, that’s not the entire point of the video, I’m hoping Carnival can make the process “dummy” proof…at least in context of passport at check in
There could probably be some software written to warn passengers, however getting a new 10 year passport in less than 14 days is improbable if not impossible for most people.
Thanks…I tried to be fair and honest about the situation…although I fear Carnival PR isn’t as impressed by that objectivity…but appreciate the comment…hopefully Carnival takes it as what it is, a desire and hope for them to improve customer service to help our experience as cruisers
Any other issues with your passport would have been cause for non- acceptance showing that some security check is performed, no reason why this check can't extend to passport expiration date validity for any booked cruise.
So why couldn't they give you a regular passport? When mine was stolen in Denmark I went to the US Embassy in Copenhagen and they were able to give me a new regular passport.
@@ChrisWard74 probably because passport you had stolen was still good for a long time, mine was good for just under 6 months longer…but yeah would have been great if they had…I’ve already ordered my new official passport
Coach i hate that this happened to you. this is really a bad situation. i wondered too, why they ask for the expiration of your passport during check in and not do anything right then. well, hopefully this will change some things. ultimately, i guess we all need to be 100% sure our documents are in order before check in. your november cruise will be here before you know it!
The thing is that carnival also should bear some of the blame. When someone misses their cruise, the person is not on the ship to spend money so the cruise company actually still takes a bit of a loss ( like stated in video ) . And they potentially won’t cruise again and will tell others about their negative experience. So if they improve their system, it will ultimately have a positive Effect for everyone.

Love the comment so much I’m pinning it. Thank you!
It's really stupid to me that passports expire, yet they REALLY expire 6 mos before they expire. 🤔🤔
Yeah that is kinda ridiculous I agree

Yeah I plan on going Live tomorrow, a lot to talk about, most of it really good
@@coachcruise Good to hear. See you then!
Carnival needs to go back to check in to be 30 days with the passport expiration dates.
I agree. Thanks for the comment
Great video

Very thoughtful comment, thank you. And thanks for watching
I've had trouble with Carnival customer service with whether or not I needed a passport on an Alaskan cruise to take an excursion into Yukon.
Thanks for the comment, I think they’re making progress and I’m told my situation has upper management looking into helping cruisers more in relation to travel docs/checking in etc

It's refreshing to see you are not simping for Carnival.

Good point
Maybe they should make check in available 30 days before. Some cruise lines do.
Yeah that would allow enough time
So why couldn't they give you a regular passport? When mine was stolen in Denmark I went to the US Embassy in Copenhagen and they were able to give me a new regular passport.

I don't believe you would have had time, 14 days before cruise date, to get even an expedited passport. Usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.
You’re right, I’d have had to go to Embassy and plead

Got great news on one front already, getting reimbursed for some expenses incurred, now hopefully some positive changes as you mentioned

Well said sir!
This 6 month expiration issue for international travel only or cruises leaving and coming back from the US?
It varies based on the countries you’re visiting, but from my understanding 6 months is the most common
Did you book your air travel through carnival? Or on your own?
On my own
Hello friend good afternoon my friend sharing video 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hello! Have a great day
I just got a email from Carnival talking about this situation
No kidding? Could you please share that on the Coach Cruise Facebook group?
First of all diamond and platinum is 16 not 17 days!😮
Yep correct thanks
Sorry coach I don’t have a Facebook account
No worries, thanks for watching on RUclips
