    It's great to see "Three On A Tree" gear shift. That's what I learned to drive. And I always liked the style of the '58 Ford...thank you for uploading and sharing!! It's appreciated!!

    This is a good buy but it needs all the painted over chrome on upper grille, Hood scoop , taillights surrounds, door handles and bumper stripped back to chrome, those are the best style details on the 58. The roof details were added for rigidity, it's a big piece of sheetmetal, they found in 57 that they had to chuck alot of warped roofs so added those indented ribs in 58. I have had a few 58s and although not as popular ( now ) as the 57 Ford they actually have a pretty cool style, put in a nicely warmed Y block, do the chrome and that would be a great cruiser !

      I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the painted upper bumper and trim and rear bumper and scoop

      Interesting. I thought that was just because it's a Custom rather than a Fairlane.

    Put this picture up beside a '58 Thunderbird picture and notice the styling clues on both cars. Yeah, the T=Bird has the flash and power, but from 50 feet away and you'll be amazed how much the two look alike. Ford family of fine cars for sure.

    That white on the back bumper and the grill pieces looks as bad as the rigs they paint all the chrome black to "murder out" rigs with. What is wrong with just making it exactly like it was? I grew up driving those cars and can say its those rigs that I miss more than most anything one could name

      I had a 58 Ford as my first car. It was a 4 door, 6cyc, 3 speed with overdrive...POWER steering, which was a rare option for a 6 banger.

      1958 was a low production year for all American cars I believe. You don't see nearly as many of them.

    That won't be there long at that price, but I wonder if they'd be willing to drop say, $500- $1,000 so you could scrape/rechrome everything needed? Sad attempt at a mild custom, I guess

    • @kevw412
      @kevw412 2 года назад +4

      I suppose it was cheaper to simply paint then to re-chrome these items.
